If everyone heads to the expo on Saturday I may just try to swing into the city that day to catch up with everyone before the carb loading dinner. We'll see how the week goes. It's not like I don't live 25 minutes from the convention center.

I just checked the forecast for race day on weather.com (I'm sure I'll be doing this 10 times a day from here on out)

High 52
Low 38

:cool1:

and, for Jodi, - Sunny!!!!

Of course, the forecast is bound to change 100 times between now and then, but I really like this version . . .

It's been pretty lousy here the past 2 weeks which is good. Let it get it out of the way now. I figure we'll know by Thursday what we will be dealing with on race day. Cold and dry will be fine with me.

SWEET! I'll go with this forecast!

Lou - You've gotta come to the expo Sat! It's where all the cool kids'll be!... And Mike.

Cindy - Any kitty update?:sad1:

Dave - Thanks! I mean, otherwise, Bruce & I could always hitchhike!

Cindy - Any kitty update?:sad1:

Matt dropped him off at the special vet at around noon. They said they want to keep him for 24 hours :sad2: (I hate the idea of going to bed without him at the end of it). They are going to give him an IV and run some tests and are supposed to be calling us with some info soon hopefully.

Cam - We'll be there Thursday around 9AM. Thanks!

We're in for 5 for dinner. Unless you've changed your mind about me and my little harem (Trust me. I'd think twice before I'd let me in my house.)

Mike - you can't scare us. We used to host a bunch of teens through early 20s young men and women from indoor colorguard. There is nothing like a houseful of kids for a weekend. :rotfl2: Feel free to come whenever you like. The earlier the better!

I am really looking forward to seeing everyone! I am making homemade spaghetti sauce this weekend. I love cooking for large groups of hungry people. Our house won't be cleaned, but it will sure smell good. ;)

I'll PM directions and our phone number to everyone this weekend.

Hola! :confused3

The anti-inflammatory med is doing the job (most of the time I can't feel any pain). However, I can feel it wearing off now.

I am going to run a bit tomorrow if I can (an easy one) just to make sure I remember how.

I am so looking forward to hosting all of you (that can make it) at our humble home next weekend for a lasagne pre-Philly free-for-all. :woohoo:

Lou~ Is everything pretty much the same as the PDR for parking, starting line, expo, etc? It sounds like it. If so, I should be able to find parking in the same lot I parked in last time (not really close, but not terribly bad either).

Cindy~ I hope your kitty cat is resting comfortably tonight.

Jodi~ Sunny, Low of 38, High of 52! :worship: :yay: :cheer2: :dance3: :rotfl: :goodvibes :cool1: :thumbsup2

Cam: if it's not too late to RSVP, DH says he'll stay home with the little one so I can come, I look forward to meeting everyone

I'm liking the current weather forecast. We just went out and got some cooler weather running gear, so by Murphy's law the weather will be perfect and we won't need any of the warmer stuff we just got :rotfl2:

I'm off now to do a few miles-- I don't do mornings :surfweb:

I can't remember who asked, but the official web site does list where the water stops are-- they seem to be roughly every 2.5 miles

If you are picking up your race bib on Saturday then you can grab a cheesesteak from Rick's Steaks at the Reading Terminal.
Lou - It looks like Rick's Steaks is not an option. http://www.philly.com/philly/restaurants/20081030_Rick_s_Steaks_serves_its_last_at_terminal.html

Jodi - Yes, we have been over this before but that's O.K.. I'm feeble minded too. We are at Embassy Suites also. We're driving up early AM Saturday, hope to see a few historic sites, hopefully check in, quick trip to the expo, then get ready to invade Cam and Howard's.

Cindy - I hope the feline does well tonight.

Howard - Food or milk or at least a big glass of water with your meds. You don't want to end up with an ulcer.

As for the cheesesteak, I am more of a French Beef Dip au jus kind of gal.:snooty: I am so anemic, I CRAVE red meat especially when I am training for marathons (or pregnant)!:rotfl:
Any special news you'd like to share my little carnivore?

Jen - Good to hear you're coming to Cam's. I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Hello to everyone else.

I experienced one of the fine marathon training traditions (at least for me) today, the always popular "Phantom Pain Run". I ran 8 miles and everything I own hurt at one point or another. My shins splinted, my back was tight, my shoulders hurt. Even my running shorts bunched and pinched in a most uncomfortable way :headache: . So much for the nice, confidence instilling jaunt.

My only concern is that one or two of the phantoms seem to have ridden home with me in my Doom Buggie ala The Haunted Mansion.:scared1: My calf/achilles still feels a little funky. You gotta love the week before a marathon!

Hi Phillyers!

Mike~ Will do on the meds...

No running for me today... the weather was not good, then good (when I was running around with Cam all day), then really not good (TONS OF RAIN), then worse. :sad2:

My PF is uncomfortable tonight, I think the anti-inflammatory has pretty much wore off for the night. I am going to stretch in the morning and hit the streets for some miles... how I feel will determine how many miles. I am hoping for something around 5 to 7 miles... good ones at a slow pace (10-12).

