Persistant Infection in Leg

ER...NOW. Plus don't you have online access to your list of providers to check to see if they take your insurance? Come on step up to the plate and grow a set. Email is not the best form of communication at this time. I am guessing you are a passive, non-confrontational person. But geez it's time to do something for yourself. You do know this could kill you.

Called ID office.....they don't take my insurance! I could just spit, I am so mad that I have wasted all of this time on an office that doesn't even take my insurance. I assumed that they did because I asked my doc for the name of someone on my plan. So, back to square one.

I have a call into another specialist that "the wall" told me might take my insurance. I emailed Deb and told her that I was not too happy. I asked that she fax over my notes and labs to the new ID doc's office and CALL THEM to get me in ASAP.

This is just exhausting and on top of that, I have to be at work in 2 hours. :sad2: Maggie
Oh come on. More excuses. :(

Btw...YOU are 'the wall'. You are the one keeping yourself from treatment. Time to start taking some personal responsibility for this.

So go online or call your insurance company and get the name of someone on your plan. That should take about 2 minutes..

or better yet, go to the ER

Sad isn't it!!!!

::yes::

Please stop posting, stop emailing, stop making excuses - call your work and call in sick, call the kennel, pack the dogs, drop the dogs at the kennel and GET TO THE ER!!!!!!

Cancel the trip, pay the Dr. and for the meds or you will not ever see WDW again. Do you want to be pushing up daisies for your 40th?:confused3

Next excuse? I used to handle insurance issues for a doctors office, want me to call yours and get the ball rolling, enough is enough, you need to get this handled - NOW!

You know, I never even considered boarding the dogs until you brought it up. DUH! That would solve the problem, but it also creates another bill. I looked online at the hospital claim and I am going to have to pay out over $1500 to the hospital for my 3 night/4 day stay. :scared1: I am really glad that Disney is already paid for! Maggie

Since this seems to all be about money...

How much $$$ would you be willing to pay to get your leg back???

there you go, help on a silver platter. May be your last chance for help....your call

I'm guessing your partner isn't really good for you. She doesn't care if you go to the hospital, lose your leg, etc. The dogs are more important as is she. She'd rather you die of sepsis then board your dogs or have a sitter come over. I'd guess you have much bigger problems.
There are alot of things I hate the idea of but I don't think there are any I'd rather a person die then do or accept. And that person wouldn't even have to be my SO.

You are obviously not super concerned, or you would take action. So, it's pretty much ridiculous for anyone here to waste their time or energy pleading with you to do what any sane person would do or offering solutions you don't want to hear. You have an excuse for everything offered.

No Kidding! And doesn't anyone have a telephone?!! ID consults, even over the weekend, even on Christmas are DONE THAT DAY! This is getting a bit bizarre.

If you're that concerned about your leg then you would stop worrying about the money. Honestly, your main concern should be your leg. Plus, I thought you said Gabby had some great job & "the money was nice"..............

This is getting a bit bizarre.
I think it got bizarre quite a few pages back!

There are several things that make no sense to me;
1. All the emails, not enough phone calls.
2. Poor communication between the primary physician and the patient.
3. Referral to an ID out of the insurance plan. Usually office staff are well aware of that.
4. The delay in booking an appointment with an ID.
5. Failure of the pediatrician that she works for to be more proactive, allowing her to come to work, not intervening on her behalf with subspecialists, etc. Most physicians take really good care of their employees and make sure that they get care.
Not to mention the issues with dogs, cats, gabby, etc, etc.
To be honest, I am lost!:confused3

yep i've decided the whole thing is a big hoax. Nobody would be that dumb would they?

You would be surprised. A mom contacted DH the other day because her DS returned from a S. American country and had a lesion in his leg. Its a botfly larvae. You can see the little breathing hole and see it wiggling. :scared:
He told her that it is best to make a little incision so one can be sure of removing the whole thing; they are about an inch long and they are FAT!
No, he can't do that, he is going to "running camp" and the incision might bother him! I guess he can wait until it hatches! :rotfl2: http://ambergriscaye.com/pages/town/botfly.html

Cute, isn't it?

I can't imagine Maggie playing a hoax, and I bet right now she's regretting posting personal information on the forums. We don't know all the details of her situation, just what she's shared (and print is such an incomplete way of communication at best) and I think it's pretty unfair to start arbitrarily tossing around assumptions and accusations. Maybe she's not handling things the way some of you would, but there's no need to be mean.

Maggie, I hope you're working things out and feeling better really soon :grouphug:

I don't think anyone is being mean. I would describe it as frustration. There has been a concerted effort to offer suggestions, personal experiences, links to kennels, and they have been met with excuses. I think posters are frustrated and just wonder why someone wouldn't do more to help themselves, or why the people around them wouldn't rally to their aid.

Well said, Dawn. Someone else said (not here) about this thread, "I think we're going to end up watching this woman die in front of our eyes". A bit blunt, but I'm beginning to think that it might just be true. I find this whole situation very sad.

So, is it possible to post a picture of your leg? I am a wound care nurse, and am very interested in what the leg looks like. Maybe then, we would be able to assess the situation a little better.

Beth

That is a very nice offer Beth, but it will give the OP yet another reason why she can put off seeking appropriate and immediate care. She has had several "up close and personal" assessments by at least two physicians, she has been given great advice on this board and she knows what she has to do. For some reason that I find inexplicable, she is making another choice.

No, not being mean. Just frustrated as said. I nearly lost my dh to MRSA three years ago. It was very scary, in fact life changing. And he responded quickly to the meds, for the serious problems, but it still took over two months of iv and oral anti-biotic therapy for a full healing.
Our hospital was terrible and did not give him the proper treatment. I had to get very pro-active to get an ID person in there. And he aquired the infection in the er.
If he hadn't gotten help when he did he would have died. And it's possible that would have killed him was not the infection but the escalating bp and heart problems he developed while the infection was active.
