Party for the Senses question

I will be going to WDW with my DD1 and DD5 and my mother. I was planning on spending one night alone  at Epcot to have dinner and find a good spot to watch Illuminations. We have been to WDW serveral times over the past few years, so I don't need to tour the countries, but Illuminations has always been "too loud" for my husband and daughter, so I have yet to see it.

Would you suggest I go to Party for the Senses instead of just dinner. I will be 4 months pregnant at the time and do not really enjoy wine anyway. So is it worth it for just the food and entertainment?

Also, will I be able to view Illuminations from a good spot afterward?

Thank you for any suggestions.

My opinion would be no. It is a lot of money ($135) if you are just going to eat. And even at 4 months you may not want to eat exotic or spicy foods. You could have a wonderful meal in Epcot for less than $135 for yourself.

PftS is a giant, fancy Cocktail Party. The wine if easily half the cost of the ticket.

If you are comfortable at huge Cocktail parties by yourself & don't mind shelling out $135 before tax for food, it's a great Party. We started going yearly because we love it so much.

Most likely you will not find a spot to sit, unless you are ok walking up to strangers cocktail tables. So be aware of that. I think it's much more fun shared with someone. That's me tho, I'm comfy at big parties if I know I have at least one person I know to talk to, but going totally alone makes me a little off-kilter.

Personally, I'd snack around the World if I was alone.

There is no special viewing area for Illuminations for Party guests. You would have to leave the Party early to stake out a spot, or take what you can get after the Party is over.

Gotta agree with Leota.

You could go nuts snacking around the world, be sure of the food being served (b/c the PFTS menus aren't posted ahead of time), and save a lot of money, vs. the $135 cost, pre-tax, for 2007.
Wine is a big part of the value (and fun) of PFTS. If you aren't going to be having wine, I really don't think the value is going to be there for you.

I would vote no for PFTS as well. A lot of the fun of the food and wine festival is snacking at each of the food booths around Epcot. It would be an option over a sit down dinner you can have any time of the year.

Thank you everyone for your input. I was tempted after reading one of the menu's posted from last year. I will pass on it for now and have a nice dinner at San Angel Inn. Then get a good spot for Illuminations, especially since that was my goal in the first place. I will also plan on going on a night that should be less crowded than Saturday.

Thanks again.

Hello! If you haven't already made your trip, I have a bit of advice for Illuminations
There is a little island off the bridge between UK and France. There is usually a CM there with a roped entrance making it look like a VIP area. If you tell the CM at the rope about your Illuminations quest, they may grant you access to the 'private island'. I was lucky enough to watch the show from there last month after a particularly horrible rainstorm ruined the show the night before. We just happened to be chatting with the CM at the rope at about 8pm and told her about the hail and rain the night before. She gave us laminated passes for the island and let us in at about 10 til 9 so we could get our spot. It looked to our group that they only let about 25 people in, so it was perfect! You get a fantastic view of the laser show, and can see most of the countries. HTH you enjoy ILLUMINATIONS!! :3dglasses
