Pasta Sause and Pizza?

My Husband (to be) hates the pizza down in disney ... no idea i didn't have it. I just booked our ADR today at: Coral Reef, Mama Melrose, and Crystal Palace. He is worried about the sauses at Mama Melrose. Any complaints? or comments.

I don't know about those places, but in November I got some spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce at Tony's Town Square for dinner and the sauce ruined my whole meal.
It tasted watered-down and normally that wouldn't be a huge deal, but I'm not used to the tatse of Florida water if you know what I'm saying.

I have a hard time finding a red sauce that I actually enjoy in Disney. To me that is where the meals are lacking (I know some like it though). I did not enjoy Mama's. The other places I am sure have other things he could order.

My kids REALLY dislike the pizza at Disney and after trying it a couple of times over the last 10 years at different restaurants, they no longer order it. All of us also stay away from red tomato sauces anywhere on property except Alfredo's (soon to be gone) in Epcot and Palio (which is no more) at the Swan. At Mama Melrose we had non red sauce entrees not because we were trying to stay away from it just happened that way. We haven't eaten at Mama Melrose in about 4 years but are going this year.

I have no idea what they use but it is so easy and simple to make good red sauce if you use a good canned brand like Pastene or Nina's. We cook Italian at home and make homemade tomato sauce, we are all spoiled from it

Well that's the problem right there - they ought to keep the water, especially Florida water, out of the sauce!

Well...taste is very personal and subjective, but I know what your husband is talking about. I had a pizza at Mama Melrose and as I recall I made up for the pizza by having a few stiff drinks...the pizza was great after a few drinks. I might suggest considering replacing Mama Melrose with another restaurant choice. Italian food at Disney is like Italian food in Hawaii...we avoid it at both destinations

Does your husband dislike the counter service pizza or has he tried it at a table service restaurant? If it is counter service, then I agree the pizza is evil at Disney. I find that the food at Mama Melrose's is acceptable but not the greatest Italian food I have had.
