PeepsII-The Hot, Sweaty Asian Strikes Back. Feb 2010. 12/2-Part 2 has begun.

Been MIA lately and had alot to catch up on!

You have been busy! Take it easy!

I'm thinking he is going to back out on the trip. :sad2:

You know you could meet someone on the DIS!! :thumbsup2 I was reading a TR the other day and she took some quiz that said her ideal mate would be an ASIAN!!! :lmao: I asked her if she had met you! :rotfl2: Anyhoo-it was Glendamax. Just thought I would through that out there! :rolleyes1

Sadly Jordan-I'd have to go with option #2- the guys are already acting funny and you haven't had to collect the $$$...you could definately push the envelope-book and ask for the money and see what happens...then you'd know for certain....:confused3

Hmm...you may be onto something. I may keep them in the loop even if they drop out. The 2nd guy was REALLY interested so I don't know if he would be deterred. He already said he was saving money. We'll see though.

.
especially when they get there tax return next year, might just go ohhhh, hey i got a few thousand, i think i will go on that trip again.

Jordan !! It was a female that I asked to share the room !!:rotfl2:But ya know a 62 year old Grandma who is unattached maybe should be looking for a senior disser !!!!:lmao::lmao:

I will let friends know I am going when I decide on a date and if anyone wants to they can tag along !!!:thumbsup2

Wendy I think yout DDPplan sounds good !!:)

I didn't know you were on the prowl...;)

Yea gotta love the people who wanna go with you until you mention money and then it's not an option. I know a little about the people dropping out of trips. LOL.

You and me both.....

I haven't seen the Hangover yet, but everyone says it's so good, and funny.

It reminds me of my youth...so you know how crazy I was....:rolleyes1

LMAO on going to McD's twice since reading about meeting spouses there! Thanks for the Pre-trip plug too :)

Sadly, I have to vote for #2 also :(

I gotta increase my chances of meeting "the ONE"..;)

Jordy....

Terry and I met at a car wash... Maybe you should swing by one of those after McDonald's.... Couldn't hurt, right?? :confused3

I think we've been on the same wavelength recently...I am getting my car washed today.....

This is why we are going with the QSDP. With little ones, sitting through all those meals is exhausting and not as enjoyable.

I do like Wendy's thoughts of going with the regular DDP to take advantage of Signature dining since they have built-in babysitters on the trip. I'm taking notes on that for December...:thumbsup2

It will be good to hear your feedback. I actually like babysitting the kids. They're so funny.

I think this is the best idea. Once they have forked over money, they will commit more to it. Plus, explain to them your dilemma. Tell them you need commitments to help you be able to figure this stuff out - and maybe give them a "no turning back" deadline?

-The Boot Lady.
(:lmao:)

I'll probably ask for cash sometime mid to late August

I cried watching up too, then when we came home I immediately started making tickers from clipart from the movie so I could have one :lmao:.

I vote #2 as well.

When ever you get time again, I posted pics of my binder on my PTR :thumbsup2.

I haven't disliked a Pixar flick yet, but UP definitely ranks among my favorites.

I love your BINDER...where's Blueyed Girl, Cherie, to drool over it too....;)

I've read a few of her reports..I know she has another one going right now...hmmmm...maybe I'll have to pop in....I think we've been on each other's TRs before.....

I think I'm gonna send an email right now.....

I'll throw that one out at them...

Does she work at McDonald's with a part time job at a car wash?

Sorry, but I'm going to have to go with Option 2 as well :sad2: Oh well, I'm sure that you all will have a fabulous time, no matter who ends up going!

I'm gonna agree with #2...sorry

You should have joined me at UP. I bawled at the beginning, I bawled at the end, I teared up at least once if not more in the middle (and probably had tears of laughter going too!) My boys think I'm nuts but being a woman, it's maybe easier for me to get away with it (which is good because I am a major weaper!)

I always have a good time even if I'm by myself.

I'm a weeper too. So is my dad.

Chapter 17. PTR stuff and some more China.

I listen.
I took the advice of many and wrote my friends an email..wait. Let me cut and paste...just a sec. Here's the email I wrote:

Gene and Jeff,

I thought I'd just give you an update on WDW. Right now it looks like for 3 of us at Pop Century, it'll run 1075. That includes room, tickets to everything (waterpark, arcades, parks), and meals. The only thing not included in that price is airfare and discretionary spending money (for drinks and souvies).

