PeepsII-The Hot, Sweaty Asian Strikes Back. Feb 2010. 12/2-Part 2 has begun.

I love your pictures, Jordan. What a dichodomy between all of the new, fancy Olympic buildings and the dorms with the straw mattresses. What is that thing with the tail?:scared1:

Your nieces and nephew are darling, even flat.:cutie:

It was crazy to be in Guiyang and the Beijing. There were certain similarities for sure, but it was a much different experience.

The picture of the animal.......I'm just gonna say it's a household pet usually....

My tribute to Michael Phelps:
China2009210.jpg

Now how would you know anything about that :confused3?

Back to the Gymnastics Venue. Me sticking my dismount:
China2009215.jpg

Amazing routine, you stuck the landing, I give it a perfect 10!!

Jordan, I really enjoy reading about your trips. You always seem to have a great time and show us things we wouldn't normally see or think about. Thank you for sharing.

You're quite welcome Tracy. :grouphug:

The Michael Phelps thing.....let's just say I inhaled....

I love all the Beijing pics!

What, dare I ask, is that in the tray on the table???

How were the pineapple and sweet taro pies?

I love seeing all these China pics! Thanks for sharing them.

This one was cooked. I also saw uncooked ones and almost hurled. It's man's best friend.......

the pies from McD's were delicious.

Your tribute to Michael Phelps made me choke on my Dr. Pepper! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

We wanted to go inside the Water Cube and take pictures of us with bags of Doritos (you know, the munchies....:rolleyes1), but it was 20 dollars US and they were sold out of tix.

China2009151.jpg

I see London, I see France, I see Jordans underpants! :lmao:

thanks for the undie pics.
:sad2:

Yes, those aren't even my most colorful ones.....:rolleyes1;):thumbsup2

Awesome pix Jordan !! The difference in the 2 cities is amazing !! You were so lucky to see the real China !!
We don't truly appreiciate what we have to stark reality of another World smacks us in the face !!
You undies shot was inspiring:lmao:
Keep it coming !!We don't need another "Winkers "Report:laughing: Just kidding Cherie:hug:

China was amazing and I would go back to either city in a second.

I do have to step back and remember how much we have here in the States.

Do the waterchesnuts taste like the ones from a can?

I didn't try any of them...remember, street vendor food=the trots.

Winkers said:
Is that a dead cat???!!!????:scared:

You're close.

I am enjoying seeing your China pictures again, especially the little stories and background behind them.

Thanks Lessa!

And to think there isn't a single one of these in South Carolina....:sad2: Yet there it is in China.

Great pictures! Thank you for sharing. Well, the dead thing, not so much. But the rest were great.

Beijing is VERY Westernized in many ways. You'll see that in coming pix.

Honestly, the birdsnest and the water cube are two of the coolest buildings EVER! They sure know how to make Olympic venues! :thumbsup2 Our Olympic venues look sooooo boring compared to Beijing's! :sad2:

Nice poses, dude. I give you a 10 for sticking the landing! What does a taro pie taste like? :confused3

I didn't eat the taro pie, so I just had to believe my friend when she said it was good.

The buildings were cool to see. Too bad the Bird's Nest is falling apart. Building codes in China......REALLY bad.

Aww, what a good uncle you are! I love that you "brought" the kids along for the trip!! :lovestruc Erin, Dylan and Ashlyn must love seeing themselves in those pictures!

What a sharp contrast there is between the city and the country...

I am sure that I will never get the chance to travel to China... thanks, Jordan, for giving me a glimpse into such a facinating country! I'm looking forward to more pix (especially since I'm not on FB.)

Kathy

Wendy made the Flat Family. She forgot to give them to me and we had to meet on my way to the airport in a gas station parking lot.

Guiyang is the largest city in the poorest province in China with a population of 3 million. Beijing I believe has 18 million or is it 25 million.....

