Parking at NY Port

Parking is a lot better than I expected at NYC port. I heard it fills up so I got there early.

Rethinking this, I think maybe taking the train into penn station and getting a cab is a better idea.

Typed out a whole long reply and my iPad lost it. Grrrr so short and sweet. It's $40 /day to park at the port and worth every penny. Train/cab is a pain. Other option is park right. Google them. They basically drop you off at the ship and park your car and for $30 extra you can choose white glove service which means they come get you when the cruise is over. Might save a bit over parking at the pier.

http://parkright.com/670-w-43-st-new-york.shtml 28 dollars/day and across the street from the terminal (Google maps estimates a 6 minute walk) I've parked at other Parkright's before and found them to be good. The only difficulty is pick up I'd say, if you send one person for the car and they try to swing back to pick you up, getting into the pick up area for the cruise terminal can be tricky, you just need to expect that.

That's what we are doing. I live on LI so we will take the train out of Port Jeff (husband doesn't want to go the Ronknokoma line) take that to Penn and cab it from there. After pricing everything out it was the best option. Also, since we are walking off we don't need to sit around for an hour or so waiting to be called to disembark.

What do you mean since you are walking off? Cant anyone walk off as long as they don't stay for breakfast? I don't think that has anything to do with your transportation options, does it? Unless you booked Disney Transfers, then you may have to wait until your time. (Have you cruised Disney before? I think other cruiselines make you wait around to disembark, Disney doesn't do that)

I'm keeping my luggage and just leaving. I've never left off a Disney cruise but usually you are called off in groups and told where to pick up your luggage. I'm sure someone here can tell you the process. Walkoffs usually get to leave first.

Its was the highlight of my parents Disney cruise they took with us last year. I have only ever cruised Disney so its all I know but they had never cruised Disney so they thought we would have to wait around in the lobby areas for our turn to be called. Disney isn't like that even if you don't keep your luggage. You either hang out in your stateroom until you get off or you go eat breakfast and then get off. You do have to leave your stateroom by a certain early time but you aren't corralled.

NCL was brutal, a couple of years ago. We were assigned a color and weren't permitted to leave the ship until you color was called. Then you went a warehouse to pick up your luggage.

Disney offers a sit down breakfast with your dining team on the morning you disembark. Early seating breakfast is really early, like 6:30 I think, late diner seating has breakfast a little later, I think 7:30 or 8:00. Most people go to the breakfast so I think that helps stagger people getting off the ship. Once off the ship you pass through customs, which is usually a bit of a line and then into a warehouse area for your luggage but I've found the luggage very well organized. If you decide to keep your luggage with you you can't really go to breakfast because you'd have to take all that luggage with you, but they will announce when the ship has cleared customs and then you can just leave your room and get straight off the ship.

My husband and I are not for having breakfast that morning. I will be glad to get home to my puppy dogs.

Can I ask a food option the first night on a NYC cruise? I do not want to miss sailing out of NYC especially by the freedom tower, statue of liberty, and ellis island. So, with a 4ish sailing, we will not make an early MDR dinner. I have heard cabanas is closed the first night, so where else will there be to eat on the ship for dinner? Thank you for help!
