Ok, now I am FREAKING OUT!!!!!!

My Polar Watch BROKE this morning (as in the band broke off). WTH am I going to do? I need my data!! I am so used to being able to tell what pace I am running, my cadence, stride length, HR, etc.

I am so dependent on my gadget, I'm not sure I know how to run without it.:scared1: :scared1:

Can you get a new watch band for it, or is it something more integrated with the watch?

Have you tried staples? :lmao:

Seriously, duct tape might work too. :rolleyes1

I feel your pain. Can you source a new band from somewhere fast (as in REALLY Frick'in fast)?

I am sure you can run without it, you might feel like something is missing though.

Ok, I am now calm.

I just got off the phone with Polar and they are sending me a new band (Dave - It's somewhat integrated with the watch, but when I spoke with the rep, he said I should easily be able to attach a new one). They were going to send it free of charge, but I paid the extra $20 for fast shipping so that I could guarantee it would get here before Saturday.

In other good news - My furbaby is a bit improved! We finally got him to eat a little last night (wet food) and he threw up then, but not this morning.

Steve - Sorry to hear about the bum knee, but good to hear from you again.

Sara - I'm glad that your back is feeling better!

Cindy
Has your kitty been eating any plants in your house?

We actually did have one plant. It was Matt's idea after the Land boat ride (I'm 100% serious). His original research showed that it was safe and non-toxic. However, after we had it for a few months, he did find something that suggested there was a small chance it could cause vomiting. We are 99.9% sure that none of the cats ever went near the plant, but we did throw it away as soon the vomiting started.

I just had an - OMG I'm running a marathon this weekend:scared1: :scared: :scared1: :scared: - moment.

Sorry - just needed to share.

I completely forgot about the marathon this morning. Miranda's HS Football Team has a playoff game Friday night and an article in the paper said that reserved seat ticket holders needed to purchase their tickets by 3:00pm today. So I called Tracy to see if she wanted to go and was laughed at when she said that we wouldn't be in town. DOH!!!.

Cindy
Great news about kitty cat. I'm glad he's starting to eat again.

Steve
Welcome back, Dude.

Glad to see that you've got your marathon-related stress under control, there, Link ;) . Sheesh.

So, Dodo, what are you doing with marathon-related stress now that the big day if approaching??:confused3

And where has Mike been the last few days? I am waiting for his words of wisdom.:yay:

Rest day for me again today.:rolleyes1 I tried a new pair of shoes yesterday (same brand, but new) and I have a few aches and pains today that I didn't have before. So I guess my old Sauconys will be riding up to Philly with me Saturday!! This Saturday!!:scared1: (That was for you Cindy and Jodi!)

I bought some new running gloves/mitts today.:yay:

No training for me today either! :rolleyes1 I elected to get a haircut after work and by the time I got home it was way too dark (and cold). When I left work today it was almost blizzard conditions for a while. Our first snowfall. I had about .5" on my car for a while. They were widely scattered snow showers, but heavy in some areas. I did see an updated forecast that lists Sunday's temps to be: High: 42 Low: 31 Mostly Sunny/Cloudy.

I guess that is good, right? :confused3 Better than some alternatives. Besides, Lou will like it, he likes anything! :lmao:

I am a bit :scared1: about this weekend too. At least I don't have a high expectation for a PR this go around so that does take some (OK, a lot) of pressure off. I know I'll finish, just don't know how long it'll take. The PF issue is in the back of my mind too. I think I'll run through any pain the day of to get this one in the bag and recover later.

Chester~ If you pass me at some point (like you did at Disney-MGM during Goofy one year), make me keep up with you. :thumbsup2

Enjoy the rest of your respective tapers. The game is almost a-foot!

So, Dodo, what are you doing with marathon-related stress now that the big day if approaching??:confused3
I'm just ignoring it & sleeping :lmao: . Won't think about it anymore...:rolleyes1 . ugh, i feel nauseated!

Oh, and Mike's busy picking out his outfit(s)!

Ran my last "important" run this morning 7 miles with 2 at marathon race pace. I'm just not feelin' it:confused3 :sad2: I don't know what my problem is, but this should have been a relatively easy run at it just seemed like a lot of work. I was feeling so much better a few weeks ago. My last 20 miler was great and everything after that has been less than stellar. I'm getting kind of worried.

What should I wear on my head for the race? Running cap? Headband/earwarmer thing? Full on cold weather hat?:confused3 Opinions? Suggestions? Comments?

Hey Everyone,

I had to go up to Ohio for a few days for my Aunt's funeral. Tough on my uncle, but she'd been sick for pretty much as long as I can remember so it's one of those "for the best" deals.

Steve - Sorry to hear your knee is giving you problems. Hang in there and keep in touch here.

Cindy - Don't worry about the bad runs. You've put the work in, doing a nice taper, all that jazz. It's just the mental thing playing tricks with your body. Just remember it's a blip on the screen and not the true picture of your readiness.

