People walking 3 or 4 abreast towards you!!!!!!!!!! What do you do???????

This is a real problem for me to. I use an ECV when I am thereI have had to just stop and let them keep on coming. I can't exactly jump the curb. Usually they will notice but I have been run into a few times. I say hold your ground. it's a two way street. Not just their way.

We have four people and we walk 2X2 on the far right side. If they are coming towards us we just plow through them. It really chaps my butt when they are just standing there blocking traffic.

I And you forgot un-yielding groups that also walk on the left side of walkways. ( Grrrrrrr )
What if they are from England?

Here's one. It's raining and I want to walk close to the building under the awning. Often I will stop and stand against the building, or if it is a store, stop and stand against the building looking in the window.

In an earlier lifetime (high school) I did plow through people in the hall going in the same direction every so often but I really regret it now. A better thing to do would be to eavesdrop on their conversation.

Many times, especially when the park is crowded, it is not easy to "just go around them". My method is coming to a standstill and holding my ground. I get practice in the park where I walk...you are supposed to walk/run on the LEFT side of the path (It is really still a road, but you need permits to drive on it in the park, so they want you walking TOWARDS oncoming traffic. Bicycles are supposed to ride on the right.) The signs all say this, they even painted footprints on the path showing which direction you are supposed to go! You'd be surprised how many people ignore the signs. I don't like being rude, either, but sometimes you risk more by trying to sidestep.

My husband - 6' 4" - stops dead in his tracks or plows through them. I - 5' 2" - usually do my best to go around them. I find it extremely rude and annoying, but I would rather go around than get plowed over. :thumbsup2

This sounds like my husband and I; although he usually can't refrain from uttering a few choice comments in the direction of the offending party.

I tend to plow through in an effort to maybe "Clue" them in that they are hogging the path - but I doubt that works. -Wish I had a cow catcher though - that'd be awesome!!!

I hate the group of people who stop dead in their tracks in the middle of the path to figure out where they are going more than the lane hoggers, though

Bob and weave or duck and shuffle!!! But thats only when I am trying to move through a crowd.

If I'm stopped and people are going to plow into me, I just let them...try. I look at it like a challenge. Getting a low center of gravity and stable footing makes me more solid on my feet than some yahoo who isn't looking where their going.

I'm only 6' 2" and weigh about 230, so I do the same as your husband. I walk on the right side and hold my ground. I haven't moved for the Brazilian tour groups either.

In the past, sometimes I'd move, sometimes I'd play the "I'm not moving game" and just stand my ground and keep walking.

But that was in the past...from now on, I am definately going to heed the advice of the poster that suggested playing Red Rover and telling them they are out...or the Jedi Mickey.:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Interesting thread....This is a pet peeve of mine too. The main reason it irks me is too often they look at you afterwards like you did something wrong
!
My method varies. If it's just me I may stand my ground. If I'm trying to move quickly, I may go around (it's faster). If I'm pushing a stroller, I have no choice. I don't want one of them falling on the child. Esp, if they are considerably larger.

Depends on my mood.

Sometimes I'll plow through and give them a shoulder bump.
Other times I'll walk around.

I guess it would depend on where. Three or four across at the World Showcase is not a big deal, the walkways are huge! Plenty of room for everyone to pass without running into each other. But in tighter areas, I usually just freeze in my spot and let them go around me.

We were in a group of 7 last week at Disneyland and one of us (my Dad) was on an ECV. We made a point not to walk more than 2 across and sometimes we had to go single file to get through oncoming traffic. I tried to make sure someone always had one of my kids' hands so they wouldn't get lost.

The best strategy to help my Dad ride through the crowd was for my husband and me to walk directly in front of him to create a path. Otherwise, these huge groups of people would come directly at him and he wouldn't even be able to budge.

We always made sure every adult knew where we were going so if we got separated we would meet at the desintation.

Most importantly, we tried not to be one of those clueless mobs that stops in the middle of the walkway. If we stopped to look at the map or discuss our next move, we would say, "Pull over!" and all of us moved to the side of the path or into a corner somewhere. I certainly didn't want to be one of "those groups!" (and we weren't!;) )

I stop dead in my tracks and put my arms over my face/head (sort of like a standing air raid position) -- I get some strange looks, but generally don't get run into!

I don't move. I'll just stop and stare at the sky. I'll force them into a decision ;)

Thats what I do too. I just have my petite wife stand behind me. I am rather large and rotund.

I am with the ELBOW group. I am not tall (5'4") but I have very boney elbows. I am good at judging the best angle to put it at to get maximum "Umph" from the oncoming jerk. I am a little older so the insincere "sorry" seems to be accepted. I have been using the elbow trick for many years now and have perfected it!

Umbrellas are the best weapon cause it doesn't matter if they get broken but I never carry one at WDW - but that works on crowded sidewalks. :thumbsup2

For those of you that have read some of my posts, this is going to come as a surprise to you. I don't even give it a thought. It is just as easy for me to be courteous and step out of the way then to expect them to do so.

In the end, I was the good guy and they were not. I move along feeling good about myself and couldn't care less what they are feeling, but I hope it is guilt.

:woohoo: :rolleyes1
