Passports

Update:

I called with with DH and they verified all his info, why the photo was signed and dated for March vs the form for May.

And they took my credit card info over the phone.

Sounds like it will be on its way soon, thank god!

Lesson learned... Don't use cheques.

Glad it's all sorted! I use cheques to pay my rent (old school landlord) but otherwise I don't usually use them for much of anything. Used to be for school stuff but they have "cash online" now so it's more like an interact payment.

Canada Post tacking shows that DS’s application was delivered, now to stalk my credit card to see when it gets charged!

Sent out our passports May 30th via registered post.
They showed received June 1st and my credit card was charged on Thursday June 10th.
I will post when we actually get them back.
I am really happy it seems to have gone smoothly so far.
I hope to see them within the month.

Once mine showed up on my credit card, it wasn’t long until I received them! I say them because I got the original passport/birth certificate first and then 2 days later the new passport. I’m so happy with how smooth it was, I was worried about sending through the mail but it went great!

I have to say Passport Canada is doing well with these renewals for the most part. And I think we are all pretty smart to get them done before things reopen.

That is 100% why we got DS another child's passport now instead of waiting for his 16th birthday in July. As soon as things open up, the passport offices are going to be super busy!

Agreed. I’ve got two applications for my kids sent in today. Hopefully they’ll go through as fast as the rest of them on this thread. Fingers crossed.

Update-
My daughter got her new passport and her original one back, in separate envelopes, on Thursday June 17th and I got mine the same way the next day.
So it was approx 3 weeks from date of mailing to receiving the new ones.
We opted for 10 year ones and it is so weird to see an expiry date of 2031!

I renewed passports for both my kids and my husband a couple of months ago and it went super smoothly! We were very nervous sending our documents through the mail but everything went perfectly and we received all of our documents back and new passports in about 3 weeks. Anyone hesitating should not be worried - go for it! I bet once the passport offices open back up it's going to be nuts.

Checked my credit card yesterday and I was charged for DS's passport so yay!

So I sent my passport in for renewal. They received it July 15. I sent it purolator, as our service Canada office was still closed. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks....still no charge on my cc. They must be busy. I missed getting it in earlier. So either they are busy OR I filled out the renewal form incorrectly. I haven't received it back yet. Crossing my fingers I see the charge on the cc soon. I have never been so anxious for a cc charge to actually post before :scared1: :scratchin

You can check the status here:

https://secure.cic.gc.ca/rs-vd/stat-eng.aspx
You can find out the status. For minors, you have to call find out, which is what I did for DD's at that time. They were able to tell me it was received, in the system, just not yet processed. They were also able to tell me that my form of payment was holding it up (I sent in a personal cheque, like, duh).

Thank you!!!!!! I am just wondering what's up. When I have applied in the past for myself, dh, and our boys - the same way - just send through purolator ( as Canada Post and myself don't have a good relationship) I'm thinking by three weeks we could see the charge on our cc.

I am just worried I missed something or filled something out incorrectly. I triple checked it....crossing my fingers that they are just busy.
