Passports

Can anyone confirm if you need to mail separately if you have multiple passports to renew? I've only done the in person renewals or in person drop offs, never had to package and send before.

This is what I did. I put the application and supporting documents for each of my daughters in separate sealed envelopes — with their name, and “passport application” labelled on top. I put both of their envelopes in one Canada Post cardboard express post or whatever it was envelope at the post office. So I only paid for one delivery, but the applications were clearly separated within the package.

The returned mail did come separately from the government, addressed to each girl ... on the same day. 😉

We sent ours as registered (trackable) mail two weeks ago. It arrived in Ottawa four days later and we had a call last week asking verification questions. Guessing it’ll be here this week or next :)

My son's expired last October and since he turns 16 in July we are just going to wait and get him an adult passport in a few months.
This was our plan but then decided the opposite and squeezed in renewel of child passport just before he turned 16. It was cheaper plus we didn't have to worry about getting him other photo id during the pandemic.

Was worried of the whole process but like OP, we it took less than a month from time we mailed it to tine we received new one.

I need to get new passport photos.... and I'm in Ontario. Does anyone know of any place to get these during our lockdown?

our shoppers is still doing the pictures, a quick call to find out if one near you is still offering them. I know they didn't during the first lockdown but i saw someone getting it done on Sunday

Good idea, thanks.

I just checked my tracking number. I sent it May 18 and it was received May 20! Not too shabby. And the Canada Post lady wanted me to buy Xpresspost with guaranteed 2-day delivery for $22! I'll take option #1 for $12.

I mailed off kiddos application today. Should be there Tuesday, long weekend :( I am glad I have the account that gets me a bit off the price and insurance. Hopefully I did everything right and it's back sooner than later! Phew...

@hdrolfe I know what you mean! My friend had her son’s mailed back and she had to have it redone as the pics were off slightly!!

That is a worry! Plus since I am a single mom (by choice, so no dad on the birth certificate) I worry they will question that. Though he already had a passport so hopefully that doesn't cause a problem.

I think he will be fine since he isn’t a new applicant.

I keep looking at my MasterCard online to see if it went through! I’m so scared I missed a number or the pic isn’t perfect enough. I don’t want to have to re-send! Will be happy to see it charged to my card lol

When I sent in my foster son's I put the credit card number in incorrectly. They just called and took the number over the phone. I hope that eases your mind.

One of my kids is done. Weird, because I sent them together at the same time. I got a call early last week to verify some info and received it Friday. No phone call for the second, and no passport for the second. Turn around time for the first was three weeks from mailed out to received back.

I thought this link would be useful for those waiting on passports. You can check online to see the status of your application. Now, with kids you have to call them to find out 1-800-567-6868.

They had record of receiving DD's application but no other info right now as it likely hasn't been looked at yet. I mentioned that I had sent a personal cheque and she said "Oh, I don't think we take cheques anymore" ugh. So I fully expect to get a call/email for a credit card number, which makes me uneasy since we know there are TONS of scammers out there.

My package was received and the payment was made to my MC so we'll see from there I guess. It's been a week. :D

I sent mine around the same time as yours so hopefully soon. They also told me it might take a bit longer with a cheque since they have to wait until it cashes before they send anything back. I keep checking my bank account but nothing cashed yet.

I sent my kiddos in the mail mid May and nothing charged to my CC yet. I hope it goes through I’m worried it will be sent back with something missing. I check my Cc daily to see if it’s on there yet.