I told Cam that I want to run for more psychological reasons than fitness reasons. I need to get my confidence back... right now its all guess-work about if and how I can finish the Philadelphia Marathon. This will definiely not be a PR race for me, but it should be a fun one... with or without pain and discomfort (I mean more pain and discomfort than I usually get from a marathon). ;)

Have a great night... we are looking forward to the Philbot invasion. :woohoo:

Looking good at the present moment:thumbsup2

Howard - I'll be thinking of you today and absolutely understand your need for the mental benefits of a good run:hug: Please let us know how it goes:grouphug:

Cindy - Worried about your cat so please give us an updatepopcorn::

Mike - Sorry about the phantom pains:headache: Hopefully they've left the building by now:) Good to see you're bringing the DD's - I'll appreciate the sound of little voices so I don't miss mine too much:love:

Jen - Great to hear we haven't scared you off from the WISH Meet;) . How'd the run go yesterdaypopcorn::

Lou - No sense going to the expo on Friday solo:rolleyes1 Wait until Saturday and hang with all of us:cloud9:

I'm hoping to get a solid 7 miles in this morning. Gotta go to Church then out to breaky with the fam and then hopefully it'll get done:yay: .

Have a great day y'all. Counting down the days now:grouphug:

Good to see you're bringing the DD's - I'll appreciate the sound of little voices so I don't miss mine too much:love:
Sara - Trust me when I say that the "sound of little voices" eminating from my little ladies and the hushed whispers and murmers from your DD's have NOTHING in common.:rotfl:

And stop posting those weather reports there Willard Scott. Even good ones are going to drive Cindy and Jodi over the edge with anxiety.

Hey Everyone: One week from today we'll be lining up for Philly! :cool1:

Whoo hooo the weather is looking good for next week. :cool1:

Howard- Wishing you well on your PF. Keep stretching and icing.

Sara- How'd your 7 miler go?

Mike- I do seem to remember your phantom pain runs for other taper weeks too. How are you feeling this morning?

Cindy- Is your furbaby back from the vet? :cat: How are you feeling?

Chester- I think I remember that you were running this weekend. How'd it go?

Jodi- Hey girl. I'm so excited for the constant chatter coming from you to help get me through the course.

Jen- Hi :wave2: I'm looking forward to meeting you at Cam and Howard's place.

Colleen- How are you doing during this taper week? Did you get a walk in this weekend?

Lou- Are you taking the cheesesteak orders for us?

SilverSteve- Are you out there at all? How are you doing?

OK, I'm having a nice weekend with my girls, DD7 pooh: and DD10 princess: while DW is in DC for a conference. Friday night we went to Chuck E Cheese's and then saw High School Musical 3. Last night we made chili and watched Kung Fu Panda. Today we're going to our children's museum (the Strong Museum) for a DVC travel show. There's going to be performers from WDW there too (the Dapper Dans from Main Street and a drummer group from Animal Kingdom).

I was able to get a 6.25 mile run in yesterday. I waited for the rain to stop, and ran in the evening. Five loops around my neighborhood, and I stopped every time I got to my driveway. I felt pretty relaxed. Finished in a little over an hour for a 10 mpm pace. I'm trying to make sure I rest up to heal up my hip.

See you all soon.

Morning all.

Nothing good to report on the fur baby front. He's still at the animal hospital.:sad2: They were going to send him home yesterday, but then he started throwing up again. Matt was already on his way to pick him up, so at least he got to see him and said actually looks pretty good. The vet thinks it is a thyroid thing and maybe he needs more time on the medicine before it starts working :confused3 I'm trying not to be too worried. We're waiting to hear something this morning.

Mike - I hope your phantom/real pains are done. Your run sounds like my 16 last weekend. Everything hurt (some major pain on the top of my foot and sharp pain in my knee) and really annoying things kept happening - like I had to stop and take my shoe off 3 times because I managed to get a rock in it. Seriously 3 times. Also, I apparently didn't sufficiently rinse out my water bottle when I washed it because I had some nice soapy water. And Arlington County picked that weekend to shut off the water fountains

Jen - I look forward to meeting you.

Howard - Good luck on your run.

Dave - I'm glad to hear you had another good run. I hope your hip cooperates next weekend.

Sara - Hmm, the accuweather forecast is very different from weather.com. Does this mean I need to obsessively check both??:scared1:

As for me - I think I am fully recovered from my evil stomach illness. I ran yesterday for the first time since Tuesday. It was a pretty rough run, which I was expecting. I ran 5 miles very slowly, but my HR was pretty high. Of course, I'm not sure whether to attribute that to my illness or the fact that it was 70 degrees with 100% humidity:scared: (It was, however, a good reminder to not complain about it being too cold next week). The weather here is crazy. Right now its about 40 with 20 mile an hour winds.

