Not to add to the bunch of walking wounded on this thread but I am seriously frightened:scared1: about my ability to drive 5 hours to Philly in the car on Friday, let alone the 13.1 miles I have to cover on Sunday:sad1:

I did something unknown to my back:scared: . Not wrenching it or anything else but I am in agony:mad: . Way, way low back pain (think back labor) and sitting at work today is still questionable:rolleyes1 . I am guessing it was yoga related yet it didn't hurt until I started running yesterday. I did run 3 miles this morning but only after soaking and gentle stretches to loosen it up. I am more concerned about the drive than the run - if I have to walk it then I walk it but it's the sitting that isn't good right now.

Colleen - I'll wear my race ready bike shorts or my CWX capri tights, my new race ready WISH shirt (if it arrives before I leave on Friday) that Mel mailed out last week, a hat and definitely fleece gloves. I may wear a tech vest over my shirt if the temps call for it although I won't discuss the weather from here on out:rotfl: My kids always have a great time when I'm gone as well:confused3

Cindy - Sorry about the less than stellar run but like you said, no sense sweating it now:) . Glad your cat is home and hopefully improving:hug:

Lou - Good to hear you're wanting to head over to the expo on Saturday as well:thumbsup2 Nice job on the 8 miles:cheer2:

Howard - Congrats on a great run:banana: I like your plan for mileage this week and hope you're able to do it all outside:yay: .

Dave - How was the DVC travel showpopcorn:: ? It sounds like you had a great solo weekend with the DD's:cloud9: . Nice job on the 6.25:cool1: .

Well, I'm going to play it by ear from here on out with respect to mileage:rolleyes1 . I need the back feeling better without the help of drugs and I need to be able to tolerate the drive without crying the whole way:sad1: since I have to do a customer visit on Friday in Atlantic City.

Hey All!

Trying to catch up with all the posts I missed & this is what I've come up with...

Cindy's cat is home :yay: but her 12 mile run to the vet sucked; Mike's LR phantoms hurt his feelings & followed him home, but his daughters "little voices" scared them away; Dave has officially started his job in the PR dept. @ Disney & is refusing to run anywhere except around the block that surrounds his home; Sara is experiencing back labor & forgot how to drive & can control the weather; Howard's wife dropped him off in the middle of nowhere & demanded that he run home or else she would hide his anti-inflammatory meds; Lou is going to visit Philly every day this week, including a double shot @ the expo Fri. AND Sat. & likes it cold; Colleen obviously has more than 2 kids b/c she spent all weekend @ band camp doing homework while trying on different running outfits; Chester was too busy tending to his 15 cats to post or run; Chickpea, Ceci, Hummus Steve has obviously dropped off the face of the earth & will not be in Philly; Jen's wondering what she's gotten herself into with this thread; and I obviously was too busy putting in the miles this weekend to post ;) .

Did I miss anything?

Where is the hand-clapping smiley?:dance3: :cheer2:

Nice summary.

Happy today is Monday, I had a terrible weekend. It was just one of those blah weather weekends that just throws everyone into a state of doldrums.:sad2:

SAra, what? Say it isn't so...get that back better girl. Are you at work today?

Cindy, I am glad you and Matt will be around after the marathon. Anyone else? Jodi, no need to respond...

Thanks Jodi, the people at work now think I'm crazy because I laugh loudly while reading bizarre web pages... :lmao:

Sara - I hope your back feels better.

Jodi - Excellent post.

I'm kind of with Colleen on this one, I'm somewhat glad its Monday. This weekend really sucked. The fur baby still hasn't eaten and threw up 2 more times - it is this horrible bright green stuff now (I guess from the medicine). I'm getting really worried. We separated him from the other cats today so that we'll be able to tell if he tries to eat anything. I wish I could have stayed home with him. Stupid job.