:scared1: I am going to block that picture of whatever that was dead on the table!
I am going to only think happy thoughts....like your gymnastics photos! Hilarious:rotfl2:I give you a 10 for the dismount!! Perfect form!

We were trying to think of something fun to do in front of the gymnastics venue and that's what came to mind...we were laughing as the Chinese people walked by thinking we were weird......:thumbsup2

I know I have to continually not try to be grossed out. Really the raw ones I saw were worse...

Wow! Roasted canine and underpants. That's GOT to be a DISboards first! :lmao: Loved all the photos. The contrast between downtown and the surrounding areas was amazing. Also loved the Beijing photos. (I may or may not have snorted out loud at the Michael Felps tribute.) The Olympic buildings looked really nifty. Looking forward to more updates!

wow Jordan, thanks for the education. OK, so I didn't watch much of the summer Olympics, so i never have ever seen this Birdsnest or Watercube thing- but WOW- they are truly cool looking.

As far as the dog, well, when I show my kids your pics, I'll tell them it was a rat or something.

It seems the people in Guiyang could use some missionaries. Even if you weren't there for that, wow!, ummm, what a trip.

Thank you forthe pics. We only see the pretty parts of China online, on TV, in research and all. THIS has been an educational PTR!!

Can't wait for more pics!

Lori

BTW- not sure if the once yummy Chinese Buffet close to my home will be the next place we go out to dinner with the family.....

The Olympic Village was even more impressive in person. The area was expansive and they had 2-3 more venues built right in the same area. The hard thing about China though is they don't really have a use for those venues now. Unlike the US, where we could use the large stadium for concerts, soccer, football, even baseball, in China, none of those sports is extremely popular.

It coulda been a rat.....just a very large one.

As far as the Chinese Buffet....I tend to go only to chain restaurants as they have more to lose with a foodborne illness outbreak......so if I do Chinese, it's usually Panda Express....

Okay, done with part 2. Great pics!:thumbsup2 I loved the Olympic buildings - falling bird's nest - :scared: How cute you brought the "flat kiddos" with you - I'm sure they learned alot!;)

I have to go back and look at the yukky thing - I thought it was pig's feet or something.

OH, I'M GONNA HURL - THAT IS THE WORST THING I'VE EVER SEEN! IT'S IN A RESTAURANT!

BARF O RAMA!!!! I can't believe it was dog! Ok, I can but I always told myself it was a lie until now.

You're pictures are great! Some i saw before and some not but it's fun to read the story behind them.

Love the dismount! 10!!!!!!!!!!!! All the way!!

Wendy made the kids for me and it was a surprise that I received on the way to the airport. I laughed when I opened the package. My friend, Grace, and I had a lot of fun with them.

They said the Bird's Nest is already in disrepair...:sad2:I'll talk more about the infrastructure of China in my next update.

It was gross. It was the first outdoor restaurant we passed along this whole street of outdoor restaurants that have these carts and little wok and then tables covered by a tent....crazy.

I almost did hurl....

I had to really look at it when I was taking the picture to make sure it was a doggie.....for the rest of the entire street full of the same type of restaurants I couldn't look at what they were selling...although I did see a pan full of dog behinds and tails.......:scared1:

I had to work at that dismount in my bulky clothes.;)

I don't think we have any chain Chinese restaurants down here! On this side of the lake, at least.... maybe the mall ones???

I am sure the place we go to is ok, but the thought, the INKLING that it may not be, is just disturbing.... I need a few days to get past that one!!

Well, those falling apart buildings are sooooooo pretty!

I liked the flat neices and nephews too-I bet they had fun seeing that!

I've eaten at hole in the wall mexican restaurants that have gotten closed down for serving horse meat.......:scared1:

I know the Bird's Nest is sooooooo cool. The Chinese people are very proud of it and even 7 month after the Olympics many people were out and taking pictures around the Olympic Village.

I don't even know if Wendy has shown them the pics yet.....:confused3
