Hm...TP bombs..Such a great idea! Now I'm going to think of you the next time I use a public restroom.
Just make sure you pay attention to the shoes your intended target is wearing or you might hit the wrong target! :rolleyes1

No - he assumed we were normal folk.
Yay an update. Thank you for taking time out of life to do it. :thumbsup2
Glad to hear your dad is doing better.
My Dad is doing better and my life is just in transition. Need to get a better flow of order around here!
So I'm just curious. We are 2 months in to this trip report and I assume at some point you will get to Disney?
Yes. :thumbsup2

We will get to Disney in 6 days from Olive Garden. That may be a long time from now depending on which stories I dish out.

First is the Keys portion of the chaos...er I mean trip.;)

So sit back, settle in and look at it like we are a fine wine, taking time to become exquisite.

(or that I need to get a chapter a day in so I can write about the next trip!)

Your encouraging the voices in my head to get even for egging on the funny pants crowd! :rotfl2:

Carsyn is going to plug in her camera so I can get pics from it so I can get the next post done!

For your viewing pleasure and for all you prom dress lovers...

Here is Taylor at Prom this year sans Treyner who had finals. I explained to her how to read this thread so she might be shocked to see herself here but isn't she a knock out!!! If I looked like that in that dress I would wear it to the grocery store, the mall, Burger King, etc. etc. etc.!

Think about how cute my future (I mean way future) grandkids could be with her and Treyner.... :rolleyes1

Carsyn's is next weekend!! She is glad the sun is out now so she can get some color before then!!! Can't wait for her to have pics taken to share with you guys!!!:cheer2:

Haha. Taylor's (almost) showdown with that girl sounds very funny. It reminds me of back in highschool, when I used to act like a jealous and posessive girlfriend and would say things like, "Are YOU looking at my girl???" anytime a girl talked to her. It happened a lot since we went to an all girls school...:rotfl:

WOWZA!! She is stunning! You're right - I'd wear that everywhere too!
Prom dresses sure have changed since my high school days, that's for sure. Much more elegant and sophisticated, less bridesmaid-y.
You could have some beautiful grandkids - in a while!

Can't wait to see Carsyn's dress!!!

Chapter Nine: "How much Fried Food will Kill you?"

We woke up Saturday morning excited for the day. Treyner was already gone with Nick to the airport and we just needed to pack up, get ice in the cooler and get ready for a few hours of soccer and then a loooong journey.

The plan was originally to be in Due West S.C. but the fields were wet from recent rain and so it was now going to be in Spartanburg S.C.

This caused me to do a small happy dance because in my quest to try unique places, the "Beacon Drive-In" came up as a must do.

Guess where it is in?

Yup!

Good ole Spartanburg! It was going to be missed but with the game change to Wofford College, it was back on!

The La Quinta "book 1 room get forced to pay 2," had a mediocre breakfast spread so we choked down yogurt, waffles, fruit and I think a bowl of cereal was eaten by someone!

We followed Treyner after he got back from the Greenville airport, to Anderson, where he proceeded to park his Jeep right next to the security shack. He did not trust it alone by the dorms for over a week. I raised a smart boy! :thumbsup2

Spartanburg was not quite an hour away and after some directions from the coach, we made it there to join the team and watch. Treyner was not allowed to play simply because he did not have the credit transfers but still wanted to support the team.

Treyner and Baylor went right to the x-box and Taylor curled up to read.

(This was when we realized Carsyn got car sick  in the Booger and needed some motion sickness med's)

The campus at Wofford was beautiful.

***(Here is where I will enter some pics of the game when I get them from Carsyn)

Again, stoic buildings and white columns everywhere. It is a D1 school and the grounds showed the status of it. The athletic fields were pristine and it was a fun game to watch.

Then, there were some cheap shots and bad calls both ways and a Dad from England for the opposing team, decided to make some comments.

We were sitting right behind him and Treyner, his father's child when it comes to sporting events, let him know he thought he was an idgit.

I think the guy is used to spouting off without anyone actually acknowledging his comments and was taken aback Treyner said anything. The guy told Treyner to shut it. Treyner told the guy to grow some hair. (He had a baseball hat on which was obviously covering a very bald head.)

I felt in an instant, transplanted back to 1989 and basketball games at my first college, watching and waiting for his father to get booted from another game for arguing with a ref.

Now it was cold out that day. Like 50 degrees and windy. We had blankets from the Booger and Taylor and Carsyn were trying to avoid the stares from the other team's fan base by hiding under them. Taylor was hissing at Treyner to pinch his trap shut.