Jodi - That about sums it up. Nice post:thumbsup2 I do hope Steve is okay because even if he is bagging Philly, I don't think he'd just blow us off entirely as opposed to giving us the 411. We're all family and he's got to know we're worried about his lack of posting:upsidedow

Colleen - I'm at work:sick: . I'm moving reeaalll slow which isn't a speed I'm accustomed to but I can't take time-off this week:confused3 . I am not too stressed about the whole thing. I just need to get the inflammation down and ice/heat it religiously. It feels more like a pinched nerve than a muscle thing:sad2: . Either way, I need to be able to tolerate sitting all day in the car on Friday so whatever it takes to get to that point, I'm all about it:hippie: .

Cindy - Terribly sorry to hear about your poor cat:hug: . I SO hear you about the job preventing you from taking care of things today:guilty: . Please continue to keep us updated and I'll keep praying.

Here's to a week that flies by and safe travels to all:grouphug:

Howard's wife dropped him off in the middle of nowhere & demanded that he run home or else she would hide his anti-inflammatory meds.

Jodi~ Cam reads this thread, don't give her any ideas!

Sara~ Feel better fast... take it easy. No "moving treadmills" until further notice! :lmao: Unless it is sure to help the lower back. ;)

Cindy~ I hope kitty shows major improvement today.

Hi to everyone else!!! Looking forward to this weekend A LOT! :thumbsup2

:grouphug:

Howard

Chester- I think I remember that you were running this weekend. How'd it go?

Dave
I ran an easy 3 miles on Saturday at a 11:02 mpm and 8 miles at marathon pace on Sunday averaging 10:45 mpm. So, it looks like I'll be running the race somewhere between 10 and 12 mpm.

Miranda has a soccer game tonight, then I'm scheduled for 3 on Tuesday and 4 on Wednesday. Thursday I've got a homeowners association Board of Directors meeting and then another soccer game. W fly out Friday at noon.

Cindy
Has your kitty been eating any plants in your house? I hope the kitty is feeling better and I'm glad that your stomach issues are over.

Happy tapering and weather/clothing obsessing to everyone else.

I just had an - OMG I'm running a marathon this weekend:scared1: :scared: :scared1: :scared: - moment.

Sorry - just needed to share.

Cindy - I hear you. I was in Philadelphia this morning and drove through University City which is like Miles 8 -9. I was thinking, "I'll be running through here in a few days". :scared1:

In spite of what Jodi says I will not be back in the city again until Friday. At that time I will be meeting someone for breakfast about 1/2 mile from the start/finish line.

Howard - I think you asked me a questions about parking a few days ago. Yes, it's just like the PDR, only more cars. My plan is to get there early (5:30-5:45AM) and park on the street. I'll probably hang in the warm car for a while and then meet up with everyone at some designated meeting place.

No running today. My legs are sore for some reason. I'll go out tomorrow but it will be at an easy pace all week.

Lou

I'll probably park at Two Logan near my old office. Hopefully there will still be spaces!

Hello. I'm back on the grid. :wave2:

Jodi, Mike, Sara, Cindy, Dave, Howard, Colleen, Lou, Chester (and anyone I missed):

Hi!

I have just been reading all your posts: long runs, races, aches, pains, PRs, pre-race jitters. Sorry I can't do an individual message for each of you; I'm just overwhelmed with catching up--I haven't even been lurking, and my last post was on page 190-something. :guilty:

Sadly, I will not be joining you in Philly this coming weekend; another race my rickety body is preventing me from running. My achilles has been great; however a setback with one of my knees has left me with some slight instability that prevents me from running more than 5-6 miles at a time. I've just been so bummed out about my string of injuries that I didn't have the heart to even log-on over the last several weeks (selfish, I know--bad me!). OK, enough about me already.

You guys have been tremendous with your training and racing: I'm proud of you. :thumbsup2 I know several of you are dealing with injuries: PD and positive thoughts to all of you.

OK, I've written my tale. I'll be around regularly now. I'm just bummed I'll miss you guys in Philly and in WDW in Jan. Don't excomminucate me from the thread! :scared: I'll get healthy and catch up with you all at race in the not too distant future.