It's July and there are 6 more months until Feb. You can save about 350/month and be set. I will probably make a reservation at the end of August, beginning of September. They only require about 250 total to put a deposit down and then full payment is due 45 days before the trip. If you want to make monthly payments to the reservation I can set that up with the Travel Agent.

I know Jeff mentioned not having a ton of money right now. If you can't make it this year, I completely understand. It won't keep me from going and it won't piss me off. I'd just like to start moving ahead so I know how much I need to budget. If one or both of you don't go, then I need to put aside a bit more money and I would need to start doing that starting this month. So if could let me know that would be great.

Jordo

I haven't heard from either of them yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.

Pricing airfare
We were so spoiled for many years with ultra low prices. I think I've mentioned this before, but Wendy has her plane ticket from our 1st trip in 1991 and it was 350.00 back then. I'll be okay paying 350 for a flight, but hoping I might be able to score one around 275-300. I've just started looking, but it looks like 325-350 is the going rate...I can buy a ticket now for my trip but it's at 450.00 right now...

If I were to change my outbound flight date from Friday or Saturday to Wednesday, my fare would drop anywhere from 75-100 dollars which leads me to.....

Should I add days
Using the FDM, by changing the outbound flight to Wed., I save 100 dollars. Adding 2 nights on the front end would add about cost about 180 dollars. Adding 2 days would only cost me 80 dollars more. It would be like getting a night for free. Of course that doesn't include meals, but that kind of expense is not taken into acct withFDM;)

If you recall my last PTR in 2007, I had the exact same dilemma. I did end up adding 2 days on the front end of my trip in 08.

We'll see how that pans out. I'm a bit less inclined to do it this time because IF I end up at Pop on my own then I will have plenty of down time in the evenings.

More China

So these pictures were taken the same day we were at the Temple of Heaven...it was a looong day, but we saw alot of stuff. After seeing the Temple of Heaven aka Epcot's China Pavilion, we took the bus to Tiananmen Square.

Here's Tiananmen Square. I wanted to take a funny picture of me laying down in the middle of the square in mock defiance of Communism. My friend highly suggested I don't attempt it. She said I would've been escorted out of the country...really.

Inside the gates of the Forbidden City, but still not all the way in. We ended up not going all the way in. It was late in the day and they were about to close up tours.

Here I am listening to a tour guide...I understood her perfectly:rolleyes1

We walked over to Wa Fu Ching-a upscale shopping area. It also has Snack Street. You may see this street on shows like Bizzare Eats or whatever it's called. I think I've also seen Samantha Brown here eating a starfish.

We found another snack street:

I would've eaten one of the scorpions except they were still moving:

We left and went to a mall closer to where we were staying....and lo and behold look what I found:

I do remember your SSR story. Have you also done Mandara? Did you do SSR or Mandara for one of your marathon trips?

I actually did both in one day! :snooty: How spoiled was I??

Mandara was only for a spa pedicure, however, I thought the atmosphere of the lounge was so peaceful, serene, and Zen-like. I would definitely try a massage there someday.

SSR was for the dreaded foot reflexology. I thought the atmosphere was more akin to a health club. Nice, functional, and clean, but not "an escape." (A guy may be more comfortable here, however.) Ed had a "Sports Massage" after running the half-marathon and he liked it.

My favorite spa was the Grand Floridian. Ed and I had a couple's massage there and it was excellent. I loved the elegant atmosphere and that ruby red grapefruit body wash is amazing! :goodvibes

I hope things work out with your friends or they at least tell you really soon what is going on, the waiting would drive me crazy!!

make me :rotfl: then made me :sad1:. We take so much for granted in this country don't we?

Thanks for the China pictures, I really enjoy them.

I am glad you liked the binder :thumbsup2, I am so far from being done with it :rotfl2:.

I think where I go will depend on when I decide I'm gonna schedule it. If I do it when Wendy and gang are still at BLT, then I'll probably opt for Grand Floridian. If I go during my stay at BWV, then I'll probably go with Mandara Spa.........

I love deep tissue massages....I could get massages everyday.

Thanks so much for the insight and feedback!:grouphug:

I did the same thing. I thought it was funny and at the same time, so sad.

I can't wait to see more of the binder! I love binders, but you know that already.

Oh, I do hope they don't keep you hanging. You were very clear in the e-mail that you would not be upset if they had to cancel, so hopefully they will let you know one way or the other very soon.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! (And for them!)
