Parking question & 80's music discussion.

:confused3

Actually, the 80's were pretty good but the 70's rocked. Eagles, Chicago, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith...the list goes on and on. There has not been an era of music to match yet.:thumbsup2

Sorry...disco kinda ruined the 70's for me. Still remember my mom and dad bringing home the "Saturday Night Fever" album and playing it over, and over...and over. I still have nightmares...:scared1:

There were many more things (classic rock) that happened in the 70s other than disco. Earplugs man, earplugs!

I was into Megadeth, AC/DC, Judas Priest, KISS, you get the idea. Hmmm need to find a few of those cd's for the weekend.

Oohhh...was that you??? Well...its all starting to make sense now!!! It took everything in me not to reply to that post!!!

Did someone mention Dokken? No...good reason for that!! What a crock of "KROKUS" pocus!!! Strippers are pretty cool, STRYPER was NOT!!!!

I have a 30 GB Zune with about 22 gigs of MP3's on it. High School in the 70's and college in the 80's: Bands I listen to mostL

Pink Floyd
Rush
Jethro Tull
Genesis
Peter Gabriel
Foo Fighters
Traffic
Clapton (no matter WHO he was playing with)
The Who
Beatles
Joe Walsh
Aerosmith
Nickelback
Heart
Fleetwood Mac
Iron Butterfly - In A Gadda Da Vida!!!!!!
and many many more

Neat story: Back in the early 80's there was a punk band from London called Spiz Energi. It was a two man combo, comprised of a guy name Spiz and his friend, Peter Petrol. They had a minor hit with a song called "Where's Captain Kirk". Peter Petrol (real name Peter O'Dowd) went on to be the road manager for a band called Siouxie and the Banshees, then he discovered computers. I have known Peter for about 10 years now. He is now widely considered one of the world's foremost experts on Microsoft Exchange email server software.

I pegged you for a closet "Winger" fan....:woohoo:

I was just talking about Winger the other day at work,LOL....we were talking about groups that sucked back then, but now theyre good!!! And "shes only17" by winger was one of the songs!!!

I was and still am a die hard Van Halen fan...preferably WITH Dave, but Sammy wasn't too bad either....but Ive never limited myself to ONE STYLE....I liked Prince, Earth,Wind & Fire, Tom Petty......if it was well written and had a decent beat...I was good with it. I even did Country from time to time...and the older I get, the more I listen to Country.

One of the first shows that DW and I went to seen when dating in college was Adam Ant at the Orpheum in Boston. Great place for a show like that. Opening act was Wall of Voodoo....anyone remember "I'm on a mexican radio, radio"

Huge variety of stuff we listen to now, including John Valby (who still plays at college bars in the northeast), Van Halen, DD, Tom Waits, etc. BDR - you and I probably think alike, as I get older I'll listen to most anything and have found some country that I like as well. I'm comfortable enough with my masculinity (and too old to really give a hoot) to admit what I like. Even downloaded the Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus ringtone so when my little girl calls from home that is what I hear. I think this bothers the oldest son who is a true Slayer, Cradle of Filth and Ozzy fan.

I still remember the "brilliant" decision I made back in Frosh year when I was broke thinking that $6 was too much money to go see the Talking Heads at our college stadium. But hey - $6 would buy two pitchers of cheap swill back then and you had to prioritize!

"I wish I was in...Tijuana...eating b-b-q'ed iguana".....I sure do remember wall of voodoo......gotta love those one hit wonders!!!

I kinda pride myself in keeping up with the new stuff....keeps me young, and I'll always have something in common with my kids' friends for those awkward times when the daughter will leave the boyfriend alone in a room with me(is she really THAT stupid???) I may be talking about Smile Empty Soul, but Im thinking "Id like to rip your soul right out of your chest and smile about it!!!"

In the 8'th grade Tom Petty was in my PE class...aren't I special !

There is a station on xmradio (online only) that has one hit wonders, very cool station and has lots of 80's one hit wonders on it. I listen to it while i post here and at work.

I mostly listen to country music now, but will definitely stop for some 80's hair band music.

Anyone else not understand calling Bon Jovi heavy metal?
