I just called Member Services to add the DDP to the reservation I made for my niece and her new husband to use on their honeymoon. I was told that I could add the plan but could not pay for it - the dining plan has to be paid for at check in. That seems really odd to me. Has anyone else been told the same thing?

We just returned from a split stay, VWL/BWV, and had the dining plan on both reservations. We paid for both at check-in. They had told me the amount due when I made the reservations.

I really wanted to have it paid for ahead of time as it is a gift for the newlyweds. They said the only time it can be paid for is at check in.

I have a question about paying for the DDP as well...

Is there any way to pay for a couple of days of the Deluxe DDP and then have the regular DDP for the rest of the stay? I thought I had read somewhere that someone has done this. I was thinking of doing the Deluxe DDP for the first few days we are there.

yes..you pay at check in..if you'd like you could purchase them a gift card..disney or other to pay for it.

I had not even thought of a gift card. That is the perfect solution - thanks so much!

DVC does not have an accounts receivable system for reservations. So you can't pay for the dining plan in advance and they also do not charge a deposit for member cash reservations. Both are paid for at check-in.

You would have to have two separate reservations and would not be able to link the two. If you link the two, they actually become one and you would have to do the same dining plan for both. But if you don't link them, you will have to check out and check in again for the second one AND (and this is the big AND) you may have to move.

Yes, it can be done with a split stay. As the PP said, it requires two separate reservations, check in and out, and most likely, the moving of rooms.

We used a combination of the DDP and QSDP when we were there in August (which was nice). We were switching resorts so had to move anyway, but are planning it for next summer too.

We are staying 2 nights in a BLT studio and then moving into a 1 bedroom for 4 nights. We will do the DDP for those first two (since we only like to do 1 - 2 TS anyway) and then either do OOP for the last 4 or the QSDP.

We purchased Disney gift cards online and gave them to our adult kids to pay for their dining plans when they got there at checkin. It worked out perfectly.
