So I've been on since 2006, too (even though my stats say 2007
) I've used it to learn about Disney before our first trip, because I didn't know if my kids would like it. Back then, there were detractors, but overall it was a helpful site.
In 2007, the big distraction was when they announced that the DDP wouldn't include the tip or the appetizer. Oh my!

People hit the ROOF!!! There was panic in the streets and people vowed never to go to WDW again!
Then, I believe it was 2010 when Harry Potter opened at US/IOA. Oh, all this board could talk about was how Disney doesn't innovate anymore and how it's getting old! They were talking about how US/IOA was killing WDW and that they wouldn't come back to WDW until they innovate.
Now, the anger-du-jour is FP+. People are vowing to leave WDW again. Tomorrow, it will be something else
Here's the big thing that people need to know: People leave and vow not to go to WDW all the time. It's a vacation destination and people come and go. It's the same at other theme parks and vacation destinations. But as long as people have kids, people will go to Disney World. The reason why is because the kids want to see their princesses. They want to take a picture with their characters. They want to experience the experience and take a picture in front of the castle.
I talked to this one guy who told me that he went to WDW on NEw Years Day. He told me that it was insane and that he only rode about 4 rides total! He said that the crowds were so big that they may have closed the park's admittance. He said it was a big hassle. But he said his daughter had a great time and will go again!
Oh, and the last thing: WDW isn't the only vacation destination in the world. Sometimes, you complain because you simply go too much! Take a break! They have great deals on cruises nowadays! They have these all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean that are really nice! In other words, mix it up! And when or if you go back to WDW, you will have a different perspective.
