Brief park report (I always say that and usually it becomes a chapter in a novel ;-)).

Crowds were average for the time of year. We rope-dropped Mr. Toad and then did Dumbo. I did battle with Zurg several times. My first score was 1,772,000 and it made the #1 spot. Oddly enough, the second place score – barely over 1M – was made by someone else named Rob J. On my second game, I broke 2M. I thought I had 2,085,000 so I stopped shooting. I was mildly annoyed when I exited the ride and found that my score was actually 80,000 short of that – 2,005,000. But as I always say, any complaints I have about Disneyland are First-World, one-percenter problems J.

Later in the day I came to check on my scores. I wanted to see if I was still at the top of the board and that’s something I do regularly. Usually I’ll hear someone call out my name as they read the board and comment of my scores. Yesterday, however, there was a group of four young people – two couples, it seemed, high-school aged or perhaps early 20s. One of the guys was impressed with my score(s). His girlfriend, however, remarked “Yeah, but he’s riding solo. Embarrassing.” I was going to call her out on it – in a good-natured way – but they were walking out and I decided it was best to leave it alone. What I considered saying was something along the lines of “There’s nothing wrong with going solo. Many times I’ve wanted to visit foreign countries but couldn’t find someone to accompany me. My choice was to stay home and do nothing or go by myself and see the country. As a result, I’ve now been to thirty countries, only three of which was with a friend. Meh. Whatever. They were young.

On a more positive note, I ran into four people (separately) I hadn’t seen in a while and also met a new (to me) CM on Buzz. She was sweet and has only been with DL since September.

Rode Hyperspace Mountain at around 10:30 as a single rider. The standby wait was around 60 minutes. I was on the ride in about three minutes. It goes away in a week so I’ll make a point of riding it again next Sunday.

I have park maps, if anyone would like a set.

Not much else to report. For once, I’ve kept my promise and made this (relatively) short ;-).

Park pics.

Yes, nice report! Oh to be young and cruel...sorry you were subjected to such a rude comment. The funny thing is, even though you are there solo it seems like you're never really alone (striking up conversations with fellow park goers, bumping into fellow Disboarders, CMs and friends). So she can be sour all she wants. We know the truth! 😊

Thank you! You're absolutely correct. I rarely feel alone at Disneyland. Or anywhere, really, for that matter. There's much to be said for striking up random conversations. At DL, I find that about 19/20 people are receptive. In the world outside of DL (you know: that place ;-)), the proportion is still relatively high: at least 6/10 or possibly even 7/10 . Fortune favors the bold! :-).

I would love maps. We are doing our first Disneyland trip June 27th and our first trip with my daughter's service dog so would love to highlight some things on the maps. Let me know how much to send for shipping. thanks

For all that girl knew, you were part of a bigger odd numbered size group and rode solo while the rest of the group was in other cars around you. My mom and I typically ride in separate cars --- we board via the handicap location and I always ask if we can ride separate since we do not play nicely. And it has never been a problem. We do tend to try to ride early when there really is not a line yet.

Send me a DM with your preferred mailing address and I’ll drop a set in the mail for you.

Yes. Came back about five weeks ago. They’re doing Hyperspace Mountain until next Sunday, I believe.
Awesome! Thanks for the update. Did Indy's SR come back too? Man, it was such a bummer when they all went away! Is there a current list of all SR somewhere?

Thanks for the great pictures! I'm glad you ran into some friends. I love being at Disneyland alone. I always travel with family but end up wandering on my own alot since I can't go on the big rides. Some of my most enjoyable times are when I'm by myself. Love your picture of an almost empty Fantasyland, especially Peter Pan :)

Not as far as I know. But I'll check next Sunday.
Unfortunately, the single-rider option has not returned for Indiana Jones. In fact, I checked with a CM there about ten minutes ago. I asked “Is there any chance that single-rider passes will return anytime soon?” She replied with a single word: “Never.” Seemed a bit extreme and silly to say that they’d never come back. A. She has no way of knowing that. A better answer would have been “Not as far as I know.” B. Certainly it’s possible that they’ll return one day. C. If you don’t know the answer to a question, it’s OK to say “I don’t know.”

As I smiled and walked off, I replied “Well, never say never.” Then another CM chimed in. “We don’t have it now and I don’t think they’ll bring it back again anytime soon.” That was a far better answer than “Never.”
