Persistant Infection in Leg

Please get to the ER and demand a culture. Any infection will take time to respond to any antibiotic and the culture needs time to grow...time is something that you don't seem to have much left of. If it is bad now, it is only going to get worse before it can get better. Antibiotics, de-breeding, etc all don't start to work right away they also take time. Even in the ER you may not get to see an ID Doc but you can get it taken care of by a regular ER Dr. I agree, call someone, a church if you belong, a local shelter, a neighbor, a friend, co-worker, a relative, get a high school student to come in or a college student, heck try meals on wheels to see if they will just feed the dogs. I am sure someone will help out for a day or two. You need to get this taken care of. If it is a soft tissue infection it will take time to heal if it is in the bone it is going to take longer. They can start treatment and then you can go home....as you know ER dont like to admit anyone anymore. I am not yelling, just trying to get you to go and get help. If it gets worse you are going to be laid up longer and your little dogs are going to miss you worse. Believe me I know, we have 3 cats, a dog and 3 kids not to mention a hubby. There is never anytime for me to be sick but sometimes you have to put yourself first. This is one of those times. Please go to ER today, just do it. Ask your employer for a referall if you need onr. If they (The ER) say it is nothing then you can relax and know that you did it. If they say it is serious..then thank God or whomever you believe in that you went!!!

Personally, I'm starting to wonder if it's as bad as she says it is.
I believe that Maggie is as bad as she has stated. I have a Dsis that is the exact same way. This doesn't make her a bad person or a liar, just someone that is not normally sick and used to putting herself last.

Maggie, keep us posted.:)

Also, I think it is often mis-diagnosed as celulitis, spider bites, just an infection (when it can be a staph or a antibiotic resistant one). I think you are mis-diagnosed and then you feel like, Well, I went and they said it is ok". I agree she needs to go but sometimes it is hard. Some people put everyone else first and don't see how serious it really is.

I am going to be blunt...get a grip and get yourself to the ER. I know you worry about your dogs but like others said throw down some food and water and deal with the rest later. If you are as bad as you say you are, you are going to lose that leg. Are the dogs not pooping and peeing in the house REALLY worth losing YOUR LEG over? :sad2: And I am sure you can get someone from work to check in on them. Quite making excuses. Unless things aren't as bad and you are looking for attention.

I can't stop thinking about this thread.

I am very worried about you, OP. I hope & pray that today will be the day you are seen by either the ID Dr. or if not, then you will get yourself to the ER. When someone who has already lost a leg is telling you "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME"...I know that would get my attention and make me realize that yes, I need to do something right now. Maybe the docs will think I am over-reacting but you know what...that never killed anyone. (or cost anyone their limb).

Check those dogs into the kennel this morning, just in case. If nothing else, then you don't have to worry about walking up & down and taking stairs (when you are supposed to be resting & propping). If they are in the kennel and you DO get in to see ID, then you can always go and get them tomorrow (or have your partner when she returns). And if you don't get into see the doctor there will be nothing to hold you back from seeking treatment in the ER today.

Best wishes to you for a speedy & full recovery. Please check in when you can.....

Call up Billy, enlist his services. I wouldn't even worry about his new boyfriend and get your *** to the ER. ENOUGH with all the excuses. Take care of YOURSELF.

sorry but I just think this is ridiculous. Your partner has trust issues so you can't go to the hospital. Your animals can't suffer but you can die. Who will Gabby get to take care of the pets if you die or end up in the hospital for a long time while they amputate your leg. Will you critters miss you if you are gone?
And if she's out earning the big bucks I would think you can afford $50. of them to pay your vet to keep the dogs til she gets home.
So she'll be home on Thurs. but will leave again on Sunday. What will happen if you wait til Thurs. to go to the hospital and then you are there for a long time. My dh was in the hospital for a week with his MRSA. Will you just have to sign yourself out mid-treatment cause she won't let somebody else watch the animals? No, either you are a complete fool or this is all a big game here.

You know, I never even considered boarding the dogs until you brought it up. DUH! That would solve the problem, but it also creates another bill. I looked online at the hospital claim and I am going to have to pay out over $1500 to the hospital for my 3 night/4 day stay. :scared1: I am really glad that Disney is already paid for! Maggie
Oh my word. I think I have officially heard everything. :sad2:

Gabby isn't comfortable with that. I have tried to talk her into it for our vacations for several years and she refuses. She has issues, but then again, don't we all?!?! Maggie

There a re a lot of things I'm not comfortable with but if I had to do them in order for my husband not to drop dead I'd get over myself.

Is gaby comfortable with you losing your leg or losing her partner?..

do you really intend on waiting for ID?

Do you realize your emails are getting you no where?
You really have a reason for EVERYTHING except why your life is not worth being alive for.

That's a shame that you have so little regard for your life and your limbs that you'd be willing to wait this out after several nurses (on here) and your own boss has told you how serious this is. ..I guess you really don't want to hear what I have to say anymore..I won't bother you again. But I do hope you decide on going through an ER TODAY and therefore get to see ID soon. I will be lurking from now on. I truly feel you don't want to hear what I have to say anymore. I am so sad and hope this turns out ok.

You are obviously not super concerned, or you would take action. So, it's pretty much ridiculous for anyone here to waste their time or energy pleading with you to do what any sane person would do or offering solutions you don't want to hear. You have an excuse for everything offered.

This is soooo not about money! You can always, ALWAYS set up payment plans with the hospital. It really is starting to look like you just don't think this is a big deal, even though you have been told time & time again that is has the potential to be life threatening.

I don't know what else to say.

(ETA...would you be ok with Gabby acting this way if your roles were reversed?)

No offense, but yesterday you were posting how you saved $400 on your birthday trip because of the new codes released this week. Use that money to board your dogs and get to the hospital. Frankly, it appears you can talk to your travel agent all day long, but can't be bothered to call the doctor.

Sorry to be harsh, but I just don't get it.
