Park Hopper Option or Not

In the past I have always gotten the park hopper option on my Disney World pass but I am wondering if I should for the December pass. When I think back generally I only go to multiple parks if we go to Animal Kingdom which I don't think I will have time to do in December.

Just wondering what others experiences and thoughts are?

I have done it both ways - although both are fine, my preference is to do the Park Hopper. Primarily, this is because I like to usually spend my evenings in EPCOT. I love having the freedom to do this at the end of each day. I also like to split my day btn AK and DHS. I don't believe either is a full day park, especially DHS. AK is getting closer to taking an entire day.

Here is my typical schedule (coming from Calif):
Arrival Day - no touring, hang at hotel
MK (will sometimes spend all day - or hop to EPCOT in pm)
EPCOT (all day)
Day off touring
AK (am) DHS (pm)
MK/EPCOT
Return home

I planned our September trip so Aaron and Charlotte could get tickets witout the park hopper option. I think as long as you plan what park you'll do each day then it'll be ok, if you want to go with the flow a hopper may be useful.

Can you upgrade while there if you cange your mind?

We don't get the hoppers. It's annoying for us to travel from one park to another. Once we pick one, we stay there.

We couldn't imagine doing WDW without Hoppers. I know we could with careful planning. But we just like doing a park in the morning and a different park in the afternoon. For us, we tend to do Epcot multiple times in the afternoon/evening. As for the morning, we usually hit MK or AK.

Buy the base tickets. If you decide you want to hop once you get there, Disney will gladly upgrade your tickets.

I always get Hoppers too, but for our trip coming up in November, with the shorter park hours I decided to just get base tickets. We always park hop, but with the MVMCP's most nights we wouldn't be able to go over to MK, so that just leaves Epcot. I will probably miss being able to hop over there on our AK day, but since it's only one day, I decided not to get the Hoppers. We'll see how it goes.

We tend to do the "one park per day" method and buy the non-hoppers. On your AK day, why not stroll the Boardwalk after a great dinner at one of the Boardwalk restaurants. It lots of fun.........or maybe Downtown Disney?

I think it depends on how long your stay is. If it's 5 days or shorter, it's not necessary. If it's alonger than that, you may find that in the last few days of your trip you are spending half days in one park and half in another to finish up things you didn't do or to eat.

We are going for 10 days. We eat alot at Epcot because it has the most restaurants but I don't want to spend the last few days only there. So, for us it mkaes sense.

It is a good point to make that you can upgrade to hoppers once you're there if you need to.

We hop, mainly for food, flexibility, and transportation.
For shorter length stays we probably would not park hop.

I always advise - unless you KNOW you are going to park hop, don't get the park hopper option. You can always add it later for the price of the option. If you make it through your stay without hopping, you've saved yourself the money.

we always get it only because we work around our meals.........example........we have an ADR at Momma Melrose on one day and an ADR at SCI FI on another........we will not be spending two whole days in DHS......also have ADR"S at Liberty Tree, Chrystal Palace and Tonys Town Square on different days and certainly do not devote 3 whole days to MK. if you do not base your trip on dining, as we do, but base it on touring, which we do not, then you will be ok. i also like to be able to say........lets get out of here (MK) before 3pm and take the monorail to Epcot......or we will be stuck
