Passed ROFR 3/14, still waiting for closing docs

Vicki, I called this morning and the points were NOT in the account. The guy who I spoke to was very helpful, he looked by my ssn, address...didn't find anything. I am not surprised, I think we both closed on the 13th and no administrative work is done on the weekends so this is only the 4th business day. He said to feel free to check back even later today. I asked him if he had any idea on average how long it was taking, and he said "It's definitely taking the full 5 days". I'm guess this is sort of a standard answer. They must be slowing down a little?
Let me know if you call today. They were very nice, it took a few minutes. I will update you tomorrow if I call...and if anybody else has any info on a recent points update with MS, please let me/us know!

Thanks for the update! I did close last Weds 3/13 (found out from the title company) and then got an e-mail from the resale broker on Saturday telling me I closed. They told me Saturday that I should wait a week to call. I was baffled at the answer I received last Tuesday about my name in the system with someone else's info, so I did call MS on Friday. I talked to 3 different people who were all very nice - MS and then 2 in MA. The third person - the woman entering in the points - was especially helpful and told me to call back Thursday - even gave me her direct line. She said she had over 150 accounts to enter and they were doing it in the order received. She and another woman were the only two people setting up accounts. I think I might wait till Thursday...unless you get points Today!

So - I have my spreadsheet of options with point values for an early June trip, late October, and heck - I might as well get ready to book Spring Break 2012 - the 11 month window is Sunday! It sure will feel nice to have these things booked!! And the best part, if there is ANY availability in June, I'll be 6 weeks from an awesome vacation!

Presumably those points are somehow frozen or something though, no? I would hope that a disreputable seller couldn't go in and mess around with points after a resale has closed... (Obviously speaking generally here, not casting any aspersions on you! )

I believe they are frozen if I tried to use them, that is what I have heard. It is day 11 and they are still sitting in my account which is not encouraging for me since we just got closing docs for a resale we are buying! I was excited to have closed but it looks like another few week wait to actually get points!

I got the same email from the resale Broker THIS monday saying we had closed. I called and said I was told we had closed last Wednesday by the closing agent; the broker reassured me to go by the closing agents date, b/c they snail-mailed the closing package to the broker, so she was just getting it. Amazingly, when I called yesterday they also had my exact name with a different address; I think it's just another member with the same name. I offered to use that members points until mine are loaded, and the CM laughed...they've been very nice. I did call again today, just to check, and was told nothing yet. Your info about the backlog makes sense b/c the CM told me to try again end of day. She said that they are entering them all day, so I could be in the system literally at any time. I might try again end of day....and then again tomorrow....and again Thursday!

Good luck with the June and October reservation. I hope you find something. We'd like to go in October as well, but are also flexible and will probably shoot for the Nov 12-19th week b/c we have family that will be down there. My wife has to go down for business at some point as well, so we've talked about making a quick, 3-4 day trip to check out one of the resorts we haven't yet seen. Our problem is we cannot travel to WDW next year, so we have a lot of points to use this year!

If anything changes when I call, I'll post it to this thread.

Well... I found out that I closed after 5pm ET Wednesday (4/13), called Friday and then didn't call again till today. So I guess about 5 business days. (But I'll always wonder if I should have called Monday or Tuesday.)

So thrilled that the wait is over!! Send you ALL speedy thoughts!

Vicki, I'm really happy for you--did you get what you wanted for June/Oct? That really gives me hope. I was told I closed around noon on Wed, 4/13, so I am hoping I'll be in the system by tomorrow? I called late this afternoon and was not in.
The lady I spoke to today actually said that it could take 2-4 weeks, so I am very reassured that you are already in. Did you find it easy making the reservation? Did you burn through 3 years worth of points already?

Reservations were tough, but we got rooms. I was worried there would be none! Split-stay in a 1br at BWV and studio at SSR. October is a studio at AKV - Kidani Savannah view. Totally jazzed about that one. I think we may have taken the last room in each category. You'll find us near the ice machines, across from the elevators..

Hang in there everybody. The sense of relief when it's over is awesome!

So I know this is a dumb question, but does "closed" indicate the day your deed was recorded, or the day it was sent to Disney to be transferred? Curious because our deed was recorded on 4/13 and received by Disney on 4/15. I am at the Wait Inn and wondering how long until I get to check-out....

Gosh! I'm not sure! I didn't get that much info. The title company just said we were "closed" on the 13th. I would only assume that it was sent to Disney to be transferred that day. I got another email, this time from the resale broker, on Saturday and it said we were closed. Maybe that's when the deed was recorded? Sorry I'm not much help.

I hope you get to leave the Wait Inn soon!

OP here - still now word, and I have tried contacting a couple of people. i am starting to get mildly concerned since this has been since 3/14, yesterday was 3 weeks waiting for closing docs.

What does the broker say is going on? What did your contract say about the closing date? Those dates are always set beyond what they really think it will be.

We're waiting on our seller to send papers back. It's driving me nuts.

Interesting side note - I caved in and called MS yesterday just to see if maybe we closed already and they forgot to tell me. They had our names in the system, but a different ssn and address with those names. So either there's another DVC member couple with the same name, or they've changed the name on the account already, but not the rest of the information. Won't be long now!

This just happened to me too! They found my name in the system, but my SSN didn't match up-- and I immediately remembered this thread! So things must be in the works... hopefully this means not much longer until our first reservation!
