Has anyone used these? Opinions? Cost? Length of time allowed? Sounds like a good idea in theory.

To the best of my knowledge, although I will defer to someone a little more knowledgable, the lockers are free. The only bank that I am aware of is at Cosmic Rays. I don't know how rapid the recharge is.

For us this isn't much of a convenience. We will be traveling pretty heavy into the parks this year, we are expecting to take 2 external batteries, 2 iPhones in external battery cases, an iPod touch and two iPad minis, if we run out of juice during the day we are in trouble.

Forget any "charging" lockers.

Get an external battery or battery case

Even with a small external battery you should be able to get 1-2 charges out of it for the day to keep it all charged up for your FP+ use.

Yes, exactly. I know I can't afford to be without my iPhone, especially now w/ the MDE app. And who wants to have to walk all the way back to wherever you left your phone charging? An external battery charger is $10-$20 and easily rechargeable each night when you get back to your resort.

We have a solar charger. It's not that big and just drapes over the stroller canopy and it charges well. We also use it at outdoor shows or QS places. We actually had it for DH and the boys' camping but used it at WDW last year.

So just to clarify things,,,a charging locker is a locker you open and it has an outlet in it? Then you lock your phone in it and (have a key hopefully) and return later and retrieve it?

I wouldn't count on having access to them. On our Memorial Weekend 2014 trip, the one in the Space Mountain gift shop was full of green lights which meant they could be used except they were all filled and locked with phones that people weren't picking up.

One woman was sitting by them on the floor waiting for someone to pick up their phone and free up one of the chargers/locker and told me she had been there for an hour and a half so far and would have given up except she really, really needed her phone.

So bring your own phone charger - the kind that will plug into any wall outlet, not just the USB cord - or bring a portable charger or if you have an android phone, an extra battery or two that you can swap out.

Any of those choices would be better than relying on the few phone charging lockers WDW has right now. If they had more, it might not be the case but there just aren't enough based on the fact that they want everyone to use their app.

Thanks for posting this! I have been looking for one so I just ordered it!

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Glad to help!! I would never go to Disney without mine!!

If your CC is the key then its not free,,,hey Im a poet and didnt know it

The charging lockers are free. The credit card is used to identify that it's "your" locker and opens the locker when you return. For the time being, this is free. Disneyland have a similar set up, however they do charge for their lockers.

There are 6 lockers in the Space Mountain exit store and 12 lockers in Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe.

You activate an available locker with a credit card then tell the locker what type of device will be charged (Older Apple, New Apple, Micro USB). It will then provide a bay for your phone that contains the three connectors. Plug in to the correct one and close the door. The light will turn red to indicate the device is charging. The light turns green when its fully charged. An empty chamber is blue. When you return, swipe your card again and the locker will open.

stupid questions. Unless you guys all have bad iphone batteries, what are you doing all day that would cause your battery to get empty?

The only time my battery goes totally out is if I am constantly taking pictures, constantly surfing or constantyl playing a game ( like for hours).

Taking pictures is the only thing i could see myself getting in trouble with. I cannot see that many times I am checking MDE or adding a FP will drain by battery???

I can make many phone calls, check a few things online, take pictures and with my phone still has %% the next day
??

Thats 18 lockers.Hmmmm,,,and how many people does WDW hold?

there aren't a lot because I believe they are still in testing. once they are out of testing they will probably have more and will probably charge for them.
I think the concept is good but they do need more, and I will probably just continue to use my portable charger, which coincidentally is in my pocket right now as I am sitting waiting for jury duty reading the dis boards and listening to Disney music trying to think of my happy place.
