OP - Coat check is like valet parking for jackets. Like valet, not everywhere offers it. If you do use it, there may be a small fee. And you will be expected to tip. Also like valet, you usually (but not ALWAYS) have the choice to not utilize it.

Fellow Californian here--Pick up some of those instant hand warm things--try the ski department of Dick's Sporting or Big 5. I use those a LOT when we visit cold places. I know they make them for ski boots, too, but I've never used those. I also picked up some warm socks (maybe wool blend). I am much happier if my hands/feet aren't freezing.

I didn't even think of that! I don't put the top down on my car unless it is 72 or higher. I freeze at 60. We just don't get very cold here.

I think 2 hours is enough time for the Christmas Story House. If you have time watch the movie before you visit. If you like beer make sure you grab a Great Lakes Christmas Ale while you are in town.

Thank you. We are there next weekend for four days, one of which is the wedding. I wish I had more time to see your museums. We will have time for one, we think, so if there is one over another we SHOULD see, please let me know. I love botanical gardens, too. I LOVE Natural History museums but I think I am the only one in our party who would enjoy it.

And I LOVE that it is a valet for your coat! Awesome! Exactly. I've only seen one coat check here and that was at a funeral when it just happened to be raining. It was a rack and we put our jackets on it. And I go places, I promise!
