Parking question for the 3/3/16 DVC event at MK

We have a 5:05 pm dinner reservation at the Wave at the CR on 3/3/16. Then we are going to the 25th anniversary DVC event at the MK that ends at midnight. We are not staying on-site. Two questions:

1. Will we have to pay the $20 to get through the MK auto entrance if we show them our ADR for the Wave?

2. If we self park at the CR, I know we are "officially" only allowed to self park for 3 hours for a dinning reservation, and I do not want to push that. However, if we pay for Valet parking at the CR when we arrive at 5:00 pm, would we be allowed to pick up our car from the Valet after the DVC event ends at midnight, or is that also in violation of the official rules?

You will be able to valet, and get your car after the event is over. When you get the main gate, get in the right lane for the resorts and let them know you have a dining reservation at Wave. You will not have to pay to get through.

Thanks Sammie:
I knew about the right lane, and figured the Valet will cost $30 (with tip). If we do not have to pay the $20 to get through the main auto gate, I think it is well worth the extra $10 to Valet and be able to pick up our car at the CR after midnight.

However, if we had to pay both the $20 to get through the main auto gate plus the $30 to Valet at the CR, I was questioning whether it would be worth paying a total of $50 to Valet compared to just paying the $20 and parking in the TTC lot. Plus I was not even sure if we would be allowed to pick up our car after midnight from the Valet before reading your reply.

When you go to claim your car you might have to go inside to the Front Desk. Sometimes the valets are not out front that late.

Also if you want to avoid the main gate completely you can come in Vista Blvd. past Fort Wilderness and not worry with the gate and go straight to the Contemporary for dinner.

You should not have to pay at the auto entrance to MK to get to the Contemporary. Stay to the far right since you need to take a right exit immediately after the tolls.

tell the front gate you are eating at the CR - they should let you in.

Thanks, your two replies are exactly what Sammie previously said in post #2, so it is nice to have confirmation.

We will definitely Valet, partly because I do not want to take any chance our car will be towed and not be there when we return from the park after midnight, but also because it is the "right thing to do". When we have stayed at BLT on our DVC points, it is very frustrating when as a resort guest you can not find a place to park. Maybe there are just not enough self-park spots for resort guests, or maybe the spots taken by ADR guests who only park for 3 hours cause there to be no spots for resort guests, but I would wager it is guests with ADR's or other allowed reasons for visiting the resort who park in that lot while visiting the MK after their "allowed" time is up.

However, as far as allowing guests with ADRs to self park in the resort lot for 3 hours, or Valet all day:

Is this officially listed anywhere on the Disney World Website?
I have not been able to find the time limit on any of the parking pages or FAQ pages on the website.
I have not even been able to find information on the website that says you are allowed to park at a resort if you have an ADR at that resort.

Do the guards tell you about the 3 hour time limit for dinning when you enter the resort parking lot?

I know people will try to park in some resort parking lots and only go to a Theme park from there. Those people know they are "cheating" because they have to lie to the guard to get into the parking lot.

However, if someone does actually dine at the resort, and then leaves their car in the resort parking lot while they go to a Theme park, how would most guests even be aware that they are violating the rules. (Assuming the 3 hour limit actually is the rule)

Note: I originally asked this on the regular Resort forum, but then thought DVC members might be a better group to ask. Sorry about asking twice.

if it is active the guards will tell you - what happens they give you a parking pass for 3 hours (sometime most) or tell you parking is only for guests staying at cr/blt - and limited time parking for guests of the restaurants. but if you get valet parking they will direct to the front of the cr.

they know from the parking pass you are given. It has a time on it (or hours - depending upon the guards) when you need to be gone.

my problem with the BLT parking lot is the CM both for CR/BLT and MK who park there - now don't mind the ones who park far enough away from blt to not be a problem - but those that park really close to BLT - can get on my nerves - especially when they act like I am parking in their area. really need to write DVC about this.

There are signs in the parking lots. Like most things Disney, the rules are enforced when necessary, but vague when unnecessary. You won't find anything in writing about a time limit.
