for everyone that has asked what my question is....

We don't ever use FP. I don't know why but we just never fool with it. I think I have used it maybe 3 times ever. The thought of having to schedule a ride time with FP+ just rubs me the wrong way. I keep reading about everyone so upset over FP+ and I'm curious, If I never used FP before, is the change really going to effect me? Are the standby lines longer? Are things more chaotic? I'm just trying to figure out if I need to plan to use the FP+ or not. If things are so screwy that I need to use it just to make sure I get to ride something, I will. But if it isn't going to effect me then I'm just going to ignore all the hype and plan for other things. Does this make sense to anyone? :confused3

Ask your question. Do NOT be afraid! What's the worst that can happen? Several miserable people get their panties in a bunch and gain a perverted sense of satisfaction by belittling your inquiry. Miserable people, but anonymous and harmless. All bark, no bite. There are still plenty of normal folks here who can converse nicely.

Well said! Don't let the nastiness of a few hateful people deter you. Ask your questions and ignore the venom of the *expletives*. Someone will answer. There are still many kind hearted people around.

I think it depends on the time of year you go and crowd levels. We don't use FP much because we go in September and crowd levels are low. However, rides like soarin, Toy story, and the seven dwarf roller coaster are going to be long waits at any time and in my opinion scheduling a time is going to be wonderful! I would take advantage of FP+ if you can but otherwise I don't think it's going to affect you much if it hasn't been your practice in the past. We are going In September of this year and it will be our first experience so I am only going on conjecture, not first hand experience yet!

Thank you. We always go in September or October when crowds are lower. I can see the benefit during the more crowded months, for sure. I probably should have prefaced that we go in the fall.

This board has absolutely not changed a bit. Things ebb and flow around here as hot topics crop up and eventually die. There is more to the DIS than the Theme Park boards. Go on...check out some other boards here. Lots of great info and people. There are great people and info here on the theme park boards as well.

Lecturing doesn't help (and it's quite likely this thread will either go poof or be moved as it isn't germane to the board subject of theme park attractions and strategies). I suggest Ignoring those you don't care for or agree with will. They are after all just strangers and shouldn't be allowed have any impact on you.

I think whether you want to use FP+ or not depends on what time of year you'll be visiting. You won't be forced to use it, of course. :)

They are tinkering with the ratios of how much standby they take vs FP+ and that ratio seems to have increased, causing longer standby lines.

If you would like the guarantee of knowing you have 3 rides fastpassed, go ahead and schedule them.

I think that the answer to your question is that you will be affected less than most people, but many rides that didn't have Fastpass before now do and the standby times for those rides may be longer. Even this seems to be hotly debated, though.

You started a thread for this question???!!!! There's a sticky that answers this. :rotfl:

I say schedule your FP+ (might as well take your 3 FP's) but tour as you normally would. If you miss a FP time? Oh well. Just keep doing what you are doing. Vacation as you like to vacation. No need to let the scheduled FP's dictate your vacation to you. Use them when it is convenient for you.

I would choose some to be on the safe side. You don't have to use them. (Yes I suggested this to someone else and got flamed for it. Not on this thread though)

If you tend to go to the parks at rope drop, you shouldn't have a problem riding anything. On the days we do make rope drop, we go ride what we want with no wait, and the things we want to ride twice we get a fastpass for the afternoon when the lines tend to be longer.

I totally agree! People are downright nasty. If you don't like people asking the same question, why don't they just ignore it?? Why spend your time writing a nasty response to the person?? You didn't help and you made a person feel very horrible for asking a simple question. Not everyone is computer savvy or even chat board savvy. It is a shame. I now know why people told me "Disboards are ridiculous. You can't even ask a simple question."

I have not ONE real friend that uses these boards because of the meanness. It is sad...super sad. I just ignore the nastiness but it is a shame it happens!

While you aren't required to use it, my advice would be to schedule them in case you want to use them and then if it turns out not to fit into your day, just cancel them and no harm done. Think of them as an insurance policy on 3 rides rather than planning around them. From what you describe as your usual touring strategy, I doubt you'll notice much of a difference.

Also, you might want to use them for preferred seating at wishes, illuminations, an electric parade if you aren't used to using them on rides. Might enhance your experience you are used to.

That's absolutely true...crises pop up on these boards and eventually run their course. I remember not so long ago when the monorail cutbacks were the fury. Fp+ has probably been the most hotly contested topic in years yet it will pass too ...and then we can all like normal human beings.... debate good ole line jumping again :yay:

My only thought on a possible change you might see are some slightly longer lines at the attractions that previously did not have FP. But since you did not use FP before then you shouldn't see too much change - at least that's how it appears today but it is still new and difficult to say for certain if crowd flows will change more.

Agreed....for the most part. The Theme Parks board though does seem to have the most vitriol of any section of the Dis.

Part of the problem too, I think, with people getting frustrated over some redundant questions is that the search function does not work very well. Many times I've tried to search for particular threads that I remember had some info I wanted to recall and have had trouble locating those threads.

Riiiiiight. It's interesting anyone think it funny to misinform any poster with a reasonable question. A link to the purported sticky would be beneficial, assuming you're not referrring to the excellent but moving FP+ thread by mesaboy.

I'm pretty sure that first part was sarcasm.....based on the "roftl" followed by the helpful part.

Is the change going to affect you? No one really knows yet. And that's a big reason for all the madness lately. Uncertainty is a terrible thing. Once everyone gets a little more clarity on the whole FP+ thing and its effects - whatever they will be - things will hopefully settle down here.