Then Treyner looked at us and was grinning like a cat that swallowed Tweetie bird.

He was not really angry.

He was tormenting the guy.

Egging him on.

Enjoying his fury.

Instead of his father, I saw myself at some level cause I might be known to get a rise out of people due to boredom. :rolleyes1

While the banter was going on, the fan base of Mr. England, which consisted of maybe 6 people, kept craning their necks to see who dare antagonize Mr. Crabby pants.

This included one blond girl who kept looking back at Treyner and my best guess was the English guy's son's, GF.

She would look at Treyner as if to say, "Real Mature," but the funny part was Treyner only said something when Mr. England did.

Dan was back in the van at this point, something he ate did not settle well and so I made sure Treyner knew if there was a brawl, he better protect me first.

Taylor was too skinny. She would die the easiest but I had a chance to live. :lmao:

Soon the game was over and we packed our frozen bodies and belongings back into the Booger and were on our way to the Beacon which was only 8 minutes away.

Now this place was featured on Guy Fierri's Triple D show

P1030849.jpg

and I knew there would be some serious food ahead!!!!

Took a few pics outside - Carsyn was not wanting her pic taken.

P1030847.jpg

I was not prepared for what we walked into.

I could not get my bearings at all. It was controlled chaos. Like a preschool daycare on crack.

It was loud.

It was fast paced.

Road runner would lose a race kind of fast.

I did not know at first which end was up but there was a kind man who pointed out the menu's on the wall in a holder and also, where the front of the line was.

Now they run this place a bit different. You stand in a line, give your order to a "caller" and he yells it back to the kitchen.

P1030850.jpg

A huge kitchen pumping out more food than Tiger did hoochies.

We were lucky enough to meet in person the greeter featured on Triple D who is blind and never misses a beat! (He is in the pic above in the red hat.)

We saw the mounds of food on plates around us and knew there was no way we needed "a-plenty" for each of us. ("a-plenty" means rings and fries BTW.)

Now I took pictures of the gluttony.

Be prepared to get a drool tray and unbutton your pants. Maybe even take them off for good measure. :cool2:

Dan just ordered grilled cheese.

P1030853.jpg

Taylor ordered a regular cheeseburger and peach cobbler.

P1030852.jpg

Treyner, Carsyn and I ordered a bacon cheese burger.

P1030856.jpg

Baylor ordered a flippin Beacon burger and almost ordered a JC pounder which I guess weighs one pound. When he saw the size of his burger, he almost died at the thought of what he could of had. He did finish every bite but I do not think he ate for almost 12 hours after that!

P1030855.jpg

P1030851.jpg

4 of us got "a-plenty." At the end of the meal - we had easily 1 full order of "'a-plenty" left.

We also split an order of jalapeno hush poppers.

P1030854.jpg

We ordered lemonade for the beverages and there were free re-fills.

Up Next: Heading to the Key's!!! :yay:

Haha. Taylor's (almost) showdown with that girl sounds very funny. It reminds me of back in highschool, when I used to act like a jealous and posessive girlfriend and would say things like, "Are YOU looking at my girl???" anytime a girl talked to her.
I was like that too in HS.

She actually is not possessive - they do live 1/2 a continent away from each other so you have to have some trust but this situation was more like, "Who do you think you are?" pirate:

Prom dresses sure have changed since my high school days, that's for sure. Much more elegant and sophisticated, less bridesmaid-y. Smart because you could wear that to a wedding or fancy dinner. It is recyclable.

The bo-peep dresses of the 80's - not so much!

You could have some beautiful grandkids - in a while!
Heavy on the "while" :worship: !
Can't wait to see Carsyn's dress!!!

It should be great!!!

Wow, the Beacon looks crazy... but good crazy. I'd go just to meet the caller dude.

BTW, have you ever been to Lambert's?? That's the throwed rolls place.

I LOVE the Beacon. The burgers, fries, and onion rings are Deeeeelicious, and I don't even want to know the calorie count! Your description of it is right on!
Preschool daycare on crack
:rotfl:
Great pics!

I feel my arteries clogging just looking at those pictures! Looks yummy!!!

Your kids are TOO cute, handsome, good -looking, whatever you want to call it. Just adorable!!! Carsyn even looked cute when she was  with the blanket in the backseat!

The Beacon is awesome. I got to eat there 2 years ago. My two undergraduate advisors grew up around Spartanburg (one went to Wofford) and they ate there at least once a week growing up. They took two of us to a conference in Spartanburg my senior year and brought us there to eat. I was confused from almost start to finish. LOL. We met that caller too. He's great.
