We are thinking very seriously about this, which is a great deal for $50 especially as we shall be in Orlando for 21 days, does this have a time limit on it, i.e. is it good for a year like you AP's, or once you have one it's eternal!, has anyone used one? do you show it at the begining of the meal/when booking or just when you come to pay? Thanks for the info.

I think it last a year like the APs, from the date you first use it. It is worth the money because you save 20% on a lot of restaurants and counter service. If you use it at the table service you are covering the tip basically, though saving $20 on a $100 meal, you can save $5-6 dollars if you are a family of 4-5 at each counter service. I think it is a god deal for us in the UK as we tend to go to WDW for 2-3 weeks, and that is a lot of discounted meals. Of course thats if you eat on site regularly. IMO, APs are much better value than tickets as it is not much more for an AP than for a 14 day ticket and with the bonus of the DDE even better. :goodvibes We buy the APs and try to go to WDW every 11 months. :cool1:
Here is a link to some info: DDE You need to present it when ordering, which I think makes it easier when paying the bill.

It is good for approximately one year after you purchase it. It takes about 1-2 months to actually get the card from the time you order it. I ordered mine at the beginning of January, and I finally got it in March. The expiration date on the card is 2/28/2006.

They will email you a document that you can print out and use until your card arrives. We visited WDW at the end of January and did not yet have the card. The piece of paper with the documentation worked just fine instead.

The only counter service where the card is good is as the Value Resorts. (All Star and POP) Most of the restaurants are the sit-down ones. We easily saved more than the $50 during our January trip, so our trip in June will be all profit! :)

Technically you are supposed to show them the card and your AP when you order. Sometimes I forgot to tell them until part-way through the meal, but they didn't seem to care. I can't remember having to show them my AP. I think they can look up the AP on their computer and so they don't have to actually look at it.

I think it is a very good deal as it makes the sit-down meals (which we enjoy very much) more affordable.

It is good at counter service at any resort that lacks a full service restaurant so besides the value resorts you can also use it at POFQ. Maybe CBR....does it have full service anymore?

It should be very good value for you on such a long trip as long as you dine at those counter service spots or virtually any Disney owned full service restaurant....even Victoria & Alberts. It isn't good at Swan and Dolphin or some of the DTD restaurants.

Yes, it is good at POFQ. That is one reason we are staying there. That, plus the kids want to try the "dragon slide with Ariel's dad on it." :)

i ordered my discount card but have not received it as of yet my trip is at the end of the month so i haven't started to panic i only recived the e-mail print out of what restraunts will be taking the discount card
:earsgirl: but just in case i do not receive my card in time for my trip who do i e-mail to receive the voucher to show for my discount :earsboy:

The DDE card is good for approx 13 months after you order it. And the it expires from purchase date, not initial usage, like an AP works.
There are many places it is good, even food courts.
Other places it does not count towards a discount, your AP might. (Fulton's, as an example) But that discount is normally only 10%. I think House of Blues might be 20% with AP.
Between the two you are covered fairly well on meal discounts.
We have a tendency to not eat at WDW counter service (only when we "have" to) due to no discount at counter, but 20% discount at sit down.
The sit down meals are by far better than counter.
Sit down meals cost more, obviously. But sometimes that cost is worth it when you look at the counter choices! (MGM as a good example.)

Counter service is one thing Universal does better than Disney. Better choices, better food, more often, and AAA and AP discounts.

When you received that list, didn't you also get an enclosure stating that you had ordered the DDE card. That is how it worked for us and many others. Lots of people have reported using that email confirmation without any problem.

You won't receive a voucher like you do with an AP. Just the email confirmation until the actual card arrives. Ours came just a few days before our trip. :sunny:

no just a participating locations sheet should i e-mail dde
how long did it take you to receive your card i just faxed my order with credit card infomation hoping with a credit card order i will receive it faster but i just did it last week

It took about 3 weeks for mine to arrive (I ordered in January and they were very busy then) if you don't get it a week before your trip I would call them and have them e-mail you a confirmation. Don't wait until the last date because you may not actually get to speak to someone when you call. I had to leave a VM and they returned my call the day after.

I think I would call or email DDE tomorrow. It seems funny to have only received a list of restaurants. I would be concerned that the order wasn't actually placed. You should get the confirmation email tomorrow or the next day.

I ordered in mid January and received our cards 5 1/2 weeks later.

Since it activates when I purchase it...can I purchase it when I get to WDW? :3dglasses

You can call the DDE office when you get to WDW and ask them to fax the confirmation letter to your hotel. The DDE office is only open Mon-Fri, normal business hours (9am-5pm?) so this approach only works if you are arriving at WDW during the week. If you will be arriving at WDW after 5pm on Friday or any time Sat or Sun, you would have to wait until Monday morning to order the DDE and would miss out on the discount for the first few days of your trip.

Hiya. I was told that they email you your confirmation within 24 hours of your order. They did that with me. Here is the email address I got my confirmation letter from: WDW.Disney.Dining.Experience@disney.com

Send an email off to them with your order details and see what they say. Good luck!

Make sure to read the letter they send you carefully. I booked mine 2 weeks ago and they send me the confirmation letter but it says on it that the letter itself is valid until *MAY 31, 2005* - so if the actual card doesn't arrive in a few weeks, I need to order another letter. Silly business really!!!

thank you all for your advice I did e-mail them today explaining what i received and asked them to please send another e-mail so i can just copy it although it could have been that i just downloaded the participating locations and should have copied my e-mail what do i copy just the opening letter? now i remember it was a short e-mail from Rosa Flores
if that doesn't work and i still have not received anything by the begining of the week i leave i will contact them again for a comfirmation to have faxed to my hotel for me

The strange thing is they never sent me a list of participating restaurants
:confused3 I'm going by the list at allearsnet. Was I meant to receive a list? I hope it's the same as the one at allears.

The restaurants were the same as allears the last time I checked. The list I received may have had a few more discounts on it, like Pleasure Island, the Boardwalk night clubs and, I think, the sports complex.

You also get a discount at all the counter service restaurants at AK, since they don't have a sitdown restaurant. RFC is not owned by Disney.
