PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Strawberry, chocolate triple and (against the rules) profiteroles. Guess I could have an entree here, too.

Ok - Cupcakes - offtopic- what is the best place to eat decent food at Epcot and see the fireworks? I have ADR day tomorrow and trying to mix it up for October. Also any can't miss things during Food and Wine. I would love to have a trip where I am not full speed ahead but this is not that trip:)

My favorite ADR is Rose and Crown at 8:00 pm. If you sit outside you have a great view or even if you sit inside you can go outside to the private viewing area that only guests at Rose & Crown can use! Of course I love fish and chips...the siltan salad is awesome...and oh the sticky toffee pudding (real thing not like at MK).

Oh yeah! The cupcakegoddess agrees with me on the size, so it has to be too small!!! I'm not crazy!...or a pig! :woohoo:

That looks rather small in the picture and yes I am a piggy cupcake eater:rotfl2:

Hmm, I dont know it is visually stunning however, I think I would inhale that thing and embarrass myself. Hmm, maybe I would order the triple chocolate plus that strawberry. :cool1:

For the record, I ordered THREE at BOG when I was there in November... so....

Not for yourself....:rotfl2:I seem to recall you allowing your children just a little nibble!

And this was one of them. I enjoyed this cupcake (although the lemon meriengue (sp?) outranked it as my favorite).

I would add this one personally. It was pretty good.

This was my favorite cupcake from our last trip in January. So good! And I'm usually more of a chocolate person too, but I could have eaten about 3 of them! That would be about the size of the other Disney cupcakes, right? ;)

Yes, this was a yummy cupcake...AGAIN, I have to reiterate though that my notes mentioned that these freaking cupcakes at BOG are too SMALL. Maybe I just have a gigantic mouth. I might not share, even. ;) I think I can just pop the whole thing in my mouth in one bite. :lmao:

Oh yeah! The cupcakegoddess agrees with me on the size, so it has to be too small!!! I'm not crazy!...or a pig! :woohoo:

That just means you can have even more flavors!

Lookes like the Strawberry Cupcake is a YES!!! Although we will need to figure out if we eat alone or share! Guess I will give up my FastPass that day for ADR at BOG...they are going to love us when we just order cupcakes!

For PHM this year, we came in on Wednesday evening & left Monday (late morning ME pick up). I will come in next year most likely on Wednesday night & fly out Monday early. Will need to be at expo on Thursday as I am going to do the 5K on Friday also.

YES, YES, YES!! I love strawberry!

Strawberry, chocolate triple and (against the rules) profiteroles. Guess I could have an entree here, too.

What is a profiterole? I need to research this...I loved the meal I had at BOG for lunch!

STRAWBERRY...YES BUT TOO SMALL TO SHARE!:rotfl2:

When Life & Running Slam into Each Other...

Yesterday, I finally broke down and made a couple of doctor appointments. First, after you turn 40 your eyesight really goes downhill. I have never needed glasses before in my life but about a year ago I broke down and bought a pair of CHEAT glasses. Lately, the cheat glasses don’t seem to be much help so I made a doctor’s appointment. Since I would be taking the day off anyway, I also booked an appointment with a sports medicine doctor who specializes in the lower leg (including the ankle and foot). I have to figure out what is going on with this leg that has been bothering me off and on now since July. I don't think it is a stress fracture like July but it is strange. I get this deep knot-bruise like feeling where the ankle ligaments attach into the back of the calf. It is not really painful, there is some discomfort when running (not enough to really stop me) and none walking. Although when I sit I do notice the tightness. Anyway, it is time to get it checked out before I end up sidelined like July & August.

Ab has her big state Latin Competition next weekend in Austin, so I am driving down to pick her up to then take her on her first college tour in Fort Worth (Texas Christian University) on the following Monday. I have really been toying around with the 5K ideas for that weekend to fill my time up (really an excuse to leave Friday afternoon for some much needed me time), and I know after last Saturday’s run that I can do a 5K without a problem (with a little self doubt thanks to Fool’s Day run). Well, I bit the bullet and signed up for the BlueBell 5K in Brenham on Saturday.

I know that my leg is not 100% but I still think the 5K is manageable and this seems to be a pretty big race along with a delayed start for those wanting to walk the 5K…so I can do my blend in the crowd thing and not feel out of place in a 5K coming in last. I really wanted to do this race just simply because of it being springtime in south Texas and the course highlights that fact…fields of Bluebonnets and of course all the Bluebell ice cream you can eat when the race is over (step aside cupcakes for this race).

After the race, I am thinking of going to a run store in Austin for a gait analysis. You have to commit to buying a pair of shoes to have the computer analysis done, which is okay since it is just about time for new shoes anyway. The only thing I worry about is then turning around going to the sport’s medicine doctor and having him tell me something different. Any thoughts, should I do the run store?

I will say, my PT gave me a list of shoes based on my issues. What the running store had given me was ok but not great. Personally I would wait and ask the doctor. Also make sure it's a store that will trade them out if they don't work. so a far away store might not be the best bet in case after a mile or two you are having pain.

