Macro - Both of these shots were taken in a palm plant outside the front door of our office building. They were on different days, as the ones I attempted this afternoon of the wasps did not come out, at all. (Though, they are STILL building that little nest, granted, it looks like those 2 have built 2 other large ones as well...)

And... in Princess-esque style...
Something Fishy with Gears done up in Black & White - A sculpture in the lobby of our building. The other company paid for this and from what I hear, it was considerably costly. I think it's rather ugly, but makes for interesting subject matter


Up to 7/10 now! I really need to get off my butt and shoot more. Not having a car makes it a bit tougher, there's only so much I can walk to. I'm aiming to walk home from work tomorrow (it's about 2.75miles) so maybe I'll get some stuff on the way.

(as a note, I wrote this all up last night and even posted, but it was ~12:19am CST when I did. The boards get real wonky between 12-1am and it appears to have eaten the post. Good thing I saved it to a notepad!)

I believe I said that Festivals and Major Events is Something that my Town is known for in a previous post.

This post's Festival is the Light in Winter.

This event is a month long event designed to bring a little light into the Melbourne winter, particularly for the Winter Solstice. This was the celebration on the closest Saturday to the Winter Solstice. As this is an outdoor event, you might find a few Chilled individuals walking around Federation Square.

This year, there were a number of interactive type displays set up throughout Fed Square. The UFO was something Spooky.

Particularly when viewed underneath!

There were a number of interactive acts on the night. This was the one that I found the most Soulful.

A number of people were walking around and reading books…

…which they then placed on one section of Fed Square.

Rather Illuminating!

The Director of the Light in Winter is Robyn Archer. She’s the lady with the black coat, talking to her friends. I took the opportunity to thank her for her efforts and to let her know how much I enjoyed this Festival. Wish she was my Best Friend.

These all fall under Illumination and show some of the displays that have been present for the last month.

But I’m going to call this one Rise and Shine.

There were a number of stations that had ethnic food during this festival. This was a plate of Turkish Delight…the only picture I took of Fair Food on this night.

I’m going to finish this Festival with this shot I took right at the start. Can I category stretch or rather bend it as I-Beam?

It is also known as Froggy Park to the local kids....this is found in the Playground.

Did you know that there is a Unicycle Club in Melbourne? They meet in a rather public place in the City on the last Sunday of every month.

I didn't exactly resort to my favourite hobby of stalking them...I sent them an email to ask permission. They were more than happy for me to come along and snap pictures.

This sounds like fun. I thought I'd give it a try with photos I take on my phone. Is it ok to include photos that have been manipulated? I like to play around with different apps on my phone.

Here's one that I recently took of the St. Johns Bridge, a beautiful and much beloved steel suspension bridge that spans the Willamette River here in Portland.
