My mom wants perfume for Christmas and I'm looking for any suggestions? She doesn't have any fragrance in mind she trusts my judgement and always likes what I wear.

So I'm looking for any suggestions on a nice perfume which isn't too pricey. I would love to get her Alien by Thierry Mugler, but its too expensive :scared1:. I LOVE that one myself. I keep hinting to DH to get me that one for Xmas :rotfl:. I smelled Angel by Thierry Mugler and didn't care for that one, I like Alien better. Thought about Viva La Juicy or Burberry Brit sheer. Any other suggestions??

I find Alien very heavy...would your Mom like that kind of scent?
How about something softer? Poeme from Lancome, Sarah J Parker Lovely etc...

The Kenzo brand has some nice varieties if you wanted to check that out. I love the Lilly Pulitzer ones, too. They're very fresh, light type scents. It's something you'd connect to Florida or a summer getaway, a cruise, etc. At least I do!

The thing is, most perfumes react to an individual's body chemistry and just because it smells nice in the bottle doesn't mean that it will smell nice on you. I'd personally be very hesitant selecting a perfume for somebody without them having tried it previously. I would hate to spend money for an expensive perfume only to find out that it makes the person I bought it for smell like a skunk.

Sephora has some sample sets for $50 (two different sets, 10 samples in each), and one is $75 (7 samples), which you could try! They're very popular scents, too. The set includes some type of coupon that you take to the store once you've picked the scent you like best from the kit, and you can receive the actual size of that perfume. :thumbsup2

My mom hates buying perfume for herself, so I usually get it for her for birthdays and/or Christmas. Some of the one's she's liked so far:

J'Adore - Dior
Cashmere Mist - Donna Karan
Lovely - Sarah Jessica Parker
Light Blue - Dolce & Gabbana
Flowerbykenzo - Kenzo
Brit - Burberry
Badgley Mischka and Badgley Mischka Couture

My favorites are Badgley Mischka and J'Adore Dior, and her favorite is Flowerbykenzo. All of them smell really great, though. :thumbsup2

Wow we must have the same mom. I always buy my mom perfume for her birthday and Christmas as well.

I have bought her Cashmere Mist and Burberry Brit (original version) before. I forgot about J'Adore. That is a nice fragrance too.

A few times before I bought it for myself, I would ask a woman what she was wearing as it smelled so fantastic and, each time, she responded STELLA by Stella McCartney.

Now that I have it for myself, I'm the one who often gets stopped and asked what I'm wearing. :)

I've never heard of Stella. I will have to check that one out! Can I ask what does it smell like? For example- fruity scent, powdery or woodsy??

Maybe your mom would like Philosophy's "Pure Grace". It is a very clean scent - almost like soap and water. It's my favorite.

I wear j'adore and love it.

Good luck picking out a perfume for your Mom. It can be hard to find something for another person. :) Everyone's tastes are so different!

This is an awesome deal! I got it last year and ended up getting Stella with my coupon. You can buy the sample set online but the coupon has to be turned in at an actual store though so make sure that whoever you're giving it to has a Sephora near them. I'm getting this for my best friend for Christmas.

Can you buy the sampler set in the stores or only online?

I haven't read all the suggestions, but...... I love Pink Sugar (I think thats the name of it) it smells like cotton candy. My other favorite is Thierry Mugler Angel, but it is to expencive. So sad.

I bet she will love it! I want to get one for one of my cousins who I know will love it too. I can't believe you get all of those scents, plus a full size bottle, for $50 and tax!

It can be purchased in the store or also on the website. The coupon is only for the stores, though. And I think that excludes the JCPenney Sephora locations, so it's just the regular Sephora store.

I have to add Vera Wang- Princess.. it smells amazing!!

OP- I think the Sephora sampler is a GREAT idea!