Colleen - I've been having a hell of a time finding a skirt that looks good over my tights! As such, I am still undecided about the outfit as a whole. I will probably start the race wearing one of those headband/ear cover thingies if it's breezy.

Jodi - Your synopsis post from a couple of days ago is some of your finest work! Don't know if you can run at all, but you are in excellent smart-a$$ shape.

Sara - How's the back today?

How do you do to the rest of you all.

I did get one almost 8 mile run in while up north. It was cold, a bit windy and snowing most of the time. Good practice in case Lou gets his wish for the weekend weather.

Chester~ If you pass me at some point (like you did at Disney-MGM during Goofy one year), make me keep up with you. :thumbsup2

Howard
I think it may have been for the Minnie. Either way, if I pass you I will certainly spend some time with you and see if you want to stick together until the finish. Likewise, if you pass me, please see if I'm capable of hanging with you to the finish.

Mike
I'm thinking that "little black tights" are classic enough and won't need to be accessorized with a skirt.

Happy final days of tapering to all,

Chester

Hi Guys & Gals:yay:

Mike - Terribly sorry for your loss:hug:

Cindy - I am debating on head gear myself (see below)popcorn::

Howard - No stressing allowed:scared1:

Colleen - Elaborate on the gloves please:rolleyes1

No running here either although today I've started thinking I need a whole slew of new gear so I'm going to Dick's on my lunch hour:confused3 . Nothing like the 11th hour to think about things such as this:laughing: . I HATE the cold and I have Raynaud's Syndrome so once the hands and feet get cold it's all over:sad2: . Yes, I'm a hot mess all the way around:rotfl: :rotfl2: Anyway, I want to get glove liners and sock liners, maybe a running fleece hat and a new pair of sunglasses. If nothing else, I appreciate that running is a heat generating activity:rolleyes1 So glad I'll be freezing my a## off at the starting line with all of you in a few short days :grouphug:

Happy Wednesday You Freaking-Out Bots!

Sara - Yeah, how's the back? I never find anything @ Dick's (teehee), their selection is beat @ our local store & way too expensive for me! Let us know how you made out on your shopping spree!

Cindy - Stop wiggin' out, Mike's right (for once) about this one, your body is pissed @ you! Don't run anything more than 3 miles or so from here on in...and only do that once! No way will I be running anymore until Sun.;) . How's the puddytat? Oh yeh, just run in a baseball hat, that's all you'll need if it's not windy.

Mike - So sorry to hear about your aunt :grouphug: .

Chester - Cold down there in FL this a.m., huh? Frilly tights all pressed & ready to go?

Colleen - Definitely stay with the old shoes, I get aches with a new pair, too, even though they're the same brand, model, etc...Can't wait to see your cute little mittens :cutie: . BTW, aren't you from Canada? 37 should feel like summer to you!

Howard - Don't be scared, you'll do fine, no pressure, like you said. Just carry a pocketful of anti inflamathigies Your forecast has been the best so far, you are now the official weather-updater-bot.

Dave - Did you write down those directions?

Lou - I know, I know, too busy in Philly this week to post, that's OK, we'll be there too on Sat.!;)

Mike - I know, I already addressed you, but I couldn't write anything else in that other one else you would think me callous. So what gives, are you going with the black tights & pink shorts or just the skirt?

OK, so if anyone passes me on the course don't try to encourage me, talk to me, inspire me, console me, touch me, pep-talk me, etc...just keep on going & make pretend I'm not even there. Chances are I'll be staring @ the ground & won't see you anyway!:flower3: Can't wait to see everyone!

Sara,

I bought these gloves at Ross. They had tons of them in the men's department in different sizes. They were $9.99, I like them because they are gloves but you can tuck your fingers into a built-in windproof, water-resistant "hood".

I always run in those cheap $1 tiny gloves from Target, but decided I need something a bit more for the weekend. I will pack both and see if the cold up in Philly is a dry cold or not.:rotfl:

Jodi, I agree with you about Dick's. Ours is really bad too, I never find anything I like and it is really expensive.

Mike - I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. I hope that your uncle is doing ok.

Howard - Wow - you got real snow yesterday? Crazy. We actually had a few flurries here.

Jodi - Ok. I'm all set to ignore you;)

Sara - I hope you find some nice new gear!

Colleen - I really like those gloves. I may need to get a pair. I have a feeling that it may end up being a cold winter here.

I had to :rotfl: at the following caveat in the description:

(**Compatibility of this product is not guaranteed for all electronic devices.)

:rotfl: I liked the description that they are an "articulated fit".:confused3 Not a word I would use to describe a fit of a glove.

Main Entry: ar·tic·u·lat·ed
Pronunciation: \-ˌlā-təd\
Function: adjective
Date: 1899
of a vehicle : having a hinge or pivot connection especially to allow negotiation of sharp turns <articulated lorry> <articulated bus>