Yesterday, I did have to laugh at the number of people out running who must not have checked the weather before heading out. If you looked out the window, it looked cold, dark, and dreary, but it was 70 degrees and I was dripping in sweat in short sleeves and shorts. But, I saw more than one person in tights and long sleeves or turtlenecks. That can't have been very comfortable.

Cindy: Howard- Good luck on your run.

Dave: Howard- Wishing you well on your PF. Keep stretching and icing.

Sara: Howard - I'll be thinking of you today and absolutely understand your need for the mental benefits of a good run Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the good wishes. I am just getting in from my run. 46 degrees with a stiff wind, I am sure wind-chills are in the high 30's. Cam dropped me about 3 miles away and I ran home through neighborhoods, in circles in parking lots and through developments to get the miles in.

I ran with the arch support in my shoe. I am glad that it fit and that it hits the arch in the right spot. I and the foot felt good throughout the run. I did stretch before and once during the run. I am going to ice it as a precaution after I am done posting. I did take the anti-inflammatory this morning which (I am sure) is helping right now.

Here are the results:

Miles: 6.14
Time: 52:50
Pace: 8:32

Splits: 8:34, 8:24, 8:12, 8:31, 8:55, 8:39

Things went pretty well with the run. I am happy to have finished feeling good. I didn't feel like I pushed it at all out there.

I think I will try to run Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and stop there prior to the race. I will keep the mileage low though (6, 5 and 3) leading up to Philly. (Weather permitting... I will not run on a dreadmill).

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

:grouphug:

Howard

Hey, everyone!
Jen -- so glad you are coming for dinner Saturday.
Cindy -- Thinking of your furbaby and sending pixiedust: and :goodvibes

See everyone soon!

Mike - They have been trying to kick Rick's Steaks for 6 months. I guess they finally gave Rick the boot. They are supposed to be replaced by Tony Lukes (much better place). We can run over to see if they have already made the switch.

Howard - Sometimes something like this injury helps take some pressure off. Now you can just focus on enjoying the run and let the chips fall as they may. You may want to even dial it down a bit this week. No need to run 6 and 5...I'm taking it real easy this week (5, 3, 3, 2, or something like that.)

Sara - Even if I go on Friday to the expo I will probably go again on Saturday to catch up with everyone. Yes, like Mike said, no more weather updates. Let's not jinx it.

Dave - Kung Fu Panda and HS Musical 3? I think I would rather be at the dentist but you gotta do what you gotta do. At least you got in some good miles. Looks like you are ready.

Cindy - Sorry to hear your cat is still at the vet. Hopefully everything works out. I passed on running in the heat/humidity yesterday. Glad I did. You're right, let's not complain about the cold. Running in the cold today was nice.

Hello everyone else!

Got in 8 miles in cold/windy conditions. It kind of felt like snow. I ran a decent 8:35 mpm pace. I have a busy week ahead so I think I'll be toning it down this week. I'll squeeze some miles in somewhere.

Hey, last night we rented Kung Fu Panda as well. I didn't really watch it, but the kids laughed out loud frequently.

Lou, yeah on your 8 miles. although I don't like the "snow" feel you described.

HOward, wow, pretty impressive pace!:thumbsup2

Cindy, poor kitty. I hope she will be home soon...and healthy.

Dave, sounds like you and girls have/had a great weekend. DH will be parenting next weekend when I am in Philly with a bunch of crazies,:clown: :crazy2: :hyper2: :dancer: :drinking1 I always know the kids are in great hands. They always have a great time when I am gone.

This is for Mike....Let's TALK WEATHER...what is everyone going to wear?? How many layers? Are you going to wear a hat or cap? What about mitts? I am definitely wearing pants/tights, but should I wear another layer over top while we wait for the race to start?:confused3

Jodi, Sara, Jen, hey girls.

Nothing to report on the training front this weekend, it was a major parenting weekend...music camp all day Saturday and homework, book reports, house cleaning, etc. today. :sad2: We all feel we were robbed of a weekend.

Quick post

We got our fur baby back tonight. He still hasn't eaten in several days, so hopefully he's going to be ok. Thank you all for the well wishes.

I ran 12 horrible miles earlier. I was really struggling. Not exactly a confidence booster. I'm just going to try to forget about it, not really much else I can do at this point.

Colleen - I haven't even begun to obsess about what to wear.:lmao: I need more certainty about the weather before I can do that.

Howard and Lou - I'm glad you both had good runs!

Cam - I'm looking forward to seeing you again!

Cindy: glad the kitty is home, hope she is feeling better

I'm totally in the obsessing what to wear mode. The weather can't decide what it wants to do-- yesterday was warm and muggy and today it was full on blustery winter. I've only run in hot/humid so this cold thing is new to me. I usually run indoors on the TM, so the weather don't play much of a role until race day. I just went out and got tights but can't decide what type of shirt/layering to do. I also have a head band to keep my ears warm.. not sure.
