whats wrong with a long thread? its a thread based on discussion of pet peeves.

No, it's not the long threads, it's the:

exaggerating to get a point across

We are not idiots, we can all understand points, "exaggerating" just tends to divert from the true topic and serves to create new topics.

Folks who can't make a good argument frequently have to resort to "exaggeration."

well obviously someone didnt because i was just replying to someone who did not. i wasnt making an argument in any manner simply pointing out you dont know why someone may or may not give up there seat and you shouldnt be so quick to judge those who do not, i aplogize if that offends you in some manner.

And huge tour groups who walk 10-20 across a small path and nobody else can get through

I'll tell you what's awful.. trying to walk around fantasyland in the middle of the afternoon..

I literally have to keep my head on a swivel to avoid the all the scooters flying at me from all sorts of different angles. I got grandpa joe and his 10 person entourage making a beeline for peter pan, aunt mary jane headed for a little treat casey's, and then I got the local nursing home headed for it's a small world and they are deadset on not letting anyone getting in their way.

I practice my skipping and hopping skills before any Disney trip for fear of losing toes, ankles, legs, or god forbid my life. The people riding scooters these days are so oblivious to their surroundings that they wouldn't know if they were crushing my skull under one of their tires.

Actually I'm entitled to my opinions. They annoy me, oh well. And I especially hate the fact that handicapped people always seem to have this massive entourage with them. The handicapped person goes in and then their private army of 10-20 folks follows them on the bus eventhough this people haven't waited in line... absolutely disgusting!!!

Sure, disabled people always have a huge entourage. That's HBO's next series: Grandma's Entourage.

While I don't have any problems with wheelchairs and those with disabilities, I do have one story to share on the topic.

On my first trip (in 2006) I was standing in the lobby of POR and saw a family with two teenage boys about 20 feet away. One of the kids was in a wheelchair with one of his legs elevated. I felt kind of bad, since I was super excited to be there, and it would have been a bummer to have what seemed like a broken leg.

Two days later I saw the same family over in MK and the boys had switched places! The kid who was originally in the wheel chair was up and walking around fine (even pushing his brother at one point) and the other boy was riding around with his leg elevated as they went through the alternative entrance to Space Mountain Later, neither one was in the chair.

I wasn't mad about the situation, I just wanted to share the story.

Just FYI, not all limitions work the same way all the time. A fair number of people come on the DISabilities board talking about problems with knees or hips so that they can't walk for too long or too far, but if they sit for too long the joint tends to freeze up so that they can't stand at all. My ex-husband had circulation problems at one point that was causing his legs to swell up. His doctor reccomended walking when he could (which helps circulation) and sitting with his feet up when they got too swollen.

The usual reccomendation in these cases is to get a manual WC, sit and get pushed when you need to, and use it as a walker when you need to walk. Or get an ECV and let someone else drive it when you need to walk. If you have two people with problems, you can share one WC/ECV. Many older couples both have some problems and some mobility so they share one WC/ECV, taking turns.

In short, not uncommon and not evidence of "cheating".

I hate when people don't use both sides of the register when eating counter service (or at the bag search too). They always look really offended when you come up on the other side and get ahead of them--I'm not rude, I'm just informed, and tomorrow you'll know better. You're welcome

I am the poster who complained about the kids on the shoulders. I would like to add that I have become proactive on Main St before Wishes. With much practice, I can usually tell which families will engage in "kid on the shoulder" behavior. I steer clear of those families and find another place to stand. Such an interesting discussion here!!

I think this thread allows Disney guests to get their gripes out of their system. There seems to be some common pet peaves. Air them out. If your not interested just ignore the thread. This all in fun anyway isn't it? Isn't It?

Wow ladies I thought the guys were the ones to sprinkle when tinkling.

I have a new one that came out of last visit.

I walked around the corner into the mens room at Epcot. A fairly burly guy is standing at the urinal with his shorts and tighty whities down at his knees pulling them up. Can you imagine a young boy finally feeling old enough to brave the men's room without mom and he walks around the corner to see that hairy thing!

Guys if you need to drop them go in a stall. If you are at the row of urinals save us from the scary rear view.

i know ppl will yell about this but i dont care...


i hate it when ppl with kids or ppl in wheelchairs think they should get special treatment because they have kids or are in a wheelchair. like getting on buses first, having to give up seats on the bus for them, cutting in line, getting ran over by them, etc
