Paying off balance by cheque?

Has anyone ever paid off the balance of their cruise (before sailing...not balance of on-board charges) by cheque? I mailed mine in last week (a US dollar money order) and am concerned about how long they might wait for the cheque to clear since it's drawn on a Canadian bank. It should arrive this week, I would think. I have until September 14th (more than a month) to pay it off.

I payed mine off by check. As soon as they received it, I looked on line and it was paid off. It did take about 10 days to clear my bank.

Every check I have wrote to DCL has taken forever to clear 10 to 14 days....at least!!!!

Thanks. It could take a year to clear my bank for all I care...it's a money order...the money is gone from my account so it's not like I have to remember to keep it in there. The key here is that Disney posts it to my reservation quickly. Thanks for the information. It makes me feel a bit better.

even if it takes " forever" they should honor the check by the postmark on the envelope.

Although I have never sent disney a cheque my darling mother did send my family a very generous cheque last fall. The bank will tell you it takes 10 to 14 business days to clear but they can call your bank via the routing number and can tell if the funds are there. I don't think you should have a problem, since it is Disney and not a bank account that it is being deposited into. I know after I got very annoyed with the bank here in NC because my mother had called to see if it had been taken out of her account and they said yes - my bank was getting the interest on $10,000 of my money for almost two weeks. I am sure they probably do it to everyone but doesn't that just tick you off? It did me. Is it close to your final payment day? I might call the 800 number to see if they received it yet. good luck!

Can you all keep a secret? Shhhhhhh......our last sailing I didn't pay if off before the 60 days......DCl called about 5 weeks out and asked if we were still sailing.....I said, "yes of course why?" When they told me I had a balance I said "oh, I'm sorry, I'll pay that online right now." I did and recieved my docs the next week. Shhhhhhh they won't cancell ya if you check is late........don't sweat it.

It's a money order so it's not as easy to tell if it has been cashed or cleared. I'm not really worried about that. It's more how Disney treats it. If they waited to get confirmation that it had cleared, I might miss the date. Someone mentioned the postmark ....it'll be there in plenty of time (assuming it doesn't get lost) so I'm not worried about that either.

I will call if I don't see it posted online within 10 days. Thanks everyone for the reassurance!
