People's dress in public - Warning a rant

I don't notice what people wear too much........................unless its a college girl with her thong hanging out that says "You know you wanna f... me" :sad2:

I swear I can't tell you how many thongs with dirty sayings I saw while getting my undergrad. It seemed like girls would purposely lean over as far as they could so that the thong could be seen. I guess it was a frat boy lure :confused3

ok, i ignore this everytime it comes up and yes, i have seen some people wear pants to tight for their body. i do not deny that that problem exists.

but please also keep in mind that there are some of us with stomach flab that shows just because it is stomach flab! it doesn't mean our pants are too tight and sorry but you are going to see it to a certain extent in anything i wear b/c it is there!!!

i have lost a significant amount of weight, but i still have about 30 pounds to go and i have found that this last 30 pounds is the hardest. unfortunately it seems to be manifesting itself mostly in my stomach.

sorry if people think my tummy is gross - i do too! BUT there is nothing i can do about it. you are going to see it through my clothes until i can lose it!

Oh, but the problem isn't seeing it through clothes, it is in seeing it because the clothes are too tight and small and not covering the skin. Have you not see the muffin top that seems to be popular right now? Low riders, short tight shirts with skin exposed and the pants are so tight that the stomach and waist areas are "muffin topping" over the sides. I'm sorry but that is not an attractive look.
I am overweight, I know I am heavy. I wear clothes that cover my stomach, even though you can see the jiggly belly beneath the clothes, it is kept covered and the clothes are NOT skin tight, they fit the correct way.

I agree! I'm certainly not one to talk about anyone's imperfect body, but at least make sure it's covered. I hate my arm fat, and I've been on a quest to find the perfect-length tee shirt that's long enough not to ride up when I raise my arms, and that covers my upper arms adequately. At my size (ugh, a 22), I've found plenty of tops that will show lots and lots of skin, but I've got enough sense to know that nobody wants to see that! :teeth:

Going with the cover your flab theory...

does that mean someone with imperfect teeth should never smile?

how about thinning hair..should they wear hats?

how about people with some wrinkles...should they wear veils to cover their faces??

thats all I am saying...

just don't look if you don't like it...

not everyone is a sz 6 and even those of us who are have flab...somewhere.

but that doesn't mean I won't don my swim suit at typhoon lagoon, nore do I need a granny skirt
I actually read on MSN the other day that less bathing suit makes you look thinner!!

I wish I could link it but I have to go teach...at a high school... :lmao:

I think there is a huge difference between having a roll of blubber hanging out over your super low-rise jeans and under your cute "baby" T-shirt in comparison to balding and crooked teeth. If you can pinch 6 inches, you probably should not be wearing this style...

I agree. I see teenage girls with this look all the time and I just want to cringe. I think a big problem for them is that junior clothes are cut so small these days.... they just don't fit girls who are a little bit more developed and/or carrying a bit of extra weight around. But girls squeeze themselves into them because adult styles aren't trendy enough.

Why not? If they feel comfortable wearing that cute "baby" t-shirt even with their "blubber" hanging out, who are you to pass judgement on them? :sad2:

No one is passing judgement. It just looks bad. As much as THEY have a right to feel good about themselves, I also have a right to be repulsed by their choice of clothing, cringe about it, and come to a message board and vent. No, I would never say anything to anyone about it in person.

How about the woman that walked into the restaurant I was at last night with very thin white pants and a see through thong :confused3 . Did she not look in the mirror and figure out that everyone is going to KNOW she isn't a natural blonde??????

:lmao: oh my gosh golfgal :rotfl2: :lmao:

Its not always a little muffin top, sometimes its the whole bread basket. I don't understand how someone could feel comfortable dressed that way.

I don't get it either. I think it was on this board that someone posted about an extreme muffin top where the girl had to lift her rolls of fat that were peeking out from under her t-shirt to get something out of her pocket :crazy2:

Its fun to be naked...

and free.

of flab...

but there are few of us who are so... at least they feel comfy enough with themselves to dress how they want

I find that usually it is those who are not comfy with their own appearance who notice others appearances first

ITA :thumbsup2

I do also feel bad for the young women who feel they have to sell themselves out (by looking overtly sexual) to look attractive--and feel worthwhile, but I don't think this is evidence of a moral fall-out on the part of the young woman, I think it's a problem that is far more widespread...just look at all the female role models and what the messages are for young women while they are growing up (sexy is powerful, sexy is commodity, you are worth more if you look good, etc). I think there are deeper problems than any one person's choice of clothes on a given day....there is a bigger picture at stake.

You should have told her her roots wore showing.

I don't care how great I may think I look on a given day. If the receptionist at my insurance company is going to have her nipples hanging out, chances are I'm going to notice.
Dressing like that is ok if your going out to the hootchie-mama bars, not in a professional environment.

I agree. I have so muc trouble shopping because of this. I like to be fairly trendy and look my age. I don't want to go around looking like I'm an old lady. But, clothes are not made for people like me.

There is a huge problem with how girls and women are shown. They "have" to look like streetwalkers to "get" a guy. And I so don't agree with this. Unfortunately, most guys seem to like the look. :(

Showing actual nipple skin is considered indecent exposure. It's one thing to see the tops of the chest, but another to see more. And it definitely does not belong in a work environment unless you work at a topless bar.

But, I do believe that a woman can dress "sexy" without showing too much off.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the pj pants as pants trend...If your an adult and can't get dressed don't go out! :confused3

What if you don’t get out of the car? Since it’s my day off I had no reason to get up this morning and get all dolled up for the office. So when I was dropping off my kids at school I had on my crocks, PJ pants and sweatshirt, it may bother some folks but to me that’s fine, we live in country, where no one can see our driveway and no one at school saw my pants.

This is perfectly okay. But you never know what might happen. The one day I took my son to school in my work-out clothes, we ended up being late and I had to walk him into the office looky mighty yucky!
