People Just Don't Get It!

I just post the pictures of our vacation on facebook no more comments just questions about how they can get DVC!:cool1:

I'm just looking forward to the day the kids leave the nest and DW and I can do Disney on our own. :cool1:

Why wait? We leave our kids at home every once in a blue moon. Thank goodness for grandparents!

DH and I go to Disney without the kids quite a bit. Usually for every vacation we take them there, we go back just the 2 of us. I always have people give me funny looks and ask why we would go without the kids. My answer is: I go to have fun! They are there once a year with us and it is great but it is A LOT of work with 2 little ones. When it's just DH and me- it's relaxing! I love my grown up Disney Trips!

OH and nope I do not feel badly or guilty about leaving them home! (I get that question too!!!) they go every year!!

I have been taunted by my best friend for years. How can you keep going back to Disney? :confused3
This year, she is a new Grandmother and asked me to plan a trip for us to take her grandson. My reply was "Who are we bringing to stay with the baby?":rotfl:

:thumbsup2Am so with you there. DH and I have taken two trips by ourselves and they have been great. We are contemplating upgrading our MYP to PAP for our November trip so we have an excuse to go back by ourselves. Don't get me wrong - we love going with our boys- but our two vacations by ourselves have been fabulous and relaxing! I've given up trying to explain it to people. My best friend's family are big boaters. They tease us about Disney. We've been on their boat and had fun, but it is not something I would want regularly to each their own.:)

I've been going home to OKW since '92. Coworkers would ask me why I would go back every year. I'd ask why would someone go back to a rented cottage in the same town every year. I'm single without children and enjoy WDW that way. Now I have 2 great nieces who are 2 1/2 and can enjoy their excitement. This Oct will be their 2nd trip-castles, fireworks, Mickey,Rapunzel and where's Flynn is all we talk about now!party:

We arent professionals lol, but we are childless adults (by choice) and LOVE WDW.. We bought DVC to be able to enjoy WDW as a couple, but also, every couple of years, if we choose to, bring a number of extended family and treat them to the nicer accommodations that DVC allows us on property. So far they have loved it. They always stayed in just a value before. All we ask them to do is buy our park tickets. When they walk into the DVC villas you just see their faces light up. Then when they realize that's just the 'kitchen / living room' and see there are other rooms attached, they about faint lol.. :lmao:

But I digress.. Some people just dont get it and never will. They either are too closeminded to try it, or wont let themselves enjoy it..

We've been DVC members since 2004 and have had wonderful multiple vacations yearly, we have older children that are out of the house. We sometime travel with them jobs permitting and sometimes it's just the two of us. The last few years we have gotten so much grief for DCL trips or WDW trips that I know longer tell anyone that I work with where I'm going. I don't know why people have to be so judgmental about things that don't concern them.

I feel the same way about Disney. I would go to Disney every month if I could. People ask me why I don't visit other places in Florida or rent a car. My answer is I like Disney picking me up at the airport and taking me to my compound. Disney is and will always be my happy place. I cannot wait to share everything that Disney is to me with my daughter

We hear it from people too. We are also a childless couple (not by choice.)

Its not like we spend our entire trip riding kiddie rides in fantasyland...but we do go there in our attempt to see and do everything.

What's wrong with wanting to vacation in a clean, friendly environment that is fun for people of all ages?

we tell them that we are going to Mount Wannahockaloogie, for the induction of the newest member shark bait ooh ha ha. :worship: nobody says a word to us.

OK... I really LAUGHED OUT LOUD on this one! Too funny:rotfl2:

They just don't get it.... no point in trying to explain ourselves!!!

I do have a new coworker who LOVES disney world!! He just moved up here from Fl. Now I have someone to talk WDW with at work! yayyyy!!

Everyone else looks at us like we are nuts!!! :rotfl2:

I agree! This is just how we look at it-our place just like others go to a cottage. People just don't get it.

I've been a dvc memeber since it's start. And now my kids are 20, 21. We live in Baltimore, Maryland. My wife and I love cruising and jumping a flight to Disney World even for two nights at a resort just to relax and enjoy the dining. We love what Disney has to offer, even without kids.

Hello neighbor! Westminster, Maryland shout'in out! :wave2:

Last night at bowling one of my teammates asked me if I had any T-shirts that were not Disney. I said some but I would be getting some new ones next month when we go back for a week. They just don't get it at all.

hahahahah:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Okay, wiping the tears from my eyes, too funny!

I love Disney, it's an integral part of some of the best family memories I have (back when I was a kids with my parents). My son, however, the product of early DVC ownership, likes Disney but does not share my love of all that is Disney!

So, I'm fully prepared for the adult only DVC/Disney week-end/vacations with friends! I even look forward to it!
