PBH or RPH club???

my husband and I want to go to Universal for a few nights in May, before heading to WDW.
It's just us, no kids, we cant decide between Portofino Bay - Bay view room, or Royal Pacific, club level.
Hard rock is not our style.
We always stay at Deluxe resorts at WDW, and love concierge. If Portofino had concierge, there would be no question.
and I'm not interested in the Butler service they have.
which should we choose???

How "un-deluxe" is the RPH????
or should I ask, how much more "deluxe" is PBH over RPH???

I do not have an answer for you. Just wondering why HRH is not your style. We are thinking of staying there. I have never been to any Universal resorts..thanks...amy

only because we arent too keen on the decor, and have heard that it is noisy.
the theming of elegant italian theme of PBH and the tropical theme of RPH intrigue us more.

You want to stay at PBH. They no longer the Bulter service but the overall elegance and romance of this place with take your breathe away! It's the ONLY resort I will ever be at on US property! OMG did I mention the BEDS! Wonderful fluffy duvet covers with down comfortors and goose down pillows and ahhhhhhhhh I want to sneak another trip in just telling you about the place. Oh did I mention the SPA. Oh they have a wonderful spa there. Book your room and don't look back try room 2663 (our room) deluxe pool view over looks beach pool dead center with a balcony. Best Wishes on a safe trip.

The balcony rooms are smoking. We stayed at PBH and loved it. I have not stayed at the other resorts, so I can't give any real answer as to which you should stay at. For our trip in Dec. we are staying at PBH again (got a great rate!). We were going to stay at RPH, but then switched because I got the great rate for not much more money. I do want to go look at RPH, I think it sounds beautiful. The rooms are smaller than PBH, but if it is just two of you that may not matter. Flip a coin it is less stressful LOL!!!!

Yes these is a smoking room. Although it did'nt smell like one. I suppose people are smoking on the balcony and not in the room or they do a really great job of de-smoking it. It was not stinky and musty it smelled great! You could not tell a difference it sure could have fooled me as a non smoking room.

I think we would like portofino bay better too! thanks for the tip on the room! I thought that no rooms had a balcony, we love balconies! one major reason we always stay at a deluxe!

is the pool view better than the bay view??? It is more expensive, but I wonder why? I would imagine that the Bay view is nicer?! no?????

The poolview room is actually a deluxe room that is larger with many more amenities.

Garden View Rooms

My two favorites! PBH any room & RP club level. I do adore Portofino in every way but I have to admit it's pretty nice at club level. You give up having a luxurious room but it's still pretty nice! The girls at club level are wonderful, and it's so nice to have breakfast right there, snacks, meet for happy hour and more. It's kind of like having a suite because you have a living room to go to.
They have been so helpful, remembering my upcoming stay the club concierge emailed me & alreadymade all my dinner reservations & reserved our favorite room for us.
But PBH is more romantic so you'll have to weigh the difference.

Can't speak for RPH, but stayed at PBH over Labor Day weekend in a poolview deluxe room. I highly recommend you stay at PBH. It is really lovely. We had a non-smoking room with a terrace overlooking the villa pool. We loved this room. The bathrooms are huge with separate shower. The hotel is fabulous. Beautiful grounds, nice restaurants, QUIET and relaxing atmosphere. I don't think you'll be sorry. By the way, we have also stayed at HRH. We liked it, but after staying at PBH, that would be our first choice from now on.

we are only staying for 3 nights, and we havent been to Universal since 1997, so we will be spending a lot of time at the 2 pars and city walk, checking everything out!
so, we wouldnt use the club level much anyway. PBH seems liek it would be perfect for us!

Luara, I agree if you aren't around to use the club level ammenities it isn't worth it. Sometimes we find ourselves rushing back to make sure we use them. You will love PBH! I do!