Take care.

Steve~ So sorry we won't have the pleasure of your company this weekend in Philly. Please take care and recover so we can see you in a race in the not too distant future. Keep warm up there!

I just returned from running:

Miles: 6.0
Time: 52:27
Pace: 8:44

I felt pretty good, but without much energy most of the run. I guess that'll happen after working all day. :confused3 I also bloodied a toe in the process...not good. I felt it jamming the front of my show the whole way, but there was little I could do about it. I think the arch support pushes the foot a fit to the front to cause this. :confused3

I will probably run a few tomorrow, but I might bag it if the weather gets too cold. The forecast for the rest of the week looks crappy and COLD!

Tuesday - High 38 Low 27
Wednesday - High 38 Low 29
Thursday - High 40 Low 29
Friday - High 41 Low 27
Saturday - High 38 Low 28
Sunday - Partly Cloudy High 39 Low 37

:grouphug:

Howard

Chick Pea - So sad you won't be joining us :sad1: :grouphug: (I hope the knee resolves itself), but we'll catch up in the spring @ a race somewhere, right? Just don't be such a stranger on the thread! We're here for you, man :hippie: , gripe away! Lord knows I do :sad2:

In spite of what Jodi says I will not be back in the city again until Friday
Uh-huh...we'll see;) . Hey Lou, you think I'll get busted if Bruce hands me an ipod @ the 1/2 way point? Did you see a lot of others there last year with contraband stuck in their ears? Just my luck I run 24 miles & someone pulls me off & disqualifies me @ mile 25 for wearing an ipod :rotfl: .

Howard - Nice pace & miles...eew about the toe  . I think you can stop running now b4 Philly.

Cindy - I'm trying NOT to think about the fact that I'll be attempting to run 26.2 miles in less than a week :scared1: . How's the cat?

Steve - Thanks for posting:thumbsup2 . We still  and are glad to hear you're hanging in there, albeit unable to join us in Philly this weekend:sad1: . Hope the Maine winter is kind to you this year and please don't be a stranger:grouphug:. Loads of :wizard: for your injuries.

Jodi - What are you talking about with the no iPod nonsensepopcorn:: ?! I am well aware of the USATF rule but I haven't seen the rule posted anywhere on the Philly website or on the e-mail confirmation card to bring to the expo so I am assuming it's not going to be strictly enforced. I don't want to ponder not being able to have my iPod:scared1: for 13.1 miles!

Howard - Another great run:cheer2: despite the toe issue:headache: Take a few days off:)

Cindy - You're way too :rotfl2: . You should be the last one spazzing out about 26.2 this weekend:worship: .

The back is feeling a bit better:cool1: . I'm confident the icing and resting with regular ibuprofen for a few days will do the trick:thumbsup2

If I feel okay in the a.m. I may attempt to walk and/or run a bit.

Have a wonderful evening:grouphug:

Jodi - I don't think you need to worry about getting busted unless you are planning to win the race. I don't remember how many had them last year but I have noticed throughout the year that they are becoming less and less common. At the PDR almost no one had them. I ran with one for the first 3 miles and then turned it off. I say if you want to run with it then just put it under the hat you'll be wearing in the cold temps.

Steve - Sorry you will not be making it. Hopefully we can meet at a race in the spring (VA Beach for St. Pats Day?).

Hey everyone!

No running to report. Still a little sore...not sure why when I consider I haven't run nearly as many miles as some of you guys. I know some of you hate the cold but I'm kinda hoping it will be cold but not freezing cold. My body tends to do better with the cold temps (no overheating and joints don't swell as much).

I'll be in A.C. all day today. WISH me luck!

Lou

ReallY?? Wow! I will definitely have mine under my parka!:rolleyes1

Steve, sorry you are ailing, get better and stop in often, we love to hear from you.

Hey everyone: just wanted to check in to say hi. I ran a little over 3 miles yesterday, and still felt pretty good. I also can't believe I'm actually running this thing on the weekend. See you all soon.
