So it looks like I am leaving you all. We're having to postpone our trip, my grandmother is not well, spent last weekend on a ventilator. She's home because there's nothing else they can do. They give her 2 months or so. So we're pushing our trip back to late February.

Enjoy your trips, have magical Christmasy times! & shop, shop, shop! pixiedust:pixiedust:

I may peek in from time to time as there seems to be no February thread!? :confused3 :faint:

Oh No, take care and my advice for you is to start a February thread for fun!

30 days till I'll be back home after a very long 4 years.. Can't wait!!!!!!!

Good news!

Southwest's prices for our flight went down AGAIN!

This has been about the 5th time we've rebooked our flights, saving us mucho RR points.

So not only do we get a few more points back into the account, but now I have enough to get another $50 gift card of my choosing.

Everyone who's flying SW, check your prices!!

I landed 6, 4k rewards one way tickets today! Woohoo!

So good to hear y'all are okay, thought about you last night, this morning and while chaparoneing a school dance tonight. I was anxious to get home and find out all is well.

How did you end up living in the Bhamas? Just curious?

Stay dry everyone!:wave2:

Hope y'all are safe.

Guess what! We took the kids to a community event tonight and I ran into upper management for the position I interviewed, she came up and met my family. She told me that things move slow, but they were certainly moving, and shed be talking to me soon. Sounds good, maybe?

Wow lucky you! That, sounds very positive! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!:cheer2:

Good morning:goodvibes

I'm far too tired to be up this early. My husband woke me up from deep sleep to go put down one of the shutters upstairs. I also managed to get a huge bruise on my leg because I was too tired to look where I was going:headache:

Sandy is something else.....all day yesterday it was much calmer and she was moving away from us. People started the clean up process, I let my cat out, cleaned up the house etc. We did know that the wind would start picking up again...technically the back of the hurricane, but on the radar it doesn't look like there is anything over us:confused3 Well, it is blowing a hurricane out there again and this is just getting ridiculous:mad:

I guess it is time to introduce myself and tell you a little about 'discookiemonsta':) My 'real' name is Samantha and I'm originally from Austria. When I was 9 years old I was adopted from my uncle (who happened to have moved from Austria to Canada to the Bahamas) who lived on Paradise Island/Bahamas with his family. I went to college in Austria and moved back 'home' to the Bahamas. I ended up visiting a friend here in Abaco(which is an island chain of smaller islands) and this is where I met my husband! I am a stay at home mom and I teach Spanish at the highschool here (11 kids in the whole school!). We have two girls, a 9 year old (she has Type 1 Diabetes) and a 6 year old. We started going to Disney when our 9 year old was only 18 months old and we've gone about once a year since then!

We have been to Disney in the months of November, May, June and December, but have never actually spent Christmas at Disney so this is very exciting for us:cheer2:

I once ran into someone that I had just interviewed while we were picking our kids up from camp. He didn't get the position and I certainly didn't stick around to chat and meet the family. They may not have a decision yet but you must at least be a strong contender. :)

Apparently the storm is a hybrid hurricane-nor'easter now. Meaning that by Tuesday ( when we have no power) we could see snow. Seriously, snow from a tropical storm?!!?

Off to run my errands.

You pretty much summed it up lol - although we don't get much fog, we used to be known for that but it wasn't from mother nature, it was all the smog from the factories back in the victorian times haha.

Our weather is pretty boring - its very changeable, we can go from cold, to overcast, to rainy, to sunny, back to rainy, still overcast, then more rain .... but its never extreme. We don't get extremes, its freakishly rare to die from the weather. Since living here I have seen her in all her awesomeness !

Unpredictable, too, right? A few years ago we spent the month of Sept. touring UK (not nearly enough time) - we were told that it could be quite cool in Sept. so we packed mostly winter clothes. I don't think it went below 70 degrees the entire trip. I lost about 10 lbs walking around London in wool slacks and turtle neck sweaters in spite of eating all those fish and chips. :lmao:

It seems to me that quite a few of you might be affected by this hurricane :sad2:

Do me a favour please. Could you quote this and let me know if it could affect you and whereabouts you are? I just like to know who I need to keep in my thoughts .... I would hate to be frillying around not knowing that someone out there needs my positive vibes.

Thank you :goodvibes

I'm far enough inland in NC that we're good. But I'm sending pixie dust to my family & friends on the coast in NJ. Here's to hoping it dies down a good bit or moves out to sea :goodvibes:

Glad you're doing ok. I remember the back end of hurricanes from growing up at the beach. Not fun

Thanks for sharing your story. I hope the winds die down soon and the clean up is quick & painless!

Thinking of you all on the east coast - be safe!

:( We'll be thinking of you!

Thanks. I'm hoping we don't lose power. If we do that means no internet and no DISboards ! I'll come back to find over 20 pages have gone by :scared:!

Me and my family. We on Long Island, NY.

I really like the first tshirt! And if that sweatshirt wasn't $55, I'd totally be buying it!

Hope y'all are safe.

I'm agreeing with everyone else. I think it's a good sign that she over to say hi and meet the family!

We are just outside of Philadelphia. :)

Well, you have an expert at your fingertips here *points enthusiastically at herself :teeth: It has some amazing sights - natural & manmade. If you do, get yourself a bit more connected, find out if you have any family history in the UK (a lot of Americans do - as a hobby i do genealogy for friends) and maybe visit the parts they were from. PM me anytime if you have questions :)

The flight is a breeze - I've done it so often I'm on flight strike!

:D how long a flight is it from GA? You are in the Atlanta suburbs right? I am thinking a few years from now because my youngest is so young. I don't think I have any family history there, but I will definitely want to learn more about the UKs history because the country is so old unlike the US where so much is so new (even the old stuff).

Good Morning everyone!! Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! We are starting to see people preparing here in Northern NH for a ton if precip frozen or not! Might be another Halloween with a foot of snow!

There might not be any in the morning! Everyone needs their makings for french toast!
:rotfl2:

Oh tell me about it. If we don't have french toast stuff then my son gets pretty upset and he has just started making it himself which is a great milestone since he is up at 7:00!

Austria is a beautiful country! I visited a few times as a teenager and loved it.

So glad to hear you are all doing ok :)

Ha! Yep, that sounds like the UK - we do not have definitive seasons, we say we do but you could have summer in winter and vice versa lol

Its about 8-9hrs from Atlanta :) And yes, we certainly have old stuff haha - the abbey where Prince William and Kate were married was originally built one thousand yrs ago and part of that original building is still there  I laugh when people say that we live in an 'old' house - it was built in 1986. To me, an old house has to have been built at least 100 yrs ago :rotfl:

All of you who are facing Sandy ... you are in my thoughts xx
