PETA After Ben & Jerry's

It's simple really. PETA works these campaigns from the "shock and awe" angle. They don't mean to actually use human milk to make ice cream...they say these things to stir up controversy so that the normally "blind to it all" public takes a moment to consider the treatment of dairy cattle. Obviously, as seen here...from a PR standpoint, it works.

I wonder what percentage of it backfires. Personally I'm much more ambivalent about animal rights because of extremist groups like PETA then before I ever heard of them. I know I'm not alone.

So Ben and Jerry has cows all over their packaging to reflect that it comes from cows...would they change the packaging to reflect that it now comes from breasts? Could they sell that in the store? Wouldn't it be rated R or at the very least PG packaging. And what about the new names?

And what about the dairy farms? I'd pay big money to visit one of those! :lovestruc ;)

"Mommy's Mint Chocolate Chip"
Come on, let's come up with names for all the new BM cream. This could be fun.

When I was in 8th grade our city's high school made their hit list because of a fundraiser for special olympics involving lobster. I have no patience for PETA, and because of their tactics, anything that looks like animal rights makes me run the other way. I love animals, but they take things way too far. They need to be sent to their own little island so they can drink eachother's milk and commune with the lobsters to their heart's content.

Not really, yes they get press publicity but most people just :confused3 and think wasa load of nut jobs, and considering members have been prosecuted for going to animal rescue pretending to rescue animals putting them down and dumping them rather hypocritical.

PETA claims to be dedicated to protecting animals and treating them "ethically"—it’s right there in the group’s name. But killing animals that could otherwise be placed in adoptive homes isn’t terribly ethical, especially for a group whose $30 million annual income is more than enough to do the right thing instead.

In comparison, the Virginia Beach SPCA, right down the road from PETA’s Norfolk headquarters, managed to adopt out almost 70% of the animals in its care last year. And it did it on a relative shoestring budget.

Adding PETA's 2007 numbers to the mix, we can now document that the group has put down over 19,200 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. While it's possible that some of these animals were too broken or sick to be rehabilitated, humane societies in Virginia managed to save an average of nearly 65 percent of their animals in 2007. PETA found adoptive homes for less than 1 percent.

That is literally sick and remind me to be careful of where I eat if I ever go to Switzerland.

Cruel to cows? What does PETA think would happen to all of these dairy cows if they no longer produced milk? And since PETA thinks meat is bad too, what would happen to all of the cattle? Would PETA take care of all of them?

I love their health comments. They sure do know how to twist things around at times.

What's going to happen to all the lactating women they want hooked up to machines? :scared1:

And what do they think would happen to a cow that lived in the wild? Death by wolfpack is not the preferred way to go.

Hey, this could start a whole new field for WAHM's :lmao:

And don't forget all the related threads here on the DIS!

They could start by calling it Ben and B**bies for a start!

PETA would kill them. They are better off not existing.
