Permanent French Manicures

I was thinking of trying this for the summer but the concept makes me nervous.
Anyone out there have any experience with permanent french manicures?

When I was getting my nails done regularly I always got a permanent french manicure. I loved them. I liked the fact that there were never any polish chips. They always looked neat. And when they were done I didn't have to sit at the salon for a while waiting for the polish to dry! And there was no polish to screw up and ding while trying to unlock my car on the way home! There was no more maintenance required than with a regular acrylic manicure. The only down side was that it was a bit more expensive than a regular acrylic manicure.

I've been getting mine done for almost 2 years. It's called a "Pink and White Gel" at my salon. I agree that I love that there is no drying time and that they don't chip.

I get pink and white acrylic gels done, not sure if that's what you're talking about. I love them. They look great for weeks, and like Maleficent said, no more oopsies on the way home.

Here in GA they are referred to as "pink & white" and I have had them for the last two years. I love it, the girl that does mine is fantastic, super clean, very meticulous. They do cost a bit more bot are worth it. As a final step she paints them with a clear sealant and I sit under a UV light for 5 minutes. They stay shiny and do not yellow at all. About every other fill in or so we soak them to soften, then she wipes the excess acrylic off so they don't get too thick. This last time I was in a hurry so we jsut cut down, filled in and usd polish. I'm already going nuts wanting the color off!

Just be sure to go to a reputable salon or spa, always make sure they use new files and everything is sanitized and be careful if they use dremels - they can cause serious damage to your nail bed if not used properly

i have had "pink and whites" for years-sometimes do glitter tips instead of the white acrylic-i.e at christmas i get red acrylic with glitter embedded in it where the white would be. The need filled less frequently than regular acrylics and as others have said-they dont chip or peel.

Here the pink and whites are a different powder than the solars. I had those for a while and absolutely hated the buffing with the dremel, it burned. THese have no buffing, just the sealant at the end, so much better.

This is true, I used to get gels done and they filed my nails too thin that when they put me under the uv light it actually hurt. I knew something was wrong and never went back and waited years before going back and getting regular nails on.

What you guys are all talking about is basically an acrylic or a gel artificial nail.

If there is a powder/liquid combo of any kind involved then you do not have a true 100% gel nail you have an acrylic nail. Some salons will do an acrylic/solar nail (pink & white) then put a thin layer of gel over the top and cure with a UV light and call it a "gel" nail. It is an acrylic nail with a nice top coat.

Gel is expensive compared to acrylic both for the salon to buy and to have applied. I pay $40 for a fill and I have them filled every 3 weeks. It is also common here to have gel on ones toes.

I have a 100% gel nail done - I have had them for 2 years. I love them, they do not lift, they never lose their shine, pen ink does not stain them, they are not brittle, the "polish" does not wear off and they do not yellow.
Gel comes in solid colors as well as the pink and white. I often have the tip dipped in a colored glitter instead of the white, that is also common in this area.

Gel nails are a thick liquid that comes in clear, pink, white and an assortment of colors. Each layer is cured under a UV light and sometimes there is a burning sensation. This burning sensation is a chemical reaction in the product similar to when one mixes epoxy it too gets warm. What I have found is that during certain times of the month my nail beds are very sensitive and it burns for a few seconds until the product cures. Other times I have no issues.

I just had a "pink & white" done last week. I like the clean look and I like that there's no polish to mess up. The full set was $40, and I think fills are $25 or $30 (probably depends on if they need to add more white or not). My only problem is that my natural nails grow so fast! Next time, I'm going to have to have them cut shorter, because I like them shorter to begin with, and with how fast my nails grow, they're going to be way too long when it's time to get a fill. None of the salons here work with coloured acrylics, though, which makes me sad, because I'd love to do something weird like a "blue & white" instead (I've seen it done, and it's a pale baby blue, and looks awesome).

Don't kow about the gel but I have had acrylics for around five years and have no nail bed damage and no lifting
