We are interested in exploring, and possibly dining at the Boardwalk during our trip, but I can't seem to figure out where we would park. We will be staying at the GF and renting a car to save time vs. the transportation system. Do the hotels in the area all charge non-guests to park? Is there an actual parking lot for the Boardwalk?

TIA!

Hello - you can park at the resort and walk in. There is also a public parking area just beside the resort parking. I think you will be fine since you are a guest of the resort.

first let me say that if you are driving around WDW you are missing half the fun plus the time you think you are saving you will lose by parking, waiting for trams, boatride from TTC to MK etc. we still rent a car but only use it to go to grocery store, donut shop and such. as for parking, there is a big lot behind the boarwalk inn. it is easier to exit world showcase on foot to get to boardwalk.

A lot depends on how crowded they are. If it's a slow time when you pull in you'll be allowed to park in the guest lot in front of the BWI. If the hotel is at capacity or hosting a wedding or confernece you'll probably be directed to the overflow lot across the street from the resort, behind the Hess station.

I disagree that those who drive to the parks are missing all the fun. And, I wonder, exactly what fun would that be? When we took the buses, it seemed to us it was alot of standing on overcrowded buses and making numerous stops, to go someplace only to have to make a connection with another bus to get there.

We've given up on the buses and now only drive our rental car to the parks. We even drive to MK.

For any kind of dining at other resorts, the buses take an hour, whereas the resorts are only 5-10 minutes' drive apart, even AKL.

Once we started driving to the parks and other resorts, we swore off the buses. (We do take the monorail and boats sometimes. We also occasionally take cabs.) DH commented that he couldn't believe how close everything is when you're driving rather than standing in the heat waiting for an over-crowded bus.

For our last stay at CSR, we were able to park our car close to the room. We used the car to go everywhere and never took a bus once. It was so convenient.

I agree that using your car is a good thing for going to the parks. It is so much nicer getting in your own car at the end of the evening instead of waiting for a bus that quickly gets very crowded.

We enjoy taking the trams to the entrance or the monorail.

If parking at the Boardwalk there is a lot before you go through the gate. You should park there. You want to leave spaces for guests of the resort to park.

Oh, and no ones has mentioned it yet but it's free to park at BW if you are a Disney Resort guest. You can also use the valet parking (located at the top of the parking lot, in front of main entrance). They charge for it, but it's nice to use, especially if the parking lot is crowded. Also eliminates the walk, up hill, to the entrance.

Also, if you happen to be there around the time of Illuminations, you can see the upper fireworks from the right side of the parking lot.

Have fun!