I say go for the race. Walk if you have too. A finish is a finish! Heck do it for the ice cream!

I was having similar pain after PHM and that is what my PT and I have been working on. I apparently sparred some muscles and also have a joint in my foot dislocated. I have a list of stretches to do to help out.

I was thinking that too...9 hours is a long way to go to return some shoes. I just wish I could have gotten in this week to the doctor and then did the run store.

I agree...this is a race I can blend into and not worry about being last! And Bluebell is the best ice cream!

Its the same sort of pain from my stress fracture which was at the ankle...but I am not having the stress fracture pain just this calf pain. It took me almost 6 weeks of the laser and ultrasound treatments to get rid of this pain last time around...I am still doing all the stretching that I was given...and I really don't think I have pushed myself hard at all. I have backed off whenever it has gotten me worried...hopefully I will get some answers. I am really thinking it has something to do with my ankles...

Meh, I'm the wrong person to ask about running stores. I've done a lot of personal research on shoes b/c of my injuries and it seems to me the stores want to sell you certain brands and you run across a lot of different opinions...that are just that...opinions. If you go, I suggest you make sure you don't let them convince you on a certain shoe or certain type of shoe, if it doesn't feel right. I hope the Dr. appointment goes well and I say GO FOR IT with the race!

As for BOG, I believe there is a separate FP+ ADR you can make without using your other FPs. I don't know the specifics b/c we went before they had the FP's, but I would look around the DIS and you may find more info! :thumbsup2

I think the leg issue is more mental for me because I am scared of what happened last July and I don't want to be in that position again. I know we will be in Austin again later in the summer with another college visit, so I might hold off...there is a Disney outlet outside of Austin...:rotfl2:

Besty found the "secret" link last year for BOG fast pass...and we broke the code and were able to score ADR for lunch...hopefully we can do that again!

I agree about waiting to talk to a sports medicine doctor. When I came back this time from Princess, I had a nagging pinched sciatic nerve. He was the one that explained pregnancy two c-section, weakening back muscles plus added extra weight were causing ligament damage. I was told lose weight:flower3: strengthen core, and leg muscles with weight lifting and to keep mileage low to heal. Also switch to a more protein based diet not necessarily meat but more protein. Anyway, I have found that most shoe stores put me in heavy, heavy stability shoes when I am a neutral runner. So like everyone else said maybe hold off and see what the sports med doc says and he could even prescribe Physical Therapy.

I guess we should be called Cupcake Injuried Reserve Crawlers! Saturday run done 30 min short sweet now off to play in the sun. Beautiful weather in the ATL!!! My daughter wants learn how to make a pie for after church. No cupcakes but a pie:snooty:

Did my first training run tonight... 2 miles took me just over 20 minutes. I felt pretty good and got some crazy ideas while running...then I remembered that is why I loved running... time to think!!!

I have now committed to running a half marathon with my Dad in mid-October to get my qualifying time... oy vey what have I started?

And secretly, I am going to try for the GSC... hubby doesn't know about that...

2 miles in 20 minutes is awesome!! I'm jealous!

What day do most of you ladies travel? We normally travel Saturday to Saturday because of hubby work schedule. We are going to have to come on Friday now with the glass Slipper Challenge. Just wondering when do some of you ladies come into town?

We came in on Wednesday and we left Monday morning. I'm going to do that again.

Love all my scrapbookers!!! I would love to go digital but I don't think the kids will let me. Plus I doubt mousecrappers would let me over there. It was an ugly time here on the DIS for a while with digital content issues. I tried to keep the peace but it didn't always work out.

That's a 10 minute mile...:worship:!!!! Way to go! How fun to run with your dad! Love the Oy vey! Secrets are fun...LOL we all have secrets with our spouses I bet when it comes to Disney....:rotfl2:

I have done a couple of gait analysis...when I started having shin issues last spring...and I was happy. Then I had one done by a sports med doctor when I developed my stress fracture. I was happy with both of them at the time I had them done...but looking back at both of them I think I needed a little more in depth and specific. The fitting last spring was to get me a good pair of shoes and the one last July was to get me over my stress fracture...I suspect there is a little more going on post stress fracture and this time I am going to a sports med doctor who specializes in the foot and ankle...

I think I will wait on the shoe fitting until the doctor checks me out...I will be in Austin and Dallas again next month so surely I can arrange an appointment if needed then...

Pie is good! Even better when it is a project together!

ME TOO!!!

It is sad that people have to be that way. I have seen a lot of ugly stuff on DIS and sometimes I feel like mousescrappers has a clique going...especially during speed scrap chats...like to ignore new people...just have to be above it all. I probably would do more traditional scrapping if I had a room to leave it all out and be organized in...sadly I don't so if I want to get pages done...the computer lets me do it.

Sunday Training Stats
for Tammie
5K Week 4

Total Week Distance: 15.96 miles
Total April Distance: 13.78 miles

Monday, March 31 (WALKING): I probably have said this already a million times, but I really am enjoying getting out during my lunch hour and just walking in the neighborhood around the school. A very nice break from my office! Today I walked 2.18 miles with an average pace of 15:49. I love seeing my walking pace under a 16 mm!

