Pay for sitting up front in the monorail?

1. Emailing someone's bidders in an Ebay auction is auction interference and big Ebay no-no (Ebay Policy on Auction Interference). If the bidders report the messages you have sent them, you will get a warning from Ebay for auction interference.

2. Posting the person's email address without their knowledge and permission is totally inappropriate.

I agree wholehardedly on point #2 but I did send an email to the seller and the buyers and I think it's totally worth getting into trouble if I saved that buyer $25 for something that is free. I think Ebay should make it much easier to report a sale that is not right. I had a VERY hard time finding out how I could report that sale to Ebay...

The question is this though, Is this interference in a legitimate auction OR is this interference in the perpetration of an act of fraud?

I have emailed buyers a couple of times in the past that I think were seriously being ripped off. I would probably do it again too. If Ebay wants to reprimand me, so be it. They need to exhibit tighter controls on some of their sellers who are in reality petty criminals.

All anyone had to do to get her address was to go to the auction and there it is. I am not sure it was in appropriate in this instance. If it was a blind email address (if there is any such thing there) then I would agree.

As to your first point, I concur with Sgt. Disney and Beattyfamily,
this was a ripoff, a theft, a scam or whatever you want to call it, and I think it is ok to protect someone from this type of behavior.

The rules apply to a legitimate auction selling legitimate merchandise. I would say that the "wrong" would be NOT doing something about an obvious rip-off!
I think it's great that DISers are such as caring bunch and take the time to assist people who don't realize they are being taken and to warn people that fraud will not be tolerated.

While this seller is obviously a freakshow, I'm not sure why EVERYONE keeps e-mailing her to tell her the same thing that we know she has already received e-mails on. Especially since we know she is not receptive to the message. Why bother to keep e-mailing her? She gets your point and obviously is going to do what she wants to do.

...notice that if you go to the completed monorail auction there is a *different* email address for the seller, and if you do a search on *that* email address it brings up a different eBay user? This SAME person gave herself feedback (click on the one positive feedback on the monorail person to see where it takes you) and has auctioned off not only overpriced food vouchers and park tickets, but also the LINK to Connections (for $4.95). Truly a PROFESSIONAL scam artist! No wonder she sent so many nasty emails.....

Back when the Disney Store was handing out the Sept. 11 liberty bell pins, i was searching for stuff on e-bay, and saw that one of these came up (it was on the 9th or 10th), so I e-mailed the buyer telling them that they can get their own for free if they go to the disney store on the 11th... and they were very greatful ;)

This auction though, i would not mind her selling it as a suvinear, but to just go all out and LIE is anothing thing....

humm... i think I have some AOL 4.0ish disks laying around my house.... maybe...... :p

The email address that was posted in this thread and has since been deleted was not the same as the one posted in the auction.

Even if it was the same, it is still clearly against this boards rules to post someone's email address without their knowledge and permission.

I would like to add, and I know I'm going to be made out as the bad-guy for saying this, but no one has proven that there is no such thing as was being sold in this auction. While not even Tyler could find proof such a thing does exist, Disney is big enough that I easily believe that such a pass does exist and many folks, even within Disney's own Transportation Department, have no knowledge of it ...

Although I understand where you are coming from here... Neither the monorail pilots I spoke with, nor the Monorail guest service manager I spoke with had any knowledge of such item. These people pretty much are in the know with things about thier area...

I think you make a good point. While I think the person who sold this is a dirtbag for misrepresenting (sort of) this item, if the rumor that the person who sold this and the person that left the feeback item for this person are one in the same, he/she/they  have a 100% positive feedback rating. While he/she/they  may be selling what we consider to be shady items, those that are buying seem to be pretty happy.

What is my point? Other than the fact that this is proof that a sucker is born every minute , even a shady seller (maybe especially a shady seller) doesn't want to risk a 100% positive feedback rating. Soooooo..........I do think it is a good bet that this person has something in hand to deliver that will provide what was advertised. Heck, it probably is impossible to get one of these on your own, just as advertised. It is the fact that the seller implies that the use of such a voucher is the only way to get into the front of the monorail that turns my stomach . I bet the seller would even argue that he/she/they  didn't even imply that. This is a matter of what the seller didn't say, as opposed to what he/she/they  did. Take a good look at the description of the item. In a court of law there is no way you could convict him/her/them  of fraud, so long as he/she/they  delivers a voucher. Given that Disney is such a big place, that has offered so many things for such a long time, even though Tyler can't confirm the existence of such a voucher, I'd bet this person has one.

Am I defending this person? No way. It is this type of seller that gives eBay a bad name. I applaud many of you for contacting eBay and hopefully they will look a little closer at this seller. Unfortunately, a fool and his money are, truely, easily seperated from their money, and it probably happen all the time on eBay. As they say, caveat emptor, but not every follows this advice.

I am sure if it were against the rules, which I don't doubt you about, the "powers that be" will take care of the censoring of this.

Not my monkey, so they say, I did not post it, nor do I care if it were posted. If this person were a DIS member, then that would be a different issue, for me.

HI,
I went to the monorail auction, there is only one positive feedback for this person and it is not the monorail ticket.
She has no other auctions listed and only one feedback, and you cannot even see what that is. And, when you do a search for this new name, nothing comes up. This is odd.

Just to clarify, you can search for a seller using an email address, and that is what I did on the email that shows on the completed monorail auction. It leads to a different user id. This other user id is the same one that left the one positive feedback for the monorail seller. Make sense? Okay, I will stop obsessing over this nonsense auction.... Very odd, indeed!:D

Laura,
It has to be me, I did what you did and I get nothing for an email address for this person. I went back and did a search for the original email address (the one posted here) and it directs me back to her new name, but, I see nothing in a feedback for her from her. Oh, well, I don't think I am as good at detective work as you are. :)

LOL - DH teases me about being a detective (I'm a banker)... Now I am just looking again....okay, the email address that I am talking about appears under payment instructions (near the top, on the right). Go to search by seller id and enter that email address. It must be different from the one that you are checking. Oh boy, I just can't stop!!

Laura,
LOL, I am a former banker myself, then a title searcher, but, you got me beat. LOL
