Parking ?

Just trying to figure out the lay out...

So is there just one parking area for city walk and IOA???

And how much is parking? Say you just wanted to go to City walk for dinner...would you have to pay to park?

There is a parking garage for those who are not staying on site. Parking is $8 to self park or $12-$16 to valet. If you go after 6 p.m. parking is free.

Annual passholders get free parking.

there are three seperate parking garages connected together. One important note make sure you write down the location of your car. for example cat in the hat p12. all areas are referenced by names. it can get very confusing if you forget to go this.

Very true. If you don't remember your section, you could be there all day looking for your car.

If you forgot where you parked your car, ask a security guard. If you know around what time you arrived, they can find what section you're probably in. They'll drive you around and around until they find your car. Another good idea is to write down the section and row you're in on a piece of paper, your kid's forehead, etc. Just don't lose the paper or the kid.

One weird story on parking: Universal employees once found a Japanese couple who couldn't find their car. They drove around and around. They found their parking stub and it was for the Magic Kingdom! How they got from Disney to Universal is still a mystery.

Here's a question for the frugal. I know I can park in the parking garage for free with my AP. How long can I leave the car there? We will be staying at the HRH for two nights in December and DH thought this would be a great way to save a few bucks on parking. Despite the hassle of having the car so far away, does anyone know if extended parking is permitted in the garage? I would hate to have the plan backfire by having the car towed!

If you have an AP parking in the preferred is $4.00. There is only 2 parking garages and then they link together.

imgonnabe40, I would check with the parking attendant(s) to see what they say about it. Just explain the situation and who knows?

Not sure if this is now but in this months AP letter it says this about parking.

Free self-parking each time you visit or pay for 2 hours of Valet and get the rest of the day for free.
$4.00 preferred parking

I think the question is, "Can you overnight park in the parking garage for nothing using your AP?"
My son loves arriving at USO via the parking garage with the music and people movers. He would love it if we could park in the garage instead of the resorts. I don't like the HRH parking lot anyway, too many steps and not enough spaces. They allow parking in areas not designed as spaces blocking pedestrian access. If you park in the PBH garage on the bottom it can get hot. The elevator isn't air conditioned.

We were just there last weekend. I don't know if it was just because of the horror nights, but the parking was "charged" until 8 pm.

HHN is an exception to the rule. And yes, that is why parking was charged till 8p.
