We got our Park Hopper Tickets today and For some reason, I had in my mind that the tickets would be like the MVMCP tickets.. meaning, they would be like little credit cards... you know, plastic!? Each of our park hopper tickets have a different character on them, but they are paper. Hmmmmm.... Do they exchange them once you get there or something?

No they don't exchange them. The paper tickets work just the same as the credit card tickets.

The only time you get credit card tickets that I know of is from the Disney Store and when you have the UPH and then it is the same as your resort key.

The magnetic stripe on the paper tickets actually seems to hold it's encoding slightly better than the plastic cards do, even if the card gets a little bent up. (however, if you keep the cards in a safe place, and don't let them touch back to back, you shouldn't have any problems with demagnetization)

You know, our annual passes are the same way. You'd think they would get terribly beat up, but they haven't. We used them for a week long trip last Thanksgiving, a 2 day trip in the spring and we leave in a week for another 8 days and they are still going strong. They're more sturdy than they look!

A quick note on the paper passes:

Try not to wash them in your pants pockets. :)

Thank you,
Ted

Just this past May we were at Disney and had the UPH ticket and like everyone said its plastic, charge card and room key, We will be ay Disney again 11 days :bounce: :Pinkbounc .........and this time I am only getting park hopper tickets.

So how does the paper tickets work when it comes to charging your food etc and room key.

thanks for the help

Hi Brooke!

Your Hoppers will have nothing to do with charging privileges. In order to charge to your room, you will use your room key.

Hope that this helps. :)

The comment about becoming demagnatized has me curious.

Parkhoppers are supposedly good for ever. But if they become demagnatized, how can anyone tell how many days are left on the card? Our last trip we used some old hoppers (early 1990's) which had the days punched as they were used it was obvious how many days had been used. Our current hoppers have 2 or 3 days left on them - do they become worthless if they are somehow demagnatized and can not read by a cardreader?

The CMs can type in the numbers on the back of the ticket and get the same info as they can by scanning/reading the mag strip. That's why you are advised to keep a copy of the backs of your tickets - if you lose the tickets, the CMs can cancel the ticket and reissue you a new one with the same number of unused days and plus options.

Best wishes -

Our last trip a CM also told us not to put them near our cell phone...apparently a cell phone can demagnetize them also!
