I was just reading in the Mickey Monitor that MGM is having a passholder event a few nights in March where Rock N Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror will be open. I have 2 questions:

1. Does everyone in the party have to be an AP holder, or are guests permitted?

2. Do you think the events will be as crowded/disorganized as the one at Animal Kingdom was?

According to Guest Relations for the Mickey Monitor and for The Studios I have been told that they have NO IDEA!! They don't have a copy of the MM and don't know if the park is closing early or if barracades will be set up like they are for early viewing of Osbourne Lights.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It looks like you may have to leave the Park or be sent to a holding pen for one hour, the MM states;
"Please note that a one-hour delay will occur between Park closing and re-opening. If you are at Disney-MGM Studios during the day and need a place to wait during that hour, simply stop by the Production Window at the front of the Park for instructions".

We made it to the Osborne Lights this past Nov. for the AP Event, and I found it to be VERY crowded but not necesarly unorganized. They had NY St. blocked off with barracades, and were checking everyones AP before they let them in.

I am going to try to make the ToT event on 3/7 or 3/8, but if it is unorganized or crowded I am gone.

What AP event did they have at AK?

Good luck.:jester:

Luvpooh,

I would like to ask which nights the passholder events are scheduled for in March. We just purchased our first APs two days ago so we do not have access to the Monitor yet. We will be there 3/1 through 3/7. Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks!

The event @ MGM for the ToT and the RnR is March 7-9 and March 14-16 six nights total.

doitagain, you might want to add a day to your trip.

Hey doitagain,

Always great to see someone else from Mobile. Are you getting excited yet?

I know my family can't wait. Have a great time.

The passholder event I was referring to at the Animal Kingdom was in 2002 I believe and the AK opened after closing for AP holders. I believe the Dinoland area was opened and guests could go on the 2 new rides and play the games there. I think there were also free beverages/food, and the lines were supposedly ridiculously long! From all that I read, it was very disorganized and crowded.

Does anyone know what the rule is for bringing a non-passholder guest? Is this not allowed?

Just completed a conversation with Convention Events at MGM.

This event is for Premium/Annual Passholders only. No guests will be allowed, No seasonal passholders. All non AP holding guests will have to leave when the park closes. Only AP holding guests will be allowed back in.

For AP guests not wishing to leave the park the Beauty and the Beast Theatre will be cleared out for AP guests to wait. CMs will not be allowed to "bend" the rules. CMs are following instructions they have been given. The instructions are for our safety. Disney is standing firm by this decision as there are becoming so many APs that Annual Passholders can fill the parks to capacity for a special event. So no Seasonal Passholders or friends, neighbors or out of town relations being asked special allowances.

Hope I didn't sound like I was preaching, but am hoping I covered all followup questions in a polite, informative and considerate manner :D

thanks Pintrader. I'll have my sis with me on this trip and she doesn't have an AP, so I was just trying to see if it was worthwhile to schedule this into the itinerary. Hopefully this event will be less crowded and more enjoyable!

Hey!!

Always glad to find another Mouser from BAMA, and especialy our home town!!!

We will be going down 3/1 through 3/8. With hopefully many more trips to come this year using our APs. Our kids are out the entire week of Mardi Gras (which is really funny to us because our kids go to a private Christian school).

And to answer your question "are we excited yet?" 2 months before Christmas our kids could give you the count down in days, and it wasn't the count down to 12/25 either!!! LOL

This will be my seventh trip, and it just keeps on getting better and better. Hence the name DoItAgain. LOL

LOL, I think you are right Spike! I normally like to have Sunday to recover from the road trip, but.... ToT and RnR are our personal favorites. Our usually stratagy is to ride RnR, then grab a fast pass. Ride the ToT twice, then use RnR FP, get off, grab another FP, then ToT X2..... This night could really rock!!!

Thanks Spike!
