Hello everyone!

A while back, I saw a thread on the People to People Student Ambassador program. Since the search isn't working, I was wondering if anyone had possible, maybe, hopefully bookmarked it or know where I can find it? Please? I have a niece who got a letter for the Sports Ambassadors but she really wants to do the student program, so I wanted to do some reading about it. Thanks in advance! :wave2:

Thank you, I have a feelling she would loooove to do this! The only concern I have a feeling all of the family will have is the price, I know it's going to be high! :(

It was very expensive, but it is all inclusive, which makes the cost a little easier to handle. The only money I needed for the trip was for souvenirs.

There is an opportunity to raise money for the trip. They provide you with the handouts that you can bring to local businesses to sponsor a portion of it. I didn't do it, but there were people from our trip that did.

Happy researching! I wish her the best of luck as she goes through the process (interviews and applications) - and hopefully the trip!

My son is going to Australia / New Zealand next summer with People to People. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

My daughter got the letter the other day for the Sports Ambassador program. Does anyone know how these kids are selected? I'm just curious.

Thats what my niece got the letter for also, thier Tennis Sports Ambassadors. I know she subscribes to Tennis Magazine, so maybe they sent in her name, but I doubt it.

Local coaches maybe?

She has played for AYSO Soccer for the last 8 years. Maybe they submitted her name.

For the student ambassadors, I never found out who recommended me initially, but I believe it was usually teachers. I always wanted to know which teacher had nominated me, as I really wanted to thank him/her.

For sports ambassadors, the coaches would make sense, based on what I heard about the student program.

When I filled out the first little form that I got about the program, I was then invited to a big informational meeting, which was held in a large auditorium. There they explained the program in better detail and gave us all applications. The application was not all that different from a college app, including an essay and I think three letters of recommendation from people who knew you from different areas (school, church, jobs, volunteer activities, sports).

Those applicants that were accepted at that point were invited to go for an interview with some of the people from the program and the chaperones that were going on the trip (if I remember correctly.... it's been a long time!). The interviews were the final process to be accepted to go on the trip.

If you want any specifics on PTP, send me a PM. My DD went on a trip to California with them in 2001.
