Parents considering going on transatlantic

Their cruise is officially booked! They got second seating and would rather first. I know you can try to get it changed when you get on the ship but is there anything they can do before the cruise?
Did you try changing it in the app? When I booked the cruise, it initially gave me second dining. However, I changed it to first dining. If it’s not available, they’ll have to visit guest services once they’re onboard.

I’ll let them know and see if it lets them. They do lots of last minute trips so this is actually far out for them lol

They were able to switch to the early seating. I don’t think they realized when they booked they could have changed it right away

I was going to say the same. I realized only a while ago that main seating was still available, which is unusual!

I've never tried early. My stomach might like it better, but...

A -When I'm on a ship my sister is working on, she can only get permission to dine with me on late.
B - I feel like the odds of them being able to honor the private table request are better on Late since pretty much everyone and their cousin wants Early.
and
C - I feel like I'd feel too rushed at Early with them needing to be set for Late by a certain time.

They are trying to book Remy but it will only let them book for 1 not 2. If they call can they get around this or is it sold out for 2 people?

They can try once they are on the ship. Typically the dining team is set up in front of Enchanted Garden on boarding day before muster drill. Most likely they will be able get something. 13 evenings, some people might also still cancel while on board.

Book for 1 now. When they get on the ship go to Dining Changes (it'll be listed in the app on Day 1-should be outside Enchanted Garden but always good to check in case they move it) and they should be able to switch it to 2 people. If they don't want to wait in that line, they can go up to Palo/Remy later on and talk to whoever is at the host stand and they'll be able to sort it out.

This is a known glitch happening, so book for 1 so you have a spot. There are not tables for 1, so any reservation for 1 person can easily accommodate 2 people, as it'll be at (at least) a 2-person table.

I always book just for 1 so I can see if there are any other times I want to switch to without cancelling. No need to call or talk to anyone - tables are always set for 2 anyway.

Does anyone know which nights the shows are on? Is that listed anywhere? Trying to see if the nights they booked Palo and Remy will mess with seeing the Broadway production type shows I think on this ships it’s Aladdin and Frozen?

The shows will be Aladdin, Frozen, and Believe. I don't think anyone's been able to find out which nights the shows are (this was also just discussed in the FB group with similar results).

Don’t they normally tell concierge when these things are? Hmm I don’t want them to miss the shows because of the meals. I think they have Palo booked on pirate night since I saw pirate makeup as an option for one of the activities that day. Do they do the shows more than one night since the cruise is a lot longer?

I'm concierge and have not heard about the nights of the shows. I don't know if they typically do the shows more than one night, since there's other act that are usually scheduled for the night before.

Yes, if you saw Pirate's League in BBB then that is Pirate Night-there will not be a Broadway show that night.

The shows are offered twice each night (on the night they are offered), so depending on what time your parents have Palo they might be able to make one of the shows. If they find that Palo truly conflicts with the show, they can talk to the Palo people once onboard to either shift the time (so they can make one of the shows) or move dinner to a different night.

We've done a couple of Transatlantic cruises on DCL. The production shows were only shown once (two showings on one day). The added days got specialty entertainment. There are some shows utilizing the regular DCL CMs more like musical reviews that are pulled out for such cruises. And local entertainment brought on in one port for one or two shows (2 different shows on different nights). I believe they won't be wanting for things to see.

If you’ve done multiple TA cruises, is it always Bruce Kimbrough doing the lectures or do they ever get other people? Thanks

I can't tell you. I only remember the husband/wife duo we had on our first one. We wound up seated with them when we were in Nice for lunch. Sorry, I don't really recall who were the various lecturers. But I did enjoy the lectures.

I normally do late dining; however, I have acid reflux. I’ve been training myself not to eat pass 7p. It has helped a lot!

Thanks, but it doesn't answer the concerns above. Plus the EARLY morning breakfast on debarkation day (which would be hesitation D if I'd remembered it then.