The field at the park was full of robins during my run...I love seeing them even though the weather keeps going up and down between winter, spring and summer!

Tuesday, April 1 (INTERVAL W4/D1): After coming off a great run on Saturday, I was really looking forward this run! I guess I should have checked the date because I was fooling myself into thinking that I could run. Today was not good. I felt stiff and sluggish, each step was labored and before I long I felt that deep bruise feeling in my left leg...TROUBLE! This was quite puzzling to me as why, because I have had no issues with shin splints lately???? So I backed off and decided to walk most of the workout. I managed a distance of 2.06 miles with an average pace of a 15:00 mm.

Another sign of spring...I love apple blossoms!

Wednesday, April 2 (WALKING): I could not walk during the school day thanks to testing, so I decided to sneak off before I got home after school and have some much needed me time. Today I walked 2.12 miles with an average pace of a 15:58 mm. Funny, the leg gives me no trouble walking.

Poor baby Robin!

Thursday, April 3 (WALKING): I decided that at lunch I would go ahead and walk in addition to my interval run in the evening. I am glad I did because about 2 pm we got a warning from the National Weather Service for a Dust Storm! It was a brown gritty mess all evening, not good for the lungs at all. My walk to day was 2.02 miles with an slightly higher average pace of 16:11 mm so maybe my leg does bother me a little more than I care to admit while walking or maybe I am just being careful.

Can you see them? Walking today I noticed that a house had those prayer flags like you see in AK! I would have ran up and taken a closer picture but there was a car in the drive way and I did not want to freak them out. :rotfl2:Some Disney magic today!

Friday, April 4 (WALKING): Another walk during lunch, nothing exciting or special. Today my distance was 2.04 miles with average pace of 15:52 mm.

Tulips...my favorite flower!

FRIDAY BONUS (INTERVAL W4/D2): Since I did not get in my run yesterday due to the wind/dust storm I knew I needed to do a bonus workout after school. I was a little nervous and dreading it after what happened on Tuesday, so I put on my heavy shin compression sleeve and headed out to the park for my 2nd short run of the week. Each step I worried about my leg, yes there was some discomfort but I found that the longer I went the less bothersome mentally it became...I ended up doing 2.10 miles with a 13:15 mm pace. Hey, not to bad at all.

Saturday, April 5 (INTERBAL W4/D3): Normally, I don't like to run back to back days especially when the 2nd day is my long run day but I really did not have a choice. This morning I decided to head out to the park that I has a longer course...it was a cold and windy morning, plus I forgot that this trail has a lot of hills. But still I got out there and did it...3.44 miles with a pace of 13:37 mm. I will take that considering all of the above, plus my leg issues. Again plaguing me but not enough to make me stop in pain.

I remembered why I liked this course so much...can you see it? This was the place I took my first long run after coming off my stress fracture and PT sessions trying to make it to ToT. I took it as a sign last fall that I could do ToT! Makes me smile...

Whoohooo Tammie! You are moving so much, it's inspiring. I had to giggle, I have prayer flags in my back yard over the deck, we put them up every year or two as they shred up and fade into nothing eventually. I actually think about that every time I'm at Disney, they must change them OFTEN! I don't have a good shot of them that I can find.

Oh and I'm reading your last Trip Report for fun! :goodvibes

I read it all! I know it was a couple years ago, but so much fun to see your trip. We plan/stress similarly! ;) Can you PM me any info about Tony, your driver? I'm going to Orlando for Playlist live at the beginning of next February and we aren't staying at Disney and will need transportation! It's crazy expensive!

Hello Cupcakes - sore and tired but happy to report I finished the Cherry Blossom 10 miler this morning! Wanted to finish in under 2 hrs but hit it at 2 hrs exactly :). I was in the last corral and was worried about being swept but not today!
No cupcake but had a delicious almond croissant and tea latte with my ice bath:)

Tammie, your photo and reports are stunning!!! Glad you had good times on your runs and walks. I think both are really beneficial. You are working on your walk interval when you walk. That's a good plan.

Amy. Congrats on the 10 miler in 2 hrs!! Ice baths are so hard. I have a love/hate affair with them.
My daughter is in the kitchen now. She decided on a chocolate silk pie with an Oreo crust. I'm trying not to be hover mom. But it's so hard as she likes to rush through stuff and not take her time:scared:

I agree with that & the cliques of some of the scrapboards! My SIL would always try to get on designer teams when they had open calls & the same people always got them. The friends of the designers.....

I just buy the kits I like and scrap. I rarely share my pages and I'm sure when I do I tick someone off because I don't remember the credits- not on purpose- I just have 200 million kits.... and I don't remember........

I acknowledge I didn't make the kit and that's as good as it gets! :rotfl:

And like you Tammie, I just have to space for traditional scrapping stuff (esp. with little kids) so I had to go digital. But I miss the traditional stuff too......
