What happens if you don't have enough points to cover a trip. For example let say you have 160 pts and you borrow from the next year (320pts) but the room you want is 400/500 pts? Can you pay the difference at a member price? Or do you pay the regular cash rate? Thanks

You can pay cash. You could use all the points you have to reserve the nights you can and then you could pay cash for what was not covered.I think we get maybe a 25% discount if there is anything availible for the discount price.

Another thing you could do that might come out cheaper is rent the other points you would need from another DVC member and have them transfer the points into your account. The going rate is like 10.00-11.00PP.So you could check that out to.

The member discount isn't always available, so don't count on it. If you have an AP, you might try for an AP rate if it is available. Or just pay cash through central reservations. However, if you have a non-DVC cash reservation, they can't be linked. You will need to have both reservations noted on the other and remind the front desk when you check in, so you can stay in the same room.

You could use points for as many nights as they will stretch and then pay cash for additional nights (if available). You can't split points/cash for a night. For example, you can't do 10 points plus $100 cash for a night.
