Loved the Colonel Sanders story, and I loooooove popcorn chicken! There are convenience stores like that, although I've never seen a tanning salon, in the very small town in Tennessee my family is from.

Isn't there something you can do with animal hides called tanning? I think, in a town like that, I would guess that's probably what it meant, not a tanning SALON

Great update Dawn! I made it to that KFC once too, it was so neat! And it is kind of funny to know that y'all find it funny that there are drive-thru cigarette windows... we have those everywhere here! Plus, I bet they might have had a rental movie service... those seem to be a popular combination around here! Can't wait for the next one!

Oh Dawn, dang you! I had a nice home cooked meal all planned and then I read your update and guess where I had to stop. I haven't had KFC in I don't know how long but I read your update and could not think of anything else I could possibly eat. On the next Monday weigh in I will put the blame for any increase in poundage squarely on your shoulders!

Not lurking, I've only just got on to this thread so I have lots of reading to do!! Have read a couple of pages and thought I would post to let you know I've subbed (I know you hate lurkers).

There is only one downside to this and other excellent trip reports - the family think I am mad when I sit there in the evening laughing my head off at a computer screen.

You made me cry with your last update ~ how can you have been with my family for only a few hours and know them perfectly?? That was the best description of Caroline I've ever heard, and it's exactly what we always say about her. Of course, I think my Mama's pretty special too; but I'm a bit prejudiced. After I read your update out loud to her, I think she started plotting when we could have y'all over again!!

What Dawn didn't mention is that she brought tons of food with her and charmed all of my friends. She brought both my kids great soccer shorts and t-shirts which they loved! It was great fun, not to mention all the cool Silpada goodies I got out of it.

Hey Dawn, I make headbands like that! If you're interested, just give me a pm. Usually, I charge about $5 for my pre-made headbands, and $10 for a custom one. My headbands are typically ones with lacy flowers and ribbons (usually for fancier things like prom dress accessories) , but I would be more than happy to make one like the ones you saw at Lynn's for Carsyn. Just let me know the colours and size of flowers she wants and I'll get it done!

I love KFC, but I'm starting to fall for Popeye's. Especially since a new one opened up right across the street from where my family lives!

I try to stay away from fast food because truthfully, I do not need it...but I have never had Popeye's!!

Mmmmm KFC... I love it, but I'm currently boycotting it. Is there a specific reason besides the fact it is so very bad for you? If we ever get that way in the car I would stop at the original, though.

Up here, it is not the norm and I think the health department would shut her down in the condition it was operating in.

Yes but it is unique tanning! Maybe it is a spray tan facility that they can use a power hose or spray you with a beer bong!

No school, she has a dental app't at 4 p.m. so we are going to have a Mom and Kid day and go dress shopping later with a camera so I can post them here!

She would be totally aghast at the mention of it, and yet it is what makes her so lovable and I cannot imagine her not like exactly who she is. When she falters, your Mom gets the biggest grin like, "Ahhh...God does settle the score eventually," and just sits back and enjoys the show!! I think Dan and I might drive down in October and take 10 days. Thinking of bringing the kids down so they can see a game of Treyner's and then fly them back while we go on our solo trip...

When I was in college, the rugby team sold t-shirts with a big red cross on the back that said give blood, play rugby. I didn't play, but I sure as heck bought one of those shirts!

Yep, there is a specific reason I'm boycotting as much as I love, love, love the chicken!

No lie, the past 4 times I have eaten there they have been rude, the food has been cold AND my order has been messed up. All together, from 3 different KFCs in 2 different states! They have forgotten my biscuit, not given me a drink(more like refused to give me one! I asked and they said it doesn't come with the meal and I said I don't care I will pay for it and they said they couldn't do that ), given me the wrong sides and given me really cold food before.

So I don't go to KFC anymore.

Haven't finished reading yet but have just got to the bit about the mileage challenge which finishes this weekend so if it is open to those outside of the US I would like to guess 5080 if it hasn't been taken yet.
