Brief park report (I always say that and usually it becomes a chapter in a novel ;-)).
Crowds were average for the time of year. We rope-dropped Mr. Toad and then did Dumbo. I did battle with Zurg several times. My first score was 1,772,000 and it made the #1 spot. Oddly enough, the second place score – barely over 1M – was made by someone else named Rob J. On my second game, I broke 2M. I thought I had 2,085,000 so I stopped shooting. I was mildly annoyed when I exited the ride and found that my score was actually 80,000 short of that – 2,005,000. But as I always say, any complaints I have about Disneyland are First-World, one-percenter problems J.
Later in the day I came to check on my scores. I wanted to see if I was still at the top of the board and that’s something I do regularly. Usually I’ll hear someone call out my name as they read the board and comment of my scores. Yesterday, however, there was a group of four young people – two couples, it seemed, high-school aged or perhaps early 20s. One of the guys was impressed with my score(s). His girlfriend, however, remarked “Yeah, but he’s riding solo. Embarrassing.” I was going to call her out on it – in a good-natured way – but they were walking out and I decided it was best to leave it alone. What I considered saying was something along the lines of “There’s nothing wrong with going solo. Many times I’ve wanted to visit foreign countries but couldn’t find someone to accompany me. My choice was to stay home and do nothing or go by myself and see the country. As a result, I’ve now been to thirty countries, only three of which was with a friend. Meh. Whatever. They were young.
On a more positive note, I ran into four people (separately) I hadn’t seen in a while and also met a new (to me) CM on Buzz. She was sweet and has only been with DL since September.
Rode Hyperspace Mountain at around 10:30 as a single rider. The standby wait was around 60 minutes. I was on the ride in about three minutes. It goes away in a week so I’ll make a point of riding it again next Sunday.
I have park maps, if anyone would like a set.
Not much else to report. For once, I’ve kept my promise and made this (relatively) short ;-).
Park pics.
