Are all of the parks terribly crowded on Thanksgiving Day or do they start getting busy the Friday after?

I am sure most people here will tell you that it is absolutely packed on Thanksgiving. I didn't think it was at all. We went down last year for the week, our only PS was Thanksgiving Day and for the CA Grill. We had no problems at all getting into eat and on Thanksgiving evening at the MK were able to ride Splash Mountain 4 times with out getting off. Yes there were people there but I thought it was far less crowded then March or Christmas. I wouldn't hesitate at all to go again at this time of year.

We've been twice during Thanksgiving and yes, there are more people than the ordinary day. We have done MK both times and had a plan both times. We arrived for EE and used FastPass strategically for the early morning. We then relaxed and enjoyed the day. We did get several things done and had a wonderful time. You just have to understand before you go that there will be crowds.
BTW, we'll be there this year too!

You can notice the crowds building on Wednesday. Thanksgiving Day and Friday are pretty bad. Try to do as much as possible as early in the day as is possible.

I've been to WDW in June and Thanksgiving week (several times). T-day and Friday are very similar to June. Given a choice, I'd do WDW earlier in the week.

I am considering a short trip this year. Fly in Saturday (22nd - 23rd wedding anniversary) fly out Wednesday (26th)

Mickey0276, since you have so much experience at Thanksgiving, if we have from the Sunday before Thanksgiving to the Saturday after (the Sat before and Sun after are travel days so I didn't list them) which four days should we do the parks?

Hi,
Can any of you tell me how busy is the weekend after Thanksgiving?
I am trying to decide whether to go down on Saturday or Sunday after. (life would be easier to go the Saturday, but I would like to go when it is less crowded)
thanks,
Donna

Traffic picks up as the week progresses. If you can, do as much as possible as early in your vacation as you can.

IE: We tend to save our trip to Downtown Disney for later in the week.

We will be there this year (WED-SUN) at the WL. We will do

Thurs-MK (wish us luck!)
Fri- MGM
Sat- Epcot

Just curious, if you do a park on Thanksgiving, what sort of dinner do you do? Do people generally get PS's for a sit down dinner?

We've done both (PS's and no PS's). We've been happy with both.

If you are "spontaneous" and don't want to be locked in, but still want to eat a traditional T-day dinner and you are in MK, don't laugh, try Cosmic Rays.

Three T-Days ago, our family of 4 ate for $37.73 (yes, I looked it up on the receipt).

The meal included: Turkey, Filling/Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Jellied Cranberry Sauce and 4 medium soda's.
