Petition Started By WDW CM's to Delay Reopening

Where is the petition from Universal employees?
Well, it looks like this petition was placed by a small group of employees without the knowledge of their unions.

Disney employs a significantly higher number of people than Universal, some of which are elderly or have underlying health concerns. It stands to reason that with more employees, there's more likelihood that someone would speak up.

Also, keep in mind that this is not the first petition. One was started for Disneyland Cast Members over a week ago. When one is introduced, others will follow.

Also, as a note - the $600/week is set to run out at the end of July, which will probably be only 2-3 weeks after these CMs are set to go back to work and really begin interacting with crowds. Money doesn't seem like a factor.

Also the extra $600 runs out pretty soon and doesn’t look like it’s getting renewed. I believe these cast members care about their health and the health of the guests.

Exactly. Also, many people who are working remotely are still doing so voluntarily even though they would actually prefer to be working back at their offices. I know lots people who *could* go in but are continuing to work from home even though they would much prefer to be back at their offices.

This thing is nowhere close to over, and in an area that’s experiencing a huge spike right now, CM concerns are legitimate. I also have the same concerns about WDW opening ... from 1,200 miles away. These CMs will be in contact with thousands of guests daily. They will be risking their health and the health of their families day in and day out.

There will be another stimulus.

I thought the at risk CMs had options. Also, they have a union.

But people really want to go back. Their systems were slammed today with park reservations.

At least Disney will have extensive safety measures in place. So many people in my area have been at work the entire time while customers refuse to wear masks and practice distancing.

I do feel for them. It’s going to be rough in the parks.
I agree despite signs on the doors at businesses, people just ignore the request and don’t wear masks. Numbers are UP, whether it be from more testing or delayed reporting or simply... Covid Isn’t gone yet.
Stay safe all.

Of course they were slammed - they were taking parks reservations all the way until Sept. 2021! That’s 15 months worth of park reservations all launching on the same day. Not just the next month or two.

Well, I don't think majority of trying today were for 2021, just a lucky few.

;)

There will be another stimulus.
We don't know that, and neither do the CMs. The government has been touting a "second stimulus" since before the first one has passed, and there has been 0 momentum whatsoever on getting that through congress.

Regardless, as others have said - Universal employees have also started their own petition. I agree that Disney should pay their employees more, but I don't think that's the reason why CMs started this petition. Some are afraid for their well-being or that of their family members, and rightfully so. They will be interacting with hundreds, if not thousands of people throughout the day, all of which could be coming from places around the world. Even with safety measures, it's no guarantee they won't get sick.

As a local, I don't feel it is safe for the parks to open. I have read articles about ICUs in florida being full, I just don't have a good feeling about reopening. Most people down here seem to think the pandemic is over though.

I feel bad for the CMs. I would not want to be working in a theme park during this crisis.
