PETA After Ben & Jerry's

But I know how completely ridiculous it is for adult humans to be drinking food that is made to cause baby cows to gain HUNDREDS of pounds in a short amount of time! NOT the best nutrition for a human who doesn't need to grow anymore.

Adult humans who retain the ability to digest milk sugars is a result of evolution. Nomadic goat, cattle and sheep herdsmen from northen Europe and other locations retained this enzyme into adulthood over many generations of natural selection as a means to utilize foods readily available to them (produced by their animals). That is why many people who are lactose 'intolerant' fall within certain ethnic and regional backgrounds from which dairy producing species were not part of their traditional diets.
As for weight gain, calves often weigh around 100 pounds at birth and will weigh 1200-1500 pounds as adults. The bulk of that weight is gained after weaning. Still, due to the high fat content in raw milk, it is generally recommended that adult humans drink milk that is 2% butterfat or less. (Milk without the cream removed is 3.5 to 5.5% fat.)

It's intriguing to think that evolution or creation caused something to happen to an animal where a human needed to come in and do something lest bad things happen. I know you were just told this...my head-scratching is at your friend's info.
This isn't evolution but selective breeding of domesticated animals. Humans bred these animals for specific purposes and therefore we are responsible for the welfare (not rights) of these animals by caring for their "new", specialized needs.

B00BYLICIOUS DOUBLE SCOOP! :crowded:

"ice CREAM....Just like Mom use to Make!"

Comes in 3 sizes. B-Cup, C-Cup & the very Popular D-Cup!

While this proposal makes a lot more biological sense than using cow milk, I wouldn't be a fan of "Nipple Ripple".:rotfl:

How do you figure that?

Well cows are another species. So I can kind of see the point. Human milk is for humans (baby humans, not adults, but still). Cow milk is not really for humans, even though a lot of us eat it. And breastmilk IS really good for you! I wouldn't eat breastmilk ice cream, but I do see the point. I don't agree with PETA about a lot of things, but I admit they aren't totally out of left field here. But I repeat: I would not eat breastmilk ice cream!!!:rotfl:

I respectfully disagree. Milk serves a purpose and that is to provide nourishment to living beings. I don't think it matters what kind of milk and what being it is being given to.

Remember, you can milk a cat (according to Ben Stiller). :goodvibes

I think the point is that cows make mildk for calves, moms make milk for their babes. The fact that we use their milk is our choice. It is funny how the mind works. It is perfectly acceptable to drink milk from a cow, but people here turn up their noses (oftentimes) at goats milk. Water buffalo is the largest milk producer in the world.
