Peanut allergy in World Showcase?

I just received an email from special diets. What a wonderful amount of information! One concern I still have is the CS places in WS at Epcot. The only place listed as having alternatives is Liberty Inn. We were planning on eating CS in Morocco, Mexico and Japan. I plan to ask when we get there but has anyone with peanut allergy had any luck finding safe children's foods at those locations or any other places in WS? (just peanuts allergy, other nuts are safe)

Teppan Edo (TS in Japan) does not use any peanut products in their cooking. I don't know if the same holds true for the CS place (it may or may not) but it might be worth checking with a manager. I have actually eaten at all three CS places you mentioned with a peanut allergy, but I am fortunate in that I have to actually consume peanuts and cross contamination issues aren't really a problem for me. So it might depend on the level of the allergy and your general comfort level.

make sure u tell them and they will bend over backward to help

The restraurants in World Showcase are not run by WDW and may have different allergy policies. Your best bet is to contact special diets and let them know of the allergy. They can help advise what is safe.

We were there in December. DS has a peanut/nut allergy. Mexico was completely fine and he was actually able to eat the churros for dessert. There are not many desserts he can have due to the cross contamination. I was emailing back and forth with special diets and also checked at each restaurant. Mexico brought out an ingredient book and showed me too. We ate TS in Japan and that was completely safe. We did not do Morocco. However, the 2 restaurants that I did not feel safe taking a chance was China and yak and yeti in AK. Most CS have ingredient books to show and they were just as accomodating as any other disney run restaurant.

He ate in England; America, Japan; Germany; Norway and Mexico.

For snacks: could not have funnel cakes but the crepes were ok. Nothing in french bakery but the veiled maiden in Norway was ok. But you always have to chekc to make sure nothing has changed.

Thanks so much! We have an ADR for Mexico so that's good to hear. I'm disappointed in the Boulangerie though. Its one of our favourite stops. I was also thinking about getting ADR for Les Chefs de France (never tried it) but now I'm second guessing. You didn't eat there but did you ask beforehand?

I should probably email special diets again and mention specific restaurants to see if they have more details even though I'll need to recheck once there.

My DD has a tree nut allergy too, so some of the restaurants that are ok with peanuts are not for tree nuts, so I can't offer about specific CS in WS. Each CS place has a book with all the ingredients and warning labels, like a pp said, ask a manager and they will take out the book and you can go over what is or is not ok. They are really good about it, although sometimes it takes time depending on how crowded it is.

I can tell you, (not to be a Debbie Downer, sorry) but we did not have a good experience with Les Chefs de France with food allergy accomodations and were disappointed with the level of concern there. We love the restaurant but will not eat there again if DDs are with us because of it.

Most other places we ate at in Epcot were wonderful and accomodating to their allergies.

We were advised by Special Diets not to eat at Chefs de France. We had an ADR, because DS8 wanted to meet Remy. I was glad they warned us. We changed our ADR to Teppan Edo and had a great time. They don't serve peanut products, except the desserts have a may contain warning. The waitress, chef, and manager were fantastic about the kids allergies (they also have tree nut and shellfish allergies).

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. Based on this, I'm not going to even try and get an ADR at Les Chefs. Its not worth the risk. We were thinking about Teppan Edo. I already have an ADR for Mexico and the kids actually asked to go back there but I wanted to try a new place. We're also eating at Akershus, LeCellier and Coral Reef. I need to find one or two counter services though... we're not a fan of the CS places in Future World. Obviously France is out. As is China from what I've read. What can anyone tell me about the CS place in Japan ... Yakatori House I think? If we don't do Teppan Edo, is that a good alternative?
